I have made a few mistakes as a new grower and recently have been trying to get my watering down when I switched to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. I couldn't help myself recently and when I got home I wanted to check on my plant. Doing this I introduced some light during the 12 hour off period. What are your thoughts on this? Should I do anything to make up for this? I thought I was underwatering so I opened the tent to add some water. Now I think I over watered or it's just because I watered then turned the lights back out?? I don't know. I guess I am asking if disrupting the 12 hour dark cycle by opening the tent with minimal light will affect the plant... I haven't made it a habit and keep it pretty dark still but I felt the need to mess with the plant where I probably shouldn't have. I have a live camera in the tent and don't want to disrupt the 12 hours dark cycle anymore but from this screenshot I noticed they started drooping pretty good over the last couple hours. Watering is fucking me up... I didn't water before this for about 30 hours or so. Plants looked droopy and the soil was pretty much dry as far as I could stick my fingers down it was dry. I made the mistake by turning the light on for a while and feeding it just PH water. About 5.8 or so and no nutes but PPM was like 225. Right after I turned the lights out and I see from my night camera it's droopy again... I so badly want to give it light. I'm stuck.

One time probably won't do any damage just don't interrupt the light again... Add enough water to saturate the whole pot then don't water again till its looking a bit dry and make sure they don't just sit in run off.

Dropping can be over watering. It’s recommended to not water before lights out. I would also suggest you not worry about this one time but breaking this rule can herm your plants. Best to keep them on their 12 hour darkness and check on them in the daytime.

I believe he is in cocos...? looks wilting/underwatered. (overwatered plants don't bend the stem down)
but you really need to get watering habits right or you wont harvest much of anything... water mostly during lights on or before lights on, because the water is needed for photosynthesis (or keep the roots, at least, moist during lights off)

It does look like that plant needed water, but you really have to cut the shit about opening the tent during the dark period. It prevents flowering, and it stresses plants in a way that can often lead to intersex traits. When you switch to 12/12, you change YOUR habits to suit the time you chose for daytime and nighttime, not the plant's.

Read this post on watering. Improper watering is probably the most common mistake people make.

After that single time I haven't messed with the light schedule at all and plant looks great. Something that concerns me which might not be anything but in your guys opinion does the camera I have set in the tent red led night lights affect anything? I didn't think about the camera having that dim red ring of lights around it at night. Should I remove the camera or at least turn it off during the lights out cycle because of those dim red lights from the camera?

Yes, any working lights will interupt the dark cycle. Especially red.

Awesome. Never thought about that camera being in there. I will turn it off. Hopefully it didn't do too much damage.

I don't know that the infrared on the cameras is that big a deal. It really depends on the wavelength. For instance, @Xebediah documented a timelapse grow on this thread:

And while I don't do video with mine like he did, I do still photos. I have covered the majority of the lights in the ring, I still do check my plants probably once each "night" without harm. I have done this on multiple grows. This is from a remote operated Dlink surveillance camera. (This is not introducing light by walking into the room.)

(Just to clarify, I meant standy/working lights, from equipment. Idk about ir etc from cameras 🙏)

I actually used a separate camera's infrared pointed away from the plants towards the ceiling, so the infrared was flooding the tent, but not pointed directly at the plants. I had seen a post from a commercial grower who was having issues with plants hermying that were the closest to the direct exposure of the infrared coming from their security camera. Indirect infrared isn't really an issue, but direct exposure might cause some stress.

When your eyes can see the light, so can the plants. Plant photoreceptors see way beyond human vision. Usually wavelengths in the IR or farred arent a big deal because these put the plants to sleep. But most lightsources arent strictly monochromatic and even the LEDs give off slightly PAR radiation - causing a conformation state of the photosensitive phytochrome molecule.

Actually Dr. Bugbee did a study on this and could find a delay in flowering initiation time. He used 850nm IR diodes (typically used for IR vision devices) but still, these seem to release phytobiological wavelengths in the region of <700nm. But he used a large wattage to demonstrate this, so while we cannot fully rule out an effect it may be there, just very miniscule.

Dude, buy a $500 par meter and you will be set for life :-). Your pH is way too low for container media. I suggest 6.8 pH. The ppm corresponds perfectly with average tap water. It's normal for plants to get a little droopy soon after watering; but should perk up like Dolly Parton's tits after a half day. You're acting like a father for the first time LOL. Don't make me call child welfare services on you, LMAO.

You are overwatering you plants you should be watering every 3 to 4 days

My plant needed water. It came right back and now I am more cautious of underwatering. I have also completely turned off the camera inside the tent to be safe that absolutely ZERO light of any kind gets in during the 12 off darkness period. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for your suggestion. I have raised my PH to around what you have suggested. I was trying to give low Ph because the cheap PH meter I use for soil shows completely different in my soil than what I thought I was feeding. I am also just trying to balance distilled water with pH down most of the time then PH up when I give too much, minimal nutrients here and there. I started with Fox Farms Ocean soil, pearlite and Mico. Just started to use the chart and give a third or less of what is suggested. I introduced some Calmag in the past but didn't see much of a difference. I also sprinkled in some crushed up sterilized egg shells. No clue if that is helpful at all. I believe at this point it hurts more than it gains when I read too much and watch too many videos.
