hell yeah! I'm trying to get a family trip scheduled out to a buddy's beach house outside of Long Beach. I know this is the season for em to be ripe for the picking, and with my newly acquired agar skills, could easily get some cultures going for the outdoor bed I want to get started next spring.

so, that batch of plates I posted last week-ish, nothing germinated. had one contam with bacteria, which I fully attribute to the print being shot. pretty sure the syringes I have in the fridge are done for overall. not contamed, but the spores just aren't viable.

that being said, i knocked up some new plates with APE, pan cambo, and psilocybe cyanescens. damn determined to get some wood lovers going, and some ghosty dicks. we'll see if these go, if not, then i'm gonna assume the plates i poured are too stiff for spore germination. gotta get in an order for more petri dishes. this time will be ordering a case of 500 instead of 25. cost/plate is way cheaper at bulk volume and based on many a commenter at shroomery once you go agar you don't go any other route for germination/persistence of cultures.

Finally got some germination. APE on MEA. Think my agar is too hard for most spores to germinate. of nine plates, only this one is showing signs of life between three different species of multispore inoculation. this is also a pic from the bottom side of the plate, the top is covered in condensation, but what I was able to see visually, it's nice, fluffy and white, so it's what is intended to be grown!
