I believe the The old SKUNK is now OG CUSH strain...I wish we could find Ti Stick seeds...
World of Seeds sells Thai landrace. It's pretty damned close. Count on a LONG flowering time though. I ran it with Sex Wax from Holy Smoke a few years back and it was a competition between the two who was gonna finish last. lol

Yep! You don't just up and start giving your shit away to a bunch of strangers on the internet. lol
That makes no sense to me.
Especially with the focus on the esters and thiols that they barely know anything about as far as affects.
There's nothing I have bought since about 2014 that even comes close to the stench of the old skunk.
WTF has happened to all the killer weed?
Now it's all "sweet dirt" x "burnt cardboard",
with an over abundance of herms and some HLVD for free.

Nobody asked you to give it away. You’re talking like you’re gonna be buried clutching it and thats kind of sad

I personally like to see joy on peoples faces when they smoke something ive grown, I’ve probably given away atleast 50% of what ive grown.

Its obviously your decision. Not that i believe you anyways. Even if it is true its kind of shitty that you wouldnt let the line flourish simply because of your greed. Someone shared it with you, whether it was a gift or purchased

Lol
If you're on here only looking for free seed,
there's plenty of growers wanting seed testers, but you gotta grow them out and report back.
I kinda understand the frustration about wanting something you can't have. I just don't care.
And, I know there are Skunks out there, but people are lazy, and don't want to take the time and space to hunt for them. (like the rest of us had to do)
So most likely, I'll die clutching onto my seeds. lol
Or,
I will give them all to a random member of a grow forum to do with what he will.
Unless someone buys them first.
Believe me, there's a lot of "likeminded individuals", not turning loose of their heirloom seeds, just so someone else can take the genetics and make $$$ off of them, (like 9 out of 10 breeding collabs in todays weed world).
I'm actually doing everyone a favor, I'm preserving, and thus protecting some of the "old base genetics"
from the "clusterfuck" of the bad seed making practices, going on today.
Like it or not, they're mine to do with what I please.
And no one "gave" me my genetics. I bought and bred ever seed and needed no help from anyone. lol
So, I believe I'll wait a little longer before I open my stash to some seed vulture to pick through. lol
Come on man!
You're not looking on the bright side,
At least there's plenty of Skunk packs for sale from seed companies today.
If you choose the right seed pack, you'll find them. You might have to run 100+ seeds/packs or more to find a keeper.
That's the price unfortunately, to ride the "Skunk Train", for all of us.
Skunk is illusive., but you never know.
Hell, you might just luck into finding something close to the real deal we all remember so well.
Then give your seed out to everyone and be the hero.
You can be "that guy".
Sorry, that's not me.
I want to see more Skunk pics.
Show me some Skunk!

For some reason, I am not interested in growing skunk. Probably one of my many psychological hangups. I was gifted today an Afghani x Skunk seed. I will not grow it..because i do not feel the fire to make it go. Tomorrow, I will try to gift it to a very nice lady at work...and no, i do not have any romantic interest in her...but she has the green gene in her thumb. The packaging is cool, reminds me of a childhood trinket game that I remember. I think it is not something that matches what she would want to grow, but she might like the packaging. I think she will gift it to another. Gift to gift to gift..she will gain, i will gain. Someday...someone will figure out how to drop the ball thru the hole. I think that person will be the person that is a skunk lover. How many fingerprints will it take to find that grower...I don't care...I have a good feeling about my fingerprints being part of the chain.

I chalk that up to just being a cool person man! Dig!

That's only if your seed is still viable.....

Which was the point I was originally making.

When you die, the genetics in your seed are gone forever.

Then you sit here wondering where all the "old school skunks went".....

Most are still viable.
Eventually I will start letting go of some.
I'm waiting to see what's out there from other growers before I do.
Everyone is just sitting on them for now.
It's complicated.

Exactly!

It's very complicated, because, the way I feel about something today, I may not feel that way or am convinced otherwise in a day from now...

Sometimes you feel the hippy love....

Sometimes the hippy love, feels YOU... hehehe

What I am gathering from others is most have bred it to the newer(cookie) stuff and it seems that is the issue. The offspring loses that special ingredient that produces the esters. The plants only have it in a very small amount to start with.
Duke Diamond has talked about this if I remember correctly.
The one that has the 1000+ seed in this thread is the one most likely to find it in it's most pure form.

The original terps have been genetically diffused over time... Even if bred to itself....

If the breeder continued to breed since the original F1 hybrid strain from the mid 90's(which I have read from someone that knows the source of the source from a sourced source of a guy... he knew....), claims that the original was lost due to genetic drift over subsequent breedings.

They tried to bring it back to the original genetics, but are now having a hard time finding pure Afghani......

Soooooooooo what's happening is..... We have plants that look like Afghani, but they're actually sativa mexican highbrids crossed with "insert indica here"....

They are coming out to look VERY much like an Afghani but they're not truly such and are only dropping 15% THC ranges.

So, how to avoid getting a Mexican hybrid passing as an Afghani?

Go to a Dutch seed bank in Europe, go to various different seed banks available on the internet.

You just need one lucky breeding to get the F1 super stinky terpene genetic to pop out.. But it might take 10 times. Might even take 100 times.

Skunk = Afghani x Colombian Gold or Acapulco Gold.

Sensi Seeds sells all of them.....

You literally can have your "old school skunk" in about a year.

https://sensiseeds.com/en/cannabis-seeds#seedtype=regular <----- Has a whole line of skunks including Sunk #1.
Am working on that very thing. I have started with acquiring bodhi's Acapulco gold. And now have khalifa's balkhi afgani. Running her now outside. Have yet to aquire a true columbian gold. But this is my path to another modern skunk. Will do it in the order most podcasts say it happened.( Affy x columbian) x aca

See, back in the day, when indoor growers were first starting out, we wanted plants that were short, able to fit in a closet under an HPS/MH, we also didn't want plants that took 16 weeks to flower.

So we bred them with "any old indica"...... and that's where we get all the big genetic variances that we saw in the 90's with Sour Diesel and the like...

Then someone dropped the Ruderalis on the scene and that IMO has fucked everything up.

Also a lot of genetic differences and variances came from people like me who at the time took Ed Rosenthals advice "if you like the weed in the bag, chances are you'll like the plant that the seeds in that bag will produce".....

It was only natural for us to breed them....

Some people(NOT ME! I'm a straight guy, they are either male or female or I destroy them, I don't mess with hermies what so ever.) even used hermies or they were growing for the money aspect and wanted the seed for the extra weight... So didn't care if they were hermies loaded with seeds.

Definitely got my share of that seedy shiiiiistuff back in the day. lol. I never kept those beans because I already knew WHY it was seedy.

I found a pretty dam skunky specimen this current run. After trying dozens of strains over the years and hundreds of seeds the one single winner thus far is a 1990s Catpiss. This one pheno is way superior to all the other ones I have ran from the same seed batch. This little girl is still in veg and the stem rubs reek like skunk thiol. I think it’s got the ester genes. I’m excited about this one I think it’s gonna blow the carbon filters away once in flower 👌🦨
