@ComfortablyNumb, I have the dolemite in, and spoke to BAS who said, “yes, the top dressings are ok, as you want the extra push, and we can see your soil is too moist. Take the cover off.” Done!!

They did ask about the water and I thought from early on, that PH wasn’t a worry, the soil would buffer etc. They are of course asking about the water. I don’t have an issue using PHup or down, and know there are a ton of ways to get it done. But! What the ph of the water going into a 2gal+ res (I’m using two gallons so I’m sure I’m not reaching soil). I can PH that water to any level I want. It’s not going to stay there in the res at that level, right? I’m confused.
Which I know isn’t surprising. I also know it’s not rare and I am giving myself the break now. I’m doing pretty well, and I feel my focus is on the right things. I am less worried about the product that comes out on this run, and I’m not sure if that’s normal or not. I just know a ton more now and know I will improve to this point next time. I do know it’s going to take a few runs. I feel like I’m in a good spot. I have the correct products (thank you) and a better idea of process. I’m anxious for the next run. I’m not giving up by any means. I’m just excited to apply what I’ve learned so far. And use all the notes…. ✌️

I still have so many questions that I think I know answers to from the reading through threads, and books etc., but have certainly found it hasn’t all applied to my specific tent, conditions, etc etc.

I’m up to 50% power, 300w of the PhotonTek X600 pro, at 19.75” (really probably 20”). I lowered it slowly from 30” to the 20, and then slowly started increasing. I was at 30%, 30” as recommended early, and they loved it and obviously thrived. I know they can take and need more now and all looks good.

I know my defoliation is going to cause stretch issues (no branches were cut) and I’ve cut away immediate lowers on the stems that would have produced. I don’t know if I’ve ruined it all or not, have already spoken about how the rest of this for me is just for the watching, and learning. I’m less concerned with yield, than I am learning process. I’m taking chances. I can get back here in a better spot.

To be honest, I don’t even want to show what I’ve done, because I don’t want the stress of hearing the downsides to what I’ve done. Haha. I really don’t. But I’ll accept it here, because I know it’s meant to help me improve, and really, more for the ladies up there than me (yes, I know you all want to help me too, but all of our focus is really them, and I love that). As stated too many times, and well known, I wouldn’t even be at this point without the members here. Beginning with product choices. So, if it upsets you or not, and you have to say I’ve made horrible mistake or not, you deserve to see, and critique. Just try to be easy. I really am willing now to risk everything in there. As foreign as it may sound. ✌️

These are pre, post, dark, lights up.

They look pretty good except in pic 2, they look over watered.
Yes! Although, the pic before it is the same condition, just after the cutting, They’re being watered from the reservoir, and I did let it empty, but probably should have left it empty longer. I need to work that out. Even that may have left them overwatered but having the plastic mulch cover on them didn’t help at all. I think that one just got the worst of the overwater, which likely begun in the original water in. It is off now, as seen.

Now, my only confusion is because that was a complete cover, cutting air, light and conditions completely, I should still have a cover like the rice hull. Allow drying, but not over drying at top. I think I just answered my question. Thank you!!

Although I haven’t doubted one bit of advice given, & knowing what I do from talking to one of the actual sources. You seeing the issue from these tiny pics that I know don’t “expand” well, doesn’t just go more to convincing me, it should convince anyone reading any of it, that I am in the right place, and any success seen to this point is a direct result of my picking this forum. I posted a little on a couple more. They’re all abandoned long ago. ✌️❤️🎼

I love this stupid cam. I’m in the car (passenger) and I just took this pic. That $50 gift card from the brother in law got its best use this year. Now. I’m just kind of upset I didn’t put the rice hull on before before leaving I won’t be back before lights out

Taking advantage of the empty reservoirs today. Won’t be using the plastic mulch cover this run so cut them off. Took the ladies out, cleaned up the house, and placed them in new positions. Slowly, one step at a time with breaks. No pains!! Haha. I didn’t see it in the light leak check but I did see a space around my ducting hole. Fixed!! I don’t think anything got in. The light in the room hasn’t been turned on during lights out. Have to work that out. I still don’t understand the passive intake screens. I was told it would be fine, and I didn’t need an intake. I think I do. What size? I’m running an 8” exhaust fan, but it’s overkill and won’t be run at full.

