I only fought it for about 2 months on my first hydro grow, which was less than a year ago. Since then ive upgraded from dwc to rdwc, still using only water. Ive never grown in soil or coco or used perlite. I could upgrade from RDWC to AERO, but im more interested in the fogponics. Right now I have my hands full, but I have a feeling I will be using fog or aero in a greenhouse one day. I have no need for aero on my small setup. Plus theres the fog aspect that most dont understand. Supposedly you can have a 2 stage aero, one with fog and mist. . idk lol. Its to complex and the gains are not worth my time. So just simple roots submerged in water is my game. I always use a pump so my water is recirculating always. I always use bacteria and keep living organisms in my water(LIVE SYSTEM)instead of chemicals aimed to destroy all living organisms in the water (Sterile System).how often do you encounter root rot with those three products and what medium do you use them in, and is it dwc, aeroponic?
what are your techniques for defeating pythium??
In my eyes its all about prevention instead of combating it. Once it overtakes your roots, its one hell of a process to get rid of it, takes about a week, IF you fixed the root cause.
Prevention in my eyes would be down to light leaks. Most big systems have alot of light leaks. If your temps are over 74f you will prolly get it too just due to the growth higher temps encourage. I run 73F now, from my understanding the warmer the water, the faster the growth, but you will also grow pythium. Since I built my system myself, I eliminated all light leaks obviously. So I have 2 systems, the one with 30 gallons lasted 60 days before I dumped it. I added 30 gallons by the time it was 60 days lol, but then i transplanted to flower.
Anyways, once you figure out how to prevent it, you can focus on how to tune your system.
Search aquamans cure or root rot, its a sticky thread under this hydro section. If you have root rot now, you need to make a thread on that lol. If your asking how well my Hydroguard(bacteria) works, well I dont even look at my roots anymore. I scrog the plants down so hard I cant actually pick the netpots up and out to look at my roots. I did last grow, a month deep, perfect white, then at the end of the 2 months in the flower system still perfect white. So yea im not even gonna look at them now. I even cut the hell out of the roots during transplant. . . the girls never flinched
My thread is "6 strains in the same hydro system" if you want to study my system.
