I’m laughing out loud. Because that rumbling sound you hear is the sound of cannabis stocks and investments about to crash to the ground like falling rocks. Just when they're about to get access to legal banking and be able to IPO nationally in a big way. For years I’ve been warning investors to stay away from the marijuana market. I said it is destined to crash. Simply because people at home can grow it like tomatoes. But it is crashing earlier than expected for another reason. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Maybe they can continue the morally bankrupt attempt to legalize and market MDMA and other hallucinogens. So people can screw up their brains and end up on psychiatric medication.

The dispensaries got $300 of my money and that’s it. Because I grow my own. In my state they couldn’t keep up with demand and had to import flower from other states. Recently a recall went out because they found fungicide and insecticide in the product. I remember watching a YouTube large-scale medical marijuana grower talking about the insecticide he was about to use. Huh? It will fade and not be a problem, they say. So much for organic methods. It didn’t “fade” in the bud at the local dispensary. You’ll never see me in there again.

So what is about to make the people holding marijuana stocks go bat shit crazy? What is making them whine to Washington politicians about the consequences of capitalism? Commercial hemp. They have found a way to synthesize enormous quantities of synthetic THC from the commercial cousin of our favorite herb. And they can do it dirt-cheap. So all those new-age hippies who were pushing commercial hemp products didn’t understand that as usual the big corporate entities were about to take over the whole shebang. Like they take over everything else. It is going to be marketed like cigarettes. And I predict that the big tobacco companies are going to buy every company in the commercial hemp business. Fine bud is about to become a cottage industry. And also go where it belongs. In the hands of private citizens. But you’ll still be able to buy a cartridge that will get you really stoned at the convenience store. For about the price of a pack of cigarettes or a fifth of vodka. Grab one on your way out when you stop in to get a “Forty.” It was inevitable. They’ll have every flavor. They’ll make it taste like anything people want.

And it makes it easier for the government to tax and regulate. Less people to monitor when the big boys wipe everyone else out. Better for the consumer when laws relax, legalization occurs and a buzz is cheaper. But for investors and smaller grow operations? It really sucks to be you. Especially after you borrowed all that money. There’s always bankruptcy. They’ll be asking for federal subsidies and bail-outs in not time. To prop up something that is already the “Walking Dead.”

Grow at home. They can stick their overpriced product. Selling a tiny jar of weed for $60 to a patient dying of cancer who is already spending $3000 a month on medicine. Something you can grow like a vegetable. And not even having it free of contaminants. These greedy bastards are about to get what’s coming to them.

Dispensary weed sucks for the most part. I'm done with it. Over produced, dry crumbly mediocre weed. You need to grow it with love not greed. Weed has a weird karma to it. Even back in the day when it was illegal, if the grower decided to get greedy and have big grows they would usually get caught. It is a medicine for the people. Everyone should be growing its like tomatoes.

I can't argue that home grown weed and tomatoes aren't great, or that everyone should be growing. But the fact is that most people don't grow tomatoes or weed and they are not likely to start. Most people will accept dispensary weed.

Here in Fla. we are working on legal rec. first didn’t pass because corp was behind and didn’t allow home cultivation or carting any quantity- they wanted you in their dispo!
Fast forward 2 years they have reworked the bill to include home cultivation of up to 18 plants -

where I’m going is they did studies and surveys in other legal states and found only 3% of consumers will grow.

As a consumer, and a fairly active investor I agree with a lot of what you said Dirty. I owned a few Cannabis stocks years ago and didn't like the volatility. Question: Can someone tell me why dispensary weed is so cheap in Oregon? Id pay 4-6 times what they pay for an Ounce at a Michigan Dispensary.

Because it is everywhere in Oregon. So much so that it has lost a lot of monetary value. I have spent thousands on dispensary weed and am just fed up with the quality. Usually they overbuy and they don't know how to store it so it is usually crumbly and dry. garbage weed. I do go to a couple of dispensaries that have some good herb but it is top shelf and expensive.

Yeah my dispensary in Ann Arbor Mi is inconsistent and I know its not an easy task but they never seem to stock the same weed twice. Its always a rotation and roll of the dice. I have an ounce of some damn weed I bought thats stuffed in my emergency drawer it tastes so lousy. Ive been buying pot regularly since 1975. Ive probably spent upwards of $200,000 on marijuana in my life. Ive spent 1500.00 setting up a grow tent that should sustain me with 2 grows a year. Maybe one more trip to the dispensary for me then good bye.

Oregunion here;
Dispensary weed here is so cheap because it’s the oldest shit on the shelves.
Once it hits a year old they drop an once to 20 bucks! Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
New weed is still top price at the same time.
I just saw a 1/2 pound of medical advertised in east Portland for $110 bucks, $10 of it is tax! fucking kidding me!

I've lived in cali, co and spent a lot of time in or. and wa. and other states that have went completely stupid with rec weed. I'm in Ok. and spend a fair amount of time in ar. I've been busted for growing in Ok. and stared down a 30 year prison stay. And money saved my ass. I had the money to fight it. Only got 30 days county and two years felony probation and then my record struck clean. But that cost a shit load of money. The cat they nabbed after me he didn't have the cash and he got a 20 year stretch for one plant. As much as it sucked during the illegal days here,,,, it's much much worse under the current medical mj system we have now. And I will never vote for recreationally use here. It's coming but I wont vote for it. The influx of out of staters, failed grows, trash, people that have ruined the mj industry and political discord in other states now flocking here and into ar. is stunning. Last month they had a state wide bust trying to wipe out the folks from China putting in money laundering grows. They were all grows funded by the government of china. They were shipping weed to texas and all over the northeast. It has turned into a free for all mess here. Grows and dispensary's come and go like changing your under ware. It's like a tornado came through but they rebuild nothing they destroy. Maybe it's just me being a 61 year old grump now in the most conservative state in the nation and like it my way..

I've been seeing better prices at dispensaries in the last few months (same state as you). Still the same dry, poorly cured if cured at all product.