Here is todays labor of love.

So, I moved slick Rick this morning. He’s too tall and was blocking the cam. I know I should be able to tell in a week or so, I’m over anxious about it of course and look carefully even now. Haha.

I sprayed 3 applications (as recommended on bottle) of purecrop 1. It specifically had stink bugs on it. I found another one today. I have no idea how he got in. They can squeeze but I’ve added a mesh cover to the spots the zipper doesn’t fill, also put natural lavender oil dryer sheets in all openings, and sealed them tight. He could have gotten in when I unzipped. He was on a stem this time though, and not a leaf. They will also eat stems, but it also was sprayed of course.

I also saw, for the first time on one leaf, a small amount of what looks like white powder. I’ll be reading what I need to do, but from memories of so much reading, I know it has to be addressed. I just have to go back and read it again. It’s not all in my head yet.

Of course it’s my sisters 50th bday. My other sister, the family holiday, bday etc cook and baker, has flu in the house (everyone is fine), and we can’t go there. Guess who’s making a cake? I’ve done it before. When I was young, adventurous, and wanted to impress an “interest.” It’s been 25 years at least. Let’s see how this goes. But it’s 2 hours I could be with the ladies. Hah. ✌️ Everyone. Have a great day!

Are you planning on doing any training? how much head height do you have? Do we know how this cultivar reacts to time change? Will it stretch, get bushy?

As for passive intake on tents, I do not use the square side vents. I use some ducting and go through the bottom round vent ports. You want to make an S or U shape through the tent so air come in but light doesnt. Those vents are ok if the room is also dark where your tent is located. I have a 6" fans and use a 6" and 8" duckting in each of my tents. And Im about to swap the 6" for another 8"

I’m just too inexperienced to know any of what to expect in the stretch. We’re a week into 12/12. I know what the descriptions say at the place purchased, but also know enough now to know it’s all dependent on so many other factors. I need to measure them, I just haven’t had the time by time I’m doing what I know I need to. Like, I needed the tent cleaned out. I’ve spilled, the pots drain, etc. I was keeping up with the visible stuff, but knew there was a mess on the floor and I was right. I mean, “mess” is a relative term. I’m just glad I did it.

I am not at all comfortable with these vent holes now that it’s actually here. I was led to believe it’s fine. The room is totally dark during the 12, but that presents it’s own issues. It’s still a used room and people are freaked out over making a mistake. I can’t stress them like that. Haha. The tape over the switch was just an idea, I haven’t done it.

My budget right now is suffering. Not in a complaining way, but we just came through the holiday, and my nephews bday (the timberlands I couldn’t get for Christmas) was the 3rd, and today is my middle sisters 50th. Her key fab is a mess and broken and I’m tired of waiting for my brother in law to take care of it, so, cash is an issue. I’ll have to do the 6”. Once I really do know what I’m doing, and “dial in,” I will expand a bit. Just to running 2. Everything will get used and I can get an 8” then, and swap. That tent will be smaller. Like ya shorty.

I’m not doing anymore training (I don’t think). I know I’m wasting opportunities for yield. I see them, I know what would happen if I got up there and did it. I really just need to get through this, with as little to actually care for as possible (a decision realized recently). Not because I don’t want to care for them. Because I do, correctly. I just feel less is better at this point. I did top everything and fim in a couple spots, and it’s all worked. One FIM was too low and i just got the two sides. I did train branches out a while back, but that’s the extent.

One of the other lessons I’ve learned this first run is that my goals were a bit lofty, it was suggested early I start with even just one, or three. I went with 9 (wouldn’t have fit where we ended up) and got 7. Still one very suspicious for male pattern. I know to be checking anyway. Feminized is cool but it’s still nature. I’m in no way giving up. I guess I need issues to pop up so I can act in the future. That’s really how I’ve decided to end this run. Just get the experience and as much knowledge as I can.

