I’m not trying to be difficult on purpose. I will PH the water. I understand how etc.
You married? Have kids? Do you give them medicine before you know whats wrong?
Figure this out before you adjust anything.
Soil ingredient list please with all the stuff you added in.

We need the ingredient list of your soil. The little probe pH readers are junk. If you're going to get one, get a decent one.
I’m on the road, not trying to be lazy, I brought up the mix, these aren’t my pics etc. from the page and then just a pic I grabbed

I am going to run up there since I’m close. There’s always something I’ll need. Yuca, I’ll need that soon so, going.

I’ve added craft blend from BAS, Kashi Blend, and Rootwise stuff, on schedules etc. when they were in 3 gals they got a BAS build a bloom top dressing, and showed no problems until in the boxes.

I know it’s something I’m overlooking and needed to give you guys more info. Thanks for taking the time to help, even with me being frustrating. ✌️

I haven’t done anything yet, that’s why I’m here. So I don’t make it worse.

No worries.
I do not see any lime in your mix, but I do see Gypsum. So, I think your pH is too low.

Do a slurry test when you get home and lets see where it is currently.

Slurry test for sure. I would also check to see how moist the top half you earth boxes are.

Surprised there is no lime in that soil mix. Wonder what source of peet they are using.
Have you check out your water harndness and CaCO3 ppm?

I can’t use my water. The sodium ppm is way too high. I could use it from my sisters 10 mins away, with a carbon filter but everyone has modern faucets and it’s winter. Outside access is frozen. I’m buying water. It was individual gallons, but that grossed me out quick from the plastic waste. I have 5 3gallon jugs I refill. I’ll be doing a rain barrel when winter is over. For now it’s still bottled. Which is just RO with “minerals added.”

I have a natural spring 25 minutes away in Saratoga. That’s where I should be taking it. It’s cold, I’m busy as hell and worn out. I do have a physical (not just mental 🤣🙄) disability. I’m bending to care for plants etc when the plan was to be able to take them out and do them at table level. Haha. Not complaining, just part of it. The tent is upstairs too, and the only other choice is the basement, which I have decided to move too. It’s a lot of up and down which I’m not used to.

I will grab a cheap meter, and only the meter (& yuca). I will follow those directions when I get home. After I lug this water in, and smoke one.

Thank you, all! I’m listening. Promise.

Have you posted your local water report?

@Slickrick82, I will be scouring your posts and or journal. That’s how I end up learning the most. Like with @stp. It’s all there, maybe not my specific issues showing up, but the process etc. I will get there!! I’m still super excited about the soil more than the plant (which was weird) but again, I know what it will give me if I do this right. The soil is fascinating. Haha.
For shure

Yes, but I’m not sure it’s in this thread. @Aqua Man took a look at it for me way back in the beginning because I knew my sodium levels, and others were misunderstanding when I talked about Sodium ppm in my water. I’ll find it. I promise I can’t use it though. Horticulturist, soil makers, BAS, etc all said the same I’d read in an article early on which gave me the worry, and contributed to my outdoor problem in the summer. I don’t actually count that. They were clones dropped off and I had no idea what to do. But it did lead me here to indoor growing and knowing much more. BUT! Only enough to be confused and really dangerous to the ladies.

I’m here for the pen and Yuca. When I’ve done the test I will report. I will post my water report too. I have the photo, and can just grab it again. If it wasn’t for the sodium, it would be fine.

Edit: I’m ok with this water method right now. I’m paying way less a gallon than in a store, I’m not wasting plastic bottles, putting in an RO (only thing to reduce sodium isn’t appealing for other reasons) that’s all this bottled water is but I’m not seeing the waste. I know, why does it matter? It’s still wasted. I don’t have a choice for this run. I have it worked out for the future.

They did ask why I needed the pen (they know I’m in a bit too deep for not having the understanding, and also are a HYDRO store. Wanted to sell me dolemite, which I understand I may need, but I’m not buying or adding anything until I’ve done the test etc.. I feel pretty confident if I can identify the issue, you can all tell me how to help it.

