Do you want to find out what kind of panel you have appropriate breaker, and then just add up your combined amperage get the appropriately sized breaker. Why are you want is Called 10 Awg . Everything you have should have either AmbridgEverything you have should have either Amperage minimum circuit ampacity labled on the boiler plates

I understand now why people have fires...dude...just hire an electrician and pay them...unless of course you plan on a house fire keeping you warm this winter...you are not even close to understanding how this works AT ALL.
I have been a Master Electrician since '02 and it would be criminally negligent of me to infer any advice to you after reading this other then to hire a licensed and insured electrician to get this simple task done.
Best of luck to you!

Its easy to learn, cheaper to do it yourself, and the overall knowledge you gain is worth the trial and error.

I do like how you say im not even close, yet you dont say why. People are able to learn, not everyone needs to make 50$ per hour. Hell had I listen to 99% of hydro growers I wouldnt have had the success ive had thus far. Ironically since this post ive learned quite about about home electrical systems.

How about instead of providing useless information you tell me the wire im looking for. Thats all it is, but since your a master, im sure you cant do that for me lol. . id have to go get some entry level guy who can explain it to me rationally since he doesnt know everything already. Your comment by far pisses me off and was unneeded. Sorry if im rude, but perhaps you can actually provide assistance instead of criticism. So how about this . . .

Right now im using extension cords that run through my home. I did not do nothing yet because im not wanting to buy the wrong wire. I can actually wire up a single 20 amp, with 12/3 awg. And yes, that sir would be simple to wire up to my panel, run the wires, and install the 20amp outlet. Yet, That will only power one of my lights. Im pulling 8.9 amps per light. I need an extra 20% so nothing kicks out upon startup. So in my head, I want to run 2 outlets. This means installing a DUAL 20 amp breaker. Now I know I can wire and run two 12/3 strands from that, to two separate outlets in my grow room and be just fine. Im sure this is the way to do it based upon code.

Yet my back room really does need its own subpanel. Plus I dont want to run two 50ft strands of 12/3. This doesnt allow me for future upgrades. If I wire a subpanel up, i can then have more rooms for upgrades. Lucky for me im a quick learner. . But atm the extension cords are holding up just fine. Just sucks having them strung through the house. Like I said, people are not stupid, and do not need to be treated as so. Each case is different, there are plenty of people that I would also tell to hire someone. Im sure if I were you id tell me to hire someone. But i didnt make this post for that, i made it so I could learn. Im more concerned with the wiring subpanels now lol. . got any advice? LIke perhaps ill have a professional wire up the subpanel lol. . but you could have just told me to run a dual 20amp with two strands of 12/3 right? Tell me why its hard to add a subpanel and why . cause atm im about to start studying it. Im the type that will do it out of spite, do it because they said you cant or shouldnt. My hard work and studying has always paid off and been worth it. I have yet find a subject I couldnt understand if I used my time appropriately.

Ok. Learn this one important thing. Electrical work is for qualified electricians only. DIY voids your house insurance. And there's more nuance to the trade than can be gleaned with a few questions. A non qualified installation is always illegal. And never worth the few bucks saved. And 50 dollars an hour is so cheap for an electrician that I wouldn't let a guy do electrical work for such a small amount of money. You don't learn electrical work by doing. You're either a tradesman or not. You don't play around with electrical to "figure it out". He isn't being rude. He is being pertinent and succinct. Furthermore a layman can't be instructed by a professional in tasks involving repair. It's against the rules. In fact and electrician can't help wire most grows or even have knowledge of them. Unless they're licensed facilities. It's not an easy trade anyone can do.

Well I dont want to void my home owners insurance thats for sure. I prolly wont wire up a sub panel, sounds way to hard. Yet as for adding a dual 20 amp breaker, there really is no way I can mess it up and actually will have to go that route now since I wont be able to afford the sub panel. My building im moving into has plenty of power, with a subpanel, unlike my current home.

I guess ill narrow it down for everyone

Will a 20amp dual breaker, 2 strands of 12/3 , 2 20 amp outlets work. I can wire that up now, but didnt quite understand it as well when this post was made. I have a crawl space which will make it super easy to do this. I mean atm I can just put the extension cords in the crawl space and save the money, but yea id rather just make it permanant. Anyways, this isnt a huge rush, the cords have been strung about for months now, im use to it and poor always.

The problem with installing a 20 amp breaker is the fact the wire is only rated for 15. And old breakers go obsolete and aren't sold anymore. And chances are you need to install the new arc fault type breakers. With pigtails. Even a 20 amp breaker install would void your insurance. On 12/2 it's fine. But in most places 20 amp receptacles are dedicated. So you can only run one. And rules are regional. There's no way to guess. I just finisher my houses rewiring. It was months of big money and ripping out walls. Never again.

