That thing is tall n skinny. It look good! Should get great result.I bought the larger connector of the 2 as I already had the smaller size connector.
I did it this way as I wanted to keep the unit intact for warranty purposes. That’s why I made a Y-cable and heat shrink the connections.
Found some openings but don’t like the tight spaces. Will redo when I get a better game plan. Got some time for now.
I've only done one DWC. It was a fail but I learned a lot and will attempt again in the future. Mine developed root issues and associated nutrient deficiencies. Tried a number of remedies to no avail. I would suggest inspection of root mass. Roots should be white (nutrient staining aside). No slime or brown. This would indicate root rot or early stages of it. This wound up being my problem. I've seen others recover from worse cases than mine but I was unsuccessful. Keep at it. Win or lose its a learning opportunity. Also I'd suggest creating a new post to address your issue rather than piggybacking an existing topic. I had to get an account to jump in here and talk about these wine cooler cannitrol DIY projects. I'm about to get a thermoelectric/peltier style wine fridge from ebay. From what I hear, the TE style coolers need to be dehumidified, while the compressor style coolers need to be humidified. Am I correct here? So the one guy that took apart the dehumidifier, and put the guts in the bottom and control it with the inkbird, where does the water drip go? Does it collect in the bottom of the fridge somewere? Could you also just use a bunch of silica/descant or Bovida packs to regulate the humidity? From what I'm gathering the cannatrols have a dehumidifier and a drip pan in the back, and/or a sponge with dish, depending on your environment.
I ended up getting the Thermoelectric Peltier cooled wine fridge (not a compressor). And Running it for a few hours I can maintain 60 degrees, but the humidity is at 78% I put a few bovida 62% packs in there and its dropping slowly, its at 75% after about 1hr. I'm gonna let it run over night with the bovida packs and see if it gets down any more. I guess i could buy more bovida packs, or get a dehumidifier. I was looking at dehumidifier "rods" that are used for gun safes. Not sure how these work, but they get warm and kill the moisture in the air, i'm just not sure where the moisture would go. The TE fridge has a moisture drip pan in the back, so I'm wondering if I get one of those rod dehumidifier things and put it on an inkbird if it would do the trick?I don’t have much experience trying to use a compressor fridge. From what I’ve read it’s a whole different technique. I believe they call it a lotus cure. The compressor fridge will strip moisture really fast so people put their bud in paper bags to create a barrier. I’ve never seen anyone put a humidifier in a fridge. It may work well but I’m skeptical of it, I would be concerned that the humidifier would get the bud wet being in such a small environment.
For the wine cooler tech; these fridges come with a small drain port preinstalled in the back. The water will drip down and collect in a small reservoir. This reservoir will fill up a few times during the whole ordeal. Usually like 8oz total so nothing crazy.
you could theoretically use humidity control packets. My issue with this is the packets would be single use. You would probably need to use one of those really large bovita packs. It’s an interesting idea.
The legit cannatrol is a modified wine fridge with an added heating element. The heating element is used the same way that we use the dehumidifer. The biggest difference is the Cannatrol controller is preprogrammed. The diy version requires you to drop the humidity manually through the inkbird.
I think the heat rod would achieve the same results as the Dehum. All those rods do is increase the temperature which in return would decrease the RH. Does the humidity collect on the rod and then it drips onto the bottom of the fridge and then out the back? I just realized how some of the guys are making their thermo electric peltier cooled peltier dehumidified curing fridges. They use a dehumidifier, the type that has a little water basin, but they remove the water basin and just let the heatsink drip water into the bottom of the fridge, which eventually drips out the back into a tiny tray. Was wondering if the "rod" style dehumidifiers also collect the moisture and drip off of them into the floor of the fridge? The only thing the rod doesn't have is the water pan, or the fan, but maybe you don't need that stuff?
