First time grower !!! Droopy and purple steams

Hi Guys,

This is my first time growing indoor and I amexperiencinsg some issues with these plant. They look very droopy and they are also showing some purple color in the stems. Is this normal ? any advise?

This is my set up:
Strain: Jack Here Autoflower
Grow tent 4x4
Beginning of week #5
soil: 5 gallon pot Ocena Forrest (Fox farm)
Spider Farmers SE 5000 Dim
First time grower droopy and purple steams 3
at 80%
Temperature: 26-28 C
RH: 55-60
Watering: ONLY ph water 6.2 - 6.5. every three days with 1.5 Liter of water per plant
NO nutrients has been added since seeding

I see your sensorpush there, can you post a screenshot of the chart over the last day and week? It really looks like humidity to me.

What's your light schedule?

Over watering. Watering on a schedule like that isn't the way. Water when the pot is dry. You see any little black flies in your tent?

Just curious newbie here too but dont they look droopy like that just after they sat in the dark for six hours until they sit back up?

The problem is that they stay like that for the entire time the light is on for the last 2 days

Have you tested your runoff PH and TDS? Id want to eliminate a ph imbalance/lockout first. You should have plenty of nutrients available with that soil. If the ph is right that is. For that matter whats your water PH and TDS you water with.

My PH meter broke and I am still waiting for the new one to arrive in the mail but until then I am using destiled water that I had measure before always between 6 - 6.5 . I have not been able to test my runoff for the last week but only water it twice since my PH meter broke. Everything started right after flower, I am about to start week #5

A tip that someone gave me earlier on which seemed kinda dumb but actually turned out to be great was if you have an extra pot the same size as the pots your plants are currently in take it and fill it with dry soil and set it next to your grow tent. So basically you can use it as a gauge to see if your pots with plants in them are the same or close to the same weig HR as the pot with just soil that you put next to your tent then your soil is dry and it’s time to water. After using this method enough times you will get use to the weight and just be able to tel when the plants need to be watered

The little black flies are fungus gnats. They are attracted to wet growing media and are a sign that you haven't let your media dry out between waterings.

As stated above, dial in your watering practices so the pot dries out between waterings. Use the weight of the pot to judge, not a set time schedule. Let them dry out and I bet they bounce back. As for the gnats, if you let them they will become an infestation. Best way to control them is to let your pots dry out completely before watering.

Hey ossie , those plants actually under watered ......
Can be tricky to determine but both under watering or overwatering will produce similar results , only you can tell us , was the pot light when you noticed the leaves in this condition ?
Either way , it's an easy fix

Thanks for your answer. In fact I put more water than usual yesterday without any nutrients and today they wake up better but I just arrived home at they still on their day cycle of 18/6 but I see them again looking droopy. Any other thing I should look out for ? Thanks mate

Yeah Look out for the Amazon driver bringing your PH and TDS pens. 😎 Also whats the temp and humidity in the tent?

You are growing small plants (at this stage) in large pots. It's going to take a while between waterings for the pot to dry out. You need at least one of those cheap $12green moisture meters. Stick it in deep, and if it is still saturated there, wait. If not, water. There is an interesting post somewhere around here that shows one of these meters sticking sideways into a pot about 1/3rd or 1/4 of the way from the bottom. Water and watch that meter. When the meter jumps, stop watering.

Another way to tell is to feel the top two inches. If still wet, leave it alone for a while longer. When you have fungus gnats, you have definitely been overwatering. Get some Neem oil to spray on the soil after each watering. You can also get some yellow sticky traps, and you can coat the top of the soil with a layer of ... perlite, I think. Maybe vermiculite.

Yet another way to tell about watering is to lift the pot and see if it is still heavy with water. This takes enough experience to know what is heavy and what is light though. And you don't want to dry so far that your plants wilt. Wilting looks different from drooping from watering. A normal watering should have the leaves pick up enough water to droop a little bit, just not much and not for that long.

I super watered a 5 gallon soil pot last year and stuck a seedling in it. It took over 3 weeks for the water to dry out enough to rewater, and during that time I'm sure the seedling roots couldn't grow to the bottom of the pot as it was soaked deep. It's tough to get watering right in a big pot.

Once the plants were full sized in veg, they really sucked up water a lot faster. I was adding 1.5 gallons every 2 days through late veg and flower.