The building inspector wont even enter the building lol. Like I had a grease fire, and had some damaged wiring in the ceiling and walls. My dad, who is better than a master electrician lol, automation engineer to be specific, he was who the master electricians called to fix their issues. Never got dirty either lol, best electricians there are working with 480 went strait to him. Anyways he came and wired it all back up for me. He ran power to half my house using a gas generator and an extension cord plugged into a wall outlet. Anyways, he died a few months later, and now I wish I had listened and watched him work more. In my head, I know I have his gift of learning, I just get high unlike him lol. Long story short, i feel the need to do my own electrical work, if its easy enough to learn.

As for whats up to code in my state, and rural area, they dont care what I do. This commercial building I bought was a music theater and the fucking wiring in it is insane, they were licensed and insured too. . crazy town here. Anyways, im more worried about the insurance thing, but confident I can do this simple job. My plants would be

Since its a dual 20amp, i can run separate strands of 12/3. The ground off each will be attached to the side panel, the white will be attached to the neutral bar, the black will be attached to the first 20amp breaker, Its a dual, so I will repeat this process with another 12/3 strand. These 2 strands of 12/3 will be about 30ft long. Each will run to its own dedicated 20amp Receptacle.

Even if it does catch on fire, its code and the best way to wire it, perhaps not the cheapest lol. .but it will work. This will also leave me with almost 5 extra amps to use in the grow room per outlet.

Again, i poor, this is all hypothetical right now. This would also not require pigtails. My panel also only has room for one more dual breaker so it seems like the best route. As for my the max load the panel can handle, im currently running it all now, just using different parts of the house that draw nothing.

Does all that sound correct in theory?

Not understanding why the 12/3. When 12/2 is fine. But another option is running a 40 amp. And installing a dedicated lighting controller from Titan equipment. And you might have to leave 2 spaces open on the panel. So I personally wouldn't know the move to make.

Oh i forgot about light controllers. . so yea i guess my thing is dont I need a ground? See I guess im going overkill. I know when running 240 you need 4 wires, but I dont understand why lol. Not that im going to run 240 ever, but anyways. . .In my head i see each outlet needing 3 wires ran back to the panel. Ground hot and neutral. Yet as im typing im assuming I can run 2 wires, neutral and hot, and just tie the ground from the outlet into a nearest outlet?? man lemme hit this bowl. OK SO, if there are no outlets to tap off of for ground, you have to run 3 wire right? But if there is, is there like no max that you can run on a ground? I guess not huh, all your wanting is to allow the short circuit and breaker trip. . . hits bowl one more time

I can't really advise on that. It's way beyond my scope.

Well its not burnt down, about to wire up another 30 amp breaker to my main and run some 12/3 to two 15 amp recipticles. Ill tie the ground off to the nearest wall outlet ground and be done with it.

As for your theorys on life, no one cares, the world goes on. . .While your hating, im learning how to do electrical work. Its actually pretty easy to become a licensed electrician in my state, but yea, more power to you and your opinions.

Yep....just reply with something stupid that proves my point.
Yep...it is simple...actually I will have 5 monkeys trained on how to do it by next Monday...but you...not even close to being as smart as a monkey...you will never learn. You must be from a real inbred state if that is how it works.

30 Amps exceeds the wire rating by a full third. 20 amps is the maximum. And that's for appliances on dedicated breakers. Your plan is straight dangerous.

If you did put #12 AWG conductors on a 30 amp breaker, that is a code violation. # 12 is only rated for 20 amps doing what you are attempting.

Please get your friend over to do it!

I am an about to retire IBEW journyman. Just because it works doesn't mean it is right.
Over amping a wire gives off heat,,,,,, might want to check. Peace

Dual 20 amp breaker, with 2-20amp outlets, using 12/3 lol. . not 30amp. mb

Throw main outside, install dual 20amp, run 12/3 to the bedroom, Use 2 wires for one 20 amp outlet, and 2 wires for the other. Join the two outlets grounds, and tap them into the nears outlets ground.

will that also burn my house down? Like this thread is old as hell, i havnt actually done anything. Dudes on here ranting for no reason lol. Imagine saying something but not doing it just to see the reaction, to see if your right or wrong. But to act as if ive done it, pfft. . im not that comfy yet. But I assure you, we dont pay people to do our work around here. We will just do it another way, like atm I have extension cords ran through the house until I feel comfortablee doing it.

That will work fine, double pole 20 amp, 2 circuits, shared neutral, common ground.

make sure both poles trip at the same time. You have a multi- wire branch circuit. Peace
