I prefer hard pots just because they're easier to move around they last longer than fabric pots, but I'm old school like that. Also a big fan of up-potting, yes. I think the only time you shouldn't up-pot is if you're growing an auto, otherwise it's one of my key factors for huge plants.I might do some repotting when i get home this evening. Debating going straight into their final 5gal fabric home, or into 1gal plastic as a middle step.
I have 3 Seedlings in the works. Was half expecting some not to pop, but all grew.. lol so i may be tight on space. I also have some 3 gal airpots floating around at home. Total tent is a 2x2x6.
What are everyone's thoughts on plastic vs fabric vs airpots? And do you usually plant direct into the final pot or step them up?
I run plastic pots. I’ve been using them for 20 years. So I just stuck with what I know. I usually go from solo cup to final home, imo it just really comes down to not being heavy handed while they are small so a bunch of water doesn’t sit in the bottom of the pot not getting eaten. Right around week 3 I put them in their final home and start nutrients after the first dry back after repotting.I might do some repotting when i get home this evening. It’s been crazy hot this year. Everywhere. Brutal.Yeah we've been and will be over 95 degrees every day now for a week, and supposed to stay this way for at least another week, with very little rain in the forecast. We might get an afternoon shower here and there but not enough.
It's been pretty hot but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as people are trying to make it out to be. I remember much, much hotter summers in the late 80's and early 90's, but yeah it has been a while since we've seen heat like this. It’s been crazy hot this year. Everywhere. Brutal.
Changed to this 2 years ago, never looked back. It’s like clouds for your root zone. It’s crazy fluffy, holds water at the proper weight, more than enough goods to keep plants healthy with no amendments all the way through flower. I absolutely love this stuff. That makes perfect sense. I'm growing some photoperiod Durban Poison. Might go to the 1gal plastic in that case.
What kinda soil are you guys using?
