Just over two weeks, ready to top ?

Been reading about topping but it seems like there is a wide range of opinions on this. This plant is growing fast and I want the new bottom growth to get light. Hoping to make it into three branches.

I wait until I have 5-6 nodes before topping. You look to be there and should be all good to top now.

I’m not sure what you mean by three branches? Are you trying to mainline or just top to break dominance?

You can top as much as you want. Each time you top you create 2 new top colas. Topping once will definitely help make it more bushy.

The first plant was topped 3 times and trained for mainline the second plants were all topped just once.

There are many methods I obviously don’t know how to do. I want the most buds sites. That’s my main goal. I’ve read a lot of the articles here but specifics vary.
Appreciate any advice, and articles to help me without asking so many questions

It’s as much a science as it is an art man. If your just starting out growing then I would suggest just top once. Keep it simple and learn from your grow, watch where bud sites develop, keep a journal or a data log to reference back to. Keep reading on here and using the search to find good threads.

you can also simply bend the top part of the plant down, and itll also help bush out, BUT

Cutting off the head of the plant AND bending it over, you'll get a fuckin bush.

i sometimes top as early as possible, second node but i see alot of people here wait till 3d or 5th or even 8th or so.

you can really top it whenenever, depends how tall you want it, how bush you want it, how much space you got.

i top early sometimes to get those new shoots out and growing.

Thanks for making it simpler. This is my first grow so, I’ll take your advice and do one topping an learn from it

to add: cutting off the head breaks up the apical dominance, plant goes haywire, hormones everywhere, then it just starts to fuckin grow out everywhere light is hitting, bending it down will set the structure up for a bush, and help light get down to lower growth.

Thanks, I’m a visual kinda guy ! That’s what I needed to see. Seems like a lot of abuse for a three week old plant, but I’ll try it ! Have five about the same size going now. Maybe just top two, top and bend two. I feel like a mad scientist.

no problem, i am the same way!

have fun with it, experiment, can always take clones and also experiment with those if ya dont wanna mess with the main ones too much. just be gentle take ya time.
