Fuckin love this tune. And the Deftones in General. Saw them at the Commodore ballroom too. Wicked show with only like 1500 people in a small venue. Fuckin awesome.
I'd be lying if I said I'm not a bit envious. Would've much rather have seen them instead of Tool.

Chucked the first girls. They weren't drying uniformly, so they're all in paper bags now. Gonna try to drag the dry out to 10-14 days before jarring up. It's five or six days since they were chopped, so it's not a huge deal but ime keeping the drying as long and slow as possible leads to the best smelling and tasting product. In the process, the smells were definitely heavy limonene with some bitterness like massive parsley stalks being cut by some grapefruit or something. Very interesting smell, that's for sure. Collected a little somethin somethin in the process too. This was just from breaking branches down to about 4" pieces with buds and leaves still in tact. Not much, but it's somethin.

I'll say @tobh, I know I suggested 3 waterings per day to runoff but after our discussions I decided to adopt the crop steering philosophy to my watering this time doing the same as you, with up to 8 waterings a day, no runoff until about the third and manipulating WC in the veg and generative phases. I really like how it's been working. But like you, I've made too many small tweaks this run to know exactly what is doing what, but I can tell you something is working lol.

Hey tobh, great thread and your grow looks really solid, This was my first time running the 4x4 and slab as well. For me I found the same thing 3 watering wasn't enough, i'm in the 4th week of flower now and doing 6, I had 2 thoughts on this, 1 keeping doing the 6 to 8 waterings each day or 2 next time not put as many as holes in he slab. I put 4 slits in the slab 2 on each side one on either end, I'm thinking next time put one smaller slit on each side and on either end, in hopes the slab hold move water and doing maybe 5 watering a day . I found I never need to do run off much at all, not to correct PH or PPM anyhow. I found that to stay very stable and on point for me. so i'm thinking of doing a run off once every few days maybe more just to flush the slab a bit. I'm thinking I can get better results and use less water if the slabs just held a bit more.

yeah, with the two extra holes you might've introduced a bit more opportunity for evaporation. when i clean out the tent, i'll snag pics of how i cut the slits on the slabs. two on the bottom corner on each side, about 1" length for each slit.

it also might be however much each shot is that's contributing to the more excessive dryback. ideally you want some runoff, 10-15% daily simply to ensure full saturation occurs at some point and no stagnant areas of the media exist. totally understand the desire to not have runoff though. it does feel a bit wasteful unless you're able to use it on other plants like veggies or ornamentals.

Won't be doing it this way again haha. Putting all that together took roughly five or six hours. Doing the grow itself was easier than digging through archives and ordering shit in the right way. If someone gains insight from any of this though, it'll have been worth the effort.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I was taking some notes here & there all the way thru last night. Prob take heat for saying this but I wish all grow journals were like this but with comments collapsed under the post. Would sure make the bullshit easier to sort through at times...I don't know how many times I've had to waste an hour trying to find something in Aquaman's Watering Coco post.

Enjoyed the read man ,thanks!

nah, you're right man. that's what makes reddit such a nice platform imo. most of the content is bullshit but conversations are collapsed and organized in a different way. i feel your pain for sure with having to fish for hours to find that one post you know you read one time that was relevant to the problem you're having now haha

Ya man, if you ever need to go back to look for something in one of @Dirtbag journals you have felt the same pain lol.

It moves quick lol. I recommend screenshots if you want to remember something. I've gone looking for things I'd posted the day before and had to filter through 5 pages of half cut banter and music videos to find it lol.

Nice work man, great job documenting it all. Too bad about the end, but youre right, theres always something. Im glad to see Im in good company here regarding defoliation :). My current run I was trying to go light on it to see what happens but Im normally a full strip at the end of week 2 kinda guy. This is my first grow in my current room before and after strip. Big Bazooka.

Good call on the screenshot cause the I'll get back to it is not working nor is the I'll remember that for later at this point. 😂

I do copy n paste stuff into a notepad doc if I'm on the pc and it's pertinent at the time.

certainly man, you're in kind company with a few of us. i won't go so heavy next round, probably more like you did here. that second strip completely killed the stretch, and now i have two things i want to try:

1. full strip earlier in the cycle. like day 14, not day 21.
2. lighter hand on the second round.

@Dirtbag also seems to have noticed an improvement over going nuclear the second strip. He did something similar to what you've done and the results have been quite impressive. his plants saw absolutely no stall whereas mine seemed to go into suspended animation for a few days after the second strip.

I have posts saved/bookmarked here...never been able to find them... 😆
i think you'll be able to find em if you go to your profile and there should be a section in there. i don't use that feature, i use the advanced search if i really need to dig into something. most of the time i just forget about it and wing it lol

I was just there the other day, looked again briefly, saw something else of interest for a minute forgot about it for time being lol.
I'll find it or I won't I suppose.

Wow...blind as a bat...I always got hung up on the account page thinking it should be under your content section...gonna blame it on dark mode & not seeing tab all this time.
The format on the PC has a bit to desired.

Anyways, thanks 😊
don't get me started on the UX of this platform. i HATE xenforum (the PaaS this runs on). Too facebook-y and they eliminated a ton of features the old platform (pretty sure it was phpBB) had.

onto the next planning phase for a project. plan is to setup a two tier NFT system for the lady and the kiddos to grow some lettuce with (obviously I'll be the guiding hand on making sure they're successful). Now I'm split on how to proceed.

Placement will be in the living room next to the entertainment center. I'm most partial to running T5's as they aren't crazy intense so won't burn the lettuces and herbs we're planning on running. You know, easy shit for kids and hydro newbs to run.

Dimensions of the space I'd like to use are 30" x 20" x 48". This will give the kids a tier and the adults a tier.

14" of the vertical height will be consumed with reservoir space.

I'm having the quandry now though, should I just get a tent for out there? That'll keep us from having to endure the excess light while watching tv and whatnot. However, I could run the lights at a weird offset schedule when we won't be bothered by the lights for the majority of the time we're using the room. Lettuce and herbs only require 12-14 hours of light a day, and I'm sure ambient won't affect them significantly enough to really be a problem.

Whatchu all think? I don't really want another tent, but it would make the build a bit more cosmetically pleasing and a good conversation piece when guests come over (what's that? BAM bitch, home grown lettuce. $5 a head.) I'm just hitting dead ends finding tents that fit the size requirements.
