Lookey luscious leaves lusting long and fat,
Sea wear it looks like I could make an afghan hat.

The five leaf clover of the cranial bliss,
Rub my nose in it and taste my lips.

Cough-e-cough-cough, what is thishit,
Flying so high in my mess ear schmitt.

Ran out of gas and the ground is looking quick,
Bet ear bail out wit the balls and me dick.

Safe was the landing, what a fucking hit,
Watch out when you take the buds first lit.

No problemo, show em whos boss!!
Being “boss” just sux some days! Long and busy day yesterday. Caught up today tho and that’s a good thing as it’s feed the girls and transplant clone day!
In answer to your question.. I allow my ladies from the jump to be 4-6” taller than my table top. I prefer actually six to eight inches but it also adds the possibility of broken limbs if not done ever so gently. Laying the entire limb below the table will evenly expose all Bud sites to the light. I do not scrog top until I go to flower. Waiting for 80% of the table to fill prior would be a disaster to me, too full, too many leaves and not enough room to even stretch.
So, take a good look at how full your table is now, and realize that it could be four times bigger after the stretch. 🙂

Bro this is fkn lit!! I love it! Especially the Messerschmitt part, Im a WW2 buff since I was a kid. I read this while listening to stoner doom music and it was strangely appropriate. Cheers friend!

Hello Cannagranny! Hope your doing well and enjoying the last vestiges of summer! My bad i took so long to reply, Ive been doing masonry in 90% humidity and 90 degree weather so my brain is fried afterwards lol, my plants are lucky they even get my undivided attention :P. Good that your keeping busy! Transplanting clone day sounds fun! Are you transplanting them into their final pots or is this a stage?

As for my tent and impending armaggedon it seems: I dont think of the stretch as a horizontal thing, im thinking they will just stretch upwards and I'll do minimal tucking under the scrog net when I flip. Luckily these are both 8 week strains, and the afghan is 90% indica so I don't expect a big stre

I'm gonna do a BIG TIME MAMMA JAMMA defoliation this monday, then flip them the following monday. I feel I have overvegged by playing it a bit loose. My scrog net is also a disaster this time haha. I am gonna rock a bamboo one for my spider farmer tent for sure.
However my vpd seems on point with a lot lower humidity this time and the girls are A-OK. 45 DLI and 74f/50RH. I'm gonna slowly lower it through flower to the 30% range...hopefully

Here they are, the white widow has definitely caught up a bit to the afghan cookies. I have also been defoliating the white widow a bit little by little over past week so it's helped a bit.

JMO but I see what CG's getting at. From the pic it looks pretty crowded on that canopy. I'd be afraid of PM with it that crowded. My suggestion would be to try and strategically eliminate some of the foliage so that you get better air flow though the canopy. I don't remember seeing a side view so that may already be the case but from the top view pic it looks like it needs more pruning.

Here's how I like to leave my girls ready to get netted and flipped.

Trimmed for flower

Heck yeah man! That's gonna be a nice field of sticky goodness! Are you running Blurple lights? I can't help but love that color temp lol.

So the way I understand White Powdery Mildew is that it needs to be there in the first place in order for it to proliferate. Having lots of fans and good exhaust will also help remove any wet spots between leaves. I have 3 fans strategically aimed both over and under the canopy, with one blowing fresh air up through the bottom. I also have 2 exhaust fans, one is on low constantly removing the stale air and replacing it with fresh, filtered air, and the second lowers the RH if it gets outta hand. I also keep my grow area sparkling clean, and manage my air with filters, so I'm not too worried about WPM.

However, that being said, you are right that I am an open target for WPM with the fricken jungle I have grown, which a why the leaf armageddon will take place asap.

Well I couldn't take it anymore and the girls got a mega haircut. I went from using the scissors to just snapping off the leaves by hand. I have gotten used to pruning without the scissors with my tomato plants and it makes things go A LOT QUICKER. I still have to use the scissors for the lollipop of some of the branches though as ya gotta snip the thick branches.

I figure one more defoliation a couple weeks into flower will be enough for me to try and replicate my last/1st grow. Was actually quite cathartic to lollipop the bejeezus out of em. The White Widow needed it bad. From now on I'm for sure gonna defoliate a bit more aggressively below canopy during veg. I guess taking a couple leaves every couple days won't stress them too bad. Trying to fine tune what I did last grow and defoliation is one of them I gotta work on. I'm also increasing the PPMs cuz I think I have the beginnings of a potassium def, which will sort itself out with the bloom nutes I think, but I feel the afghan can take more ppm and the white widow shouldn't mind. Flipping in about 4 days.

Also, this album is definitely love it or hate it, but for those weirdos like me who like this obscure doom metal genre, this tune is a good one and accompanied my lollipopping session aforementioned. 🌿 💨 🌿 💨

Yes. The idea is that anything growing 6" or 7" below the canopy line won't get enough light to be productive and will only rob the energy needed to boost the canopy colas. Of course that measurement depends on how intense your light is. If you were running double ended HID's then you could probably keep a deeper canopy since HID tends to penetrate deeper into the canopy. When I worked at Jungle Boys in L.A. their policy was anything 12" below canopy got removed and every other fan leaf in the sweet zone got removed. They ran Gavita DE1000 Pro's in their bloom rooms.

The general rule when HID's were the standard lighting choice was to remove 2/3 of the bottom and leave the last 1/3 but with LED's they don't have the penetration power that HID lights do. That may have changed with new LED's but until I learn otherwise that is the general rule.

As far as PM, spores are probably already in your tent but because the girls are as healthy as they are and you have good ventilation it isn't giving them a chance to get a foothold. A dense canopy will give them the chance to hide from the ventilation and the added moisture from the protection of the canopy will promote the breeding grounds for PM to take hold and spread.

One of the things that was drilled into my head working at licensed grow ops was cleanliness and safety protocols. Maybe I'm being overly cautious but PM on my 6 plants is no big deal, more an annoyance than anything else, but when you have a room with 200 plants and they're all infected that is some serious cash that the owners are going to lose. That's why large grow ops are so anal about cleanliness. You and I can obsess over our plants and catch every little issue instantly because we have a limited amount of plants we have to monitor but, again, if even one of the Large Grow Op plants gets infected it's hard to catch it early and it will spread VERY quickly. A lot of grow ops like to do preventative care and spray down their crops regardless of whether they see anything or not. It just lowers the chances of their crops getting devastated by disease.

thanks man. is it ok to defoliate during flowering?

Yes but be judicious. You don't want to remove too many leaves. Leaves are reservoirs for your flowers to pull nutrition from if it's not getting it from the root structure. If it's a fan leaf and it's in the way of a bud site or flower then you can decide if you want to remove it or just move it out of the way.

One hundred percent right on! Home growers tend to allow animals in the grow area, even your animals can transfer spores. PW lives and thrives in the outdoors.
I’m manic about my grow, in that I shower and have on clean clothes before ever entering my grow room. My grow is as clean as a surgical suite. I also do not allow other growers in my room to gawk, they carry pathogens from their own environments. I never accept or take another’s clones into my grow as well.
All you have to do is get that scrounge one time and you will know the hell involved to get it stopped.
Great advice @RootsRuler !
