In other news...I've been doing some research on Insect Frass. There's a really good discussion on it here actually: https://www.thcfarmer.com/threads/insect-frass.81250/ unfortunately it seems like some of these people aren't around much anymore. Shame. On this run with my Romulan gal I'm going to follow what @Ecompost suggested and top dress with some Insect Frass during weeks 1-3 of flower.

I'm a convert to Gaia Green and there maybe a place for Earth Dust and some other products. The last 10 years of my work career I was so busy and going so hard I switched everything to Bloom City dry ferts. Dosed the plants once a week when I watered and moved on to the next disaster. Retirement came and I wanted to look into other types of ferts. That was a huge waste of time and money. It was insane to be honest,,,, down right stupid,, truth be known. When I started it was composting and mixing your own organics back in the 1970's. But I didn't want to go back to composting,,, hell I don't even mow my own yard anymore. It's at that point Gaia Green, Earth Dust and another company got on my radar. I went Gaia Green and not looking back. Here is pretty much all I need for a few grows looking forward. One tote is full of FF Ocean Forrest and 12lbs of EWC still in the bags, The other tote is full of FF 70/30 coco with basic Gaia Green and Recharge. Next purchase will more than likely be 10kg or 20kg bags of Gaia Green, but still not ruling out Earth Dust. I look forward to future grows.

It's not necessary but when I top dress at the 4 week block periods I'll pre mix the dry amendments with some of my soil mix which does contain about 25% EWC in a smaller container before it goes on the top soil. The dry amendments are pretty dusty and I find pre mixing them with some soil helps to keep it from flying all over the place.

You will like it. I can tell you right now the hardest part of growing like this is theres rarely anything to screw around with. And you will find your way with it. I don't mix as high as Shaded does or even the manufactures recommendations because I use FF Ocean Forrest soil. So I don't need to really precook the soil and GG because it will come on in two weeks. And when it comes on and you have 4 lbs of worm castings 18 gals of mix you might just see a massive nitrogen spike like I did,,,, LMAO! And as I recycle my soil it will be more stable. I'm not a fan of Rock Dust. But because I do ph my water and let it float between 6.6 and 6.2. I'm hoping I will see benefits of Rock Dust down the road as more of my soil becomes recycled. As the lower ph watering's help to break down the Rock Dust. When you look at a ph chart verses what the plants feed on the best concerning ph you might see why I do let it drift around a bit. Enjoy!

I will be in Fox farms Happy frog so slightly less nutrition in the soil there vs your ocean forest.
Usually I take feeding very slow and low but I think I will jump in and follow shadeds mix to the max. Something about pushing my plants to their potential like he said entices me lol

Up until now I've been using distilled water but I will be switching to tap for next grow. I tested the pH earlier and it is about 7.6, not sure if I should run with that or adjust it down. My current grow I've been adjusting between 6.1 and 6.7 but I've heard lots about not needing to adjust pH in organic

Hello and welcome to my "Growing with Gaia Green" guide! Figured I would just make a post that can be referenced instead of constantly writing this out in DM's or threads. Gaia Green products are 100% organic dry amendments for cannabis use. They are a Canadian based company but they also sell their product in the USA as well. They have a lot of products to offer and you may find a specific use for some of them due to your variables but I am just going to focus on what I personally use in my stack.

Sprout phase, ~1 week: NO nutrients are being added to the growing medium. Earth worm castings & cotyledons provide more than enough nutrition for the first 2 weeks of a seeds life
-transplant to 1gallon-
Early veg phase, 4 weeks: amend 3tbsp of 100% All Purpose 4-4-4 per gallon of medium eg. 3tbsp of 4-4-4 for a 1gallon container
Late veg phase if needed, 4 weeks: top dress 3tbsp of 100% All Purpose 4-4-4 per gallon of medium eg. 3tbsp of 4-4-4 for a 1 gallon container
-transplant to 5gallon-
Early flower phase, 1 week before flipping lights: amend 3tbsp of 50% All Purpose 4-4-4 and 50% Power Bloom 2-8-4 per gallon of medium eg. 8tbsp of 4-4-4 and 8tbsp of 2-8-4 for a 5gallon container
Mid flower phase, week 3 or 4 of flower: top dress 3tbsp of 25% All Purpose 4-4-4 and 75% Power Bloom 2-8-4 per gallon of medium eg. 4tbsp of 4-4-4 and 12tbsp of 2-8-4 for a 5gallon container
Late flower phase, sativa plants: if you have a sativa plant chances are they may need an additional weeks of growing time so you could do a light top dress 2tbsp of 100% Power Bloom 2-8-4 per gallon of medium eg. 10tbsp of 100% Power Bloom 2-8-4 for a 5gallon container

This is the basic feed schedule and this is a FULL STRENGTH feeding regiment meaning you are pushing your plant pretty hard. Certain strains and different growing environments may mean that you might only need to use 2/3 of what I have here for amounts. I recommend starting off with 2/3 of what is listed and increasing to full amounts if you're certain that your plants can handle it.

Additional supplements that I use are:

Mycorrhizae
I generously dust the root ball EVERY time I transplant and I also add a couple scoops into my soil mix any time I amend some soil to be going into a new container. Do not underestimate your rhizosphere

Epsom Salts - Magnesium Sulfate
LEDs increase the demand for Mg and this helps cover that demand. Overall plant health and nutrient uptake seems to improve when adding 1tbsp of Epsom Salt every 2 weeks

Gypsum - Calcium Sulfate
Decreases soil salinity and improves soil structure while also providing Calcium and Sulfate. 1tbsp of Gypsum every 2 weeks

Rock Dust Blend - micronutrients and humic acid
Used primarily to supplement micronutrients that may be lacking. Overall plant health and lushness improved since I started adding 2tbsp every 2 weeks


Pretty much once you get started you are either amending or top dressing in 4 week blocks, adding supplemental nutrients every 2 weeks, and then you just water your plants. Good luck and happy growing!

Ordered the 10kg/22lb sacks yesterday. Still have plenty of Basalt Rock Dust(won't be reordering any rock dust), Recharge, DE, Epsom Salt. Only have 4 lbs of EWC so I need to find more EWC. Still have plenty of fresh Ocean Forrest in a 27 gal tub and 70/30 Coco in a 27 gal tub. I will be recycling grow media so wont need any of that for a long while.

Hell yeah! She looks like she's enjoying life so far. What are you going to substitute for the Rock Dust? Azomite? Nothing? I was at the Hydro store yesterday and was this || close to picking up some Azomite and some Liquid Seaweed Extract.

I'm not going to replace the rock dust with anything. At best it's a very long term soil builder and questionable at that and nothing I'm willing to pay for. They want to send me bags of it I will use it. But won't spend one cent on it from here on out. I went out the other day and split 3.5lbs or so of Basalt Rock Dust between my bulk Coco and Ocean Forrest and called it good.

I just checked the hydro shop and I can get a 44lb bag of Azomite for around $60. I don't see myself going through 44lbs of micronutrients in a lifetime!
