This was my first grow with Blue Dream. Everything Im reading indicates a flowering time of 9-10 weeks. The photos taken today at day 45 in flower. I should be looking for 1/2 milky and 1/2 amber and that is what Im seeing on at least 1/2 of the buds. I would prefer to harvest too late than too early for terps but the perfect time is ideal. If a pro could lend me their experienced eye I would greatly appreciate it.

Whip a middle sized bud off the middle of your plant some were, microwave it on a plate, in thirty second bursts until its dry, give it a toke and see what you think, if it needs longer, then give it longer. Bare in mind that the microwaved bud only be half as good as an air dried bud.

I see a lot of white pistils there meaning it needs more time.

I’ve done a ton of testing using TLC on proper harvest time and the generalization is the longer you flower the more complex the plant and minor cannabinoids become more prevalent or at least in measurable quantities.

CBG has its uses as does CBN, THCV, and all the others. They not only act individually like CBN helps with sleep but they also steer the buzz because they work differently on our cannabinoid receptors.

now if The genetics of what you are growing doesn’t have any potential for those more time won’t help. But if they are there in the genes, more ripening almost always does help.

I’ve grown blue dream and find it has a moderate capability for complexity but is highly steered towards THC. Even THC will benefit from more time.

if you have the ability to add UVA or UVB and want to experiment blasting them a couple more weeks with that will bring out latent anthocyanin production and seems to trigger CBG, although my data set on the CBG is only a positive correlation and not statistically proven at this point.

not sure what you are doing for nutes but now is the time to get really specific with additives like sulphur to bring out the most terpenes.

Wow, wasnt expecting that. Thanks for sharing your research. This has been a 100% organic grow using a blend of Gaia Green 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 throughout the grow. The last top dressing was 2 weeks ago. I water with RO & Calmag, molasses, and a little bit of liquid seaweed. I make a compost tea every 2 weeks but decided 2 weeks ago was the last one. The molasses im using contains sulfur, would that bring on more terps?

I’m not a fan of molasses from input by @Aqua Man but I grow hydroponically so maybe some dirty farmers can step in? I’m certainly not an authority on finishing in organic soil.

but really nice job so far

A very common misconception I see all the time is people thinking molasses feeds the plants. Dr Av Singh is a soil biologist and talks about this in perfect gardens podcast.
minute 34:05 if you just want the part about terpenes. The whole podcast is super interesting though.

Interesting watch. For clarity though the intention is that the microbes feed the plant, molasses is dessert for the microbes thus the the biweekly compost teas.

You answered your own question, “flowering time of 9-10 weeks, on day 45 of flower.” 🤔 long ways to go. Always check trichs on actual nug, not a sugar leaf. Happy grows.
