Perfect bro! Is that the ebb n flow connection that screws in? That's awesome!

That's convenient as hell! I'm gonna build mine just yours but instead of it flowing right back through the pump, it's gonna drain straight into the res. You can even keep the valve open a little while it's running to have a little drain splashing action.

I just saw dizzle's post about check valves. Do you know which one you have? I've tested the one you're using and didn't notice any difference in pressure. But then again, I didn't have any kind of instrument to test it with. Time to look for my valves to see.

Week 2 pics will be delayed a day this week. I need to get another barrel or 3 to store R.O. Water for res changes.

As said before its a work in progress and I will update all the "upgrades". As I find them. I already have 2 or 3 simple procedural things that will help people I hope. I figure that if a everyone learns from my mistakes, togother we will only make them once! :) This grow is a experiment to make sure that I should go ahead with a 10 Plant !0 light grow with 3 1500's in the middle. That is really the end game, but baby steps, lol.

Speaking of the 1500 monsters. I have one coming in late next week, and hopefully 2 more to follow. I have seen the 1500's in a hood and they are a whole new level. I guess you just have to see them to really appreciate how bright 206,000 lumens is. Sure 140,000 is alot with a 1k but the 1500's make the 1k's look like the bulb burnt out or something, lol. I'll post picks as soon as I get the first one and I hope I can get some pictures to do it justice.

Damn bro, can't wait to see the 1500s in action! One of those should kick ass in a magnum xxxl! Lead the way, bro! I'm here to make some mistakes with ya lol

Hey bro, looks like I pointed you in the wrong direction with the check valves. The one I got from lowes is definitely a spring valve. It will work for ya but you might want to change it out to a bigger valve or better yet, a bigger swing valve. When I was testing my valves, I was using a smaller pump so I didn't notice the restrictions. After doing a little research, i've found that the gph flow is majorly restricted with the smaller valves. The 3/4" swing valve can only flow 750 gph, not sure about the spring valves...probably similar? I've put up some links so you can see what will work for your water pump. I'm gonna need to get a 1.25" swing valve so I can flow my entire 1800gph pump. I'm not sure if all the check valves have the same flow restrictions but these might give ya a better understanding. Maybe i'm analyzing this all wrong? lol

3/4" swing valve - flows up to 750 gph/12.5 gpm

1" swing valve - flows up to 1200 gph/20gpm

1.25" swing valve - flows up to 2100 gph/35gpm

Lost we will all be jonesing to see the 1500's, good luck man.

You won't be able to swing the power or heat or cost for 4 of them though, you have to stop at 3? Not that 3 won't be fun to see, just wondering...

Hey lost I was told the check valve should be vertical, close to the pump and as low as possible in the res, for maximum effect. They make a barbed 3/4 fitting that glues into either side of that check valve, so you could avoid the pvc and have a more flexible check/bypass valve...

Hey if you can do a DIY mini-split install thread, your experiences here would be greatly appreciated by many of us....

Ok, I scrapped the manifold. The spring requires too much pressure. Anyone got a link for the swing door or ball type?

Hey lost I did a quick google search for landscape irrigation supplies in LA and got a bunch of hits. Anyone of those places will either have or know where to find a 3/4 swing valve, Im sure they will have the barbed fittings that glues into either side.

The 1500's I have seen in actoin. draw less amp's then lumitec 1,ooowatt's.
Can't wait to see how they do vertical.
In a xxxl hood they are great. so vert should be insane.

Its delayed, will be here next week :( I might throw a few 1500 MH in there. I found out they are only like 150 bucks for a mag ballast 1500 and the MH buld puts out 165,000 lumens. Meh, i dunno..

Fuck I need a warehouse.

Im going to stop at 3 because of heat and cost. I could not get the hommie hook-up on these bad boys.. :(

Kushpheen, if you're using a pump bigger than 750 gph, the 3/4" swing valves aren't big enough.

Here's the one I got for my 1800 gph pump. It's clear so you can see if everything is working ok.

Yeah bro, I don't know if the increased lumens is worth the additional heat. I wonder how hot these babies get? Good that you're testing it for us :)

i read that bit about the gph on the check valves, it may say that but if its just a swing valve it doesnt choke the flow a drop. im not sure if its the same one i got but its just a paper thin piece of plastic hanging, flow pushes it up backflow pulls it close. I cant wrap my head around why it would cut down the flow rate, my buckets filled the same speed before i put it on

I don't know if it cuts it down for sure. It might just be how much flow the flap can handle since it's so thin? It may work fine but for how long? We could use some expertise in this area.

edit: I just found this link about friction loss. It has a little info about piping size matched with pump size and length of your runs. Might be useful...