Thats awesome I just hate carrying that much soil around lol
Don’t think for one second I carried it up. Hahaha. They may not know things and be bored of hearing about it but they’ll all want to share if I pull anything out of there. They can help.

The hydro store didn’t have a “soil pen” just the stick in soil type. I didn’t get it because that’s not what you said to do, or using in the pic. I do have a digital water PH/PPM tester I got early on (I was adjusting then as I started in happy frog, as I knew this was too hot (won’t do that again). I don’t know if that’s going to give the accuracy we want but I did stick it in. If we’re going to go by it, or even in it’s range, I’m at 5.25. Which I know is an issue. BUT! I did take it from about an inch or two down, it’s the freshest of what’s in the earth box, and have now read maybe take a sample at another spot. There’s no a lot of “dry” because the earth boxes are wicking, emptying, wicking etc. I could take it from the 7gals but they don’t have a problem. Lights are out, I just made it to grab the sample, and will do better tomorrow. There’s another organics store, in the next city, I can probably get a correct pen for. Thanks for all of this! Here is the water report, as promised. I hate this thing
And the water PH pen I used just to do. I’ll get the right thing if their calibrated or made differently. I get that it’s a slurry and this is probably fine.

2nd edit. Use CPAP so used distilled water. Just realizing, “slow” I should have just used the bottled water I’m using. I can’t really trust it’s what it “should be” because of what it really is. It’s just better than the sodium.

You need to add lime because your pH is too low. Get 2 cups of lime (dolomite is fine) and lightly dust the soil and till it into the top inch. Then water.

Thank you!! It came with the earth boxes actually. I’ll check what it is though really first.

I have to thank everyone for being so patient with me with the facts being so painfully obvious. It’s mentioned above, in a not at all judgmental way, just factually. Which is also rare in public forums of all kinds. I’m just comfortable with my experience here.

I am at this point so I am taking the crash course in the plant and the medium. I can’t look back. I know it’s correct. In the words of one of my favorite artists…

I couldn’t walk, and I tried to run…. JL.

The 2 cups is for the entire Earth box, not one plant.

There is one plant in each. It’s about 9 gallons of soil.

I’ll test the pots tomorrow too. I’m sure it’s the same or close and will show up soon.
how much in those?
2 tablespoons per gallon is 18 tablespoons each 9 gallon planter.

Got it! Thank you, again, so much!! I’ve looked at the stuff that came with the earth boxes, 1 per box actually, with a few other things and I believe this dolemite is what is says it is. It’s here and it’s going in now, at the rate & method you said to use. ✌️

Doing ok over here. Have done what I can for the soil PH (unless someone knows a quicker way). I’ve spoken to BAS, taken the mulch cover off my earth boxes as it was likely just to moist for my conditions. Now I’m unsure (because I forgot to ask) if I should use a mulch like the rice hull on the 7’s. I don’t want it drying completely. Anyway, I’ll look for @stp for help on that. I know he’s using them to great success (in my eyes of course. I’m sure he knows what needs to be improved on his next run).

as far as my ladies and I, I did something before asking, because I’d rather have the forgiveness on this one than the No. I read everything I should, and knew I was taking risks. I’ve been in flower a week tomorrow, so, in my reading, I thought it to be a bit less risky than what some were saying.

After the topping and last defoliation, with the very little time I had to do things, I didn’t go back in after 5 days and should have. They were so bushy, there couldn’t possibly be air getting in and spots were covered everywhere. I did a pretty heavy leaf snip. No branches. Like, I almost gave them a buzz cut. Haha. They did look sad, and I was a bit concerned, like last time, but this morning when the light came on they are standing happy. I have no idea what leaves I cut that we’re needed for “power,” and I will learn from this as I see it. I know I needed to be doing the defoliating all along so it wouldn’t have been as bad. It just kind of crept up on me. Rather than deal with the issues we all know that will cause, especially in a tent, I took a chance. I’m just at that place. I’m ready for the next 7-8 weeks, for the learning, but I really just want it over with now so I can start again, with this experience, and all the knowledge I’ve gotten here, with me.