I did defoliate them days into 12/12 against a lot of advice. None asked, I was just going to seek forgiveness. All of it just read in threads. Nothing horrible happened. They were fine the next morning. I just knew they needed to be opened to air and light, and had begun filling out faster. They had been defoliated 11 days before. I know I should have done 5 and then 5. I’m just doing the best I can. This all happening right at the holiday was poor timing in the plan. Lesson learned!!

They need it again. It’s been 3 days. I see places I could expose, and lighten. Most reading and ppls exp, says 5 days between, so, I’m trying not to ignore everything. If I’d done that, there’d be a tent of dead plants (really just fresh seedlings starting over).

Thank you for the questions, and assistance, as always. Someday, when I do know what I’m doing and talk about these days, you’re all going to be in the story. I won’t rewrite it and take credit. Haha
✌️

Edit: I am worried about headroom, with the 8” exhaust, and only having the original tent height (6.7??), and not able to use the 1-2 foot extension may be an issue. I’m moving to the basement after this because of it. Have a lot of work to do to make that happen, including squaring off an area with Sheetrock. a floor of some kind etc. it’s already started, just also slowly because we don’t throw shit away. There are TV boxes down there from 4 tvs ago….all of them. Haha.

I ordered it an intake. For the price, since I purposely went overboard for the 8” for exhaust I, I just went with that

Comedy of breakdowns over here. I’m in the NE and humidity in winter, and especially in the house is about 30. I’ve kept it decent with an old evaporative humidifier. It’s crap and the filters are crap, and I’m not buying another one. I had this in the tent at first, but it’s not easily controllable and it just went too high, no matter the setting.

I’m looking at ultrasonic misters. They make them with demineralization packs to help, so I can use my water. Maybe even the softened to help a bit.

Anyone with a brand in mind? I could take weeks to decide. I know I’ll be ok for flower because I want it lower. I’ll need it for drying conditions etc. @stp @ComfortablyNumb @m4s73r @PK1 @Slickrick82 ??

I’ve seen people with heater and humidifier in tent. It didn’t work for me. There’s not a lot of room now. I could make it work, if maybe I need to just spend the time setting it exactly correctly, lower than I really want it. It’s all been outside the tent. Keeping the room itself warmer, so the tent doesn’t cool too much between heat coming on etc. not much I can do about that fluctuation, but it’s mild.

Im in San Diego, I only use a Walmart baby humidifier, a Frigidaire de-humidifier, an AC infinity 6”exhaust fan, NIWA hub, Timber daisy (5) grow lights and some fans. That’s it for technology for me out here. I know nothing about what you are talking about but it sounds like growing is a bitch where you are from…you gotta find a way to simplify and make it easier or you won’t stick with it. Trust me, I want to quit all the time because of little hassles….

It’s gonna start to be a pain to water all these once plants get bigger. Why did you take mulch covers off earth boxes? Decided to use straw instead?

It’s keeping me running for sure. I don’t want to give up, im seeing this as all good lessons. I thought I’d taken my time, had what i needed, etc. I was proud of myself for not just “jumping.” You see the result. Part of it is just my personality. Anxious etc. I have people telling me not to worry at all about RH etc. Well, why is there so much info on it? It’s working again for now but I need something better. Natural RH is never over 30% in the house.

give up? I can see why I should or would. Ha. I won’t though. This is a long time coming and I just decided to take matters into my own hands. Dispensaries are rip offs etc. When there is any product at all, I’ll be happy.

I was actually in my basement last night sneaking a cigarette (shhh), and wondered if it was always that warm 🤣🤣. Down there we keep the humidity at 45, adding in winter and taking out in summer. Down there I’ll have better control I think. More room, etc etc.

The tent vents have bothered me from the beginning. It’s a shared house, and the tent isn’t even really in my part of it. Haha. They’re so good about it. But, they need to once in a while go in there. I can’t control it for sure if I’m not here. Fixed!! (Well, I’m a day or two)

There are people who grow here successfully all the time of course. It’s me that needs the adjustments.

I really appreciate the patience and the way you all tell me what I need to hear. In other places they yell at you. lol. ✌️
