Hi folks,
i run a mars FC4800 light
25% at seedling
50% at grow
75% at flower
12” from plant.

I wish i’d get a bit more stretch. Below pictures of last 2 grows.

Apart from it not being what you want more stretch does not equal more bud your light was too close you want your light roughly 18-36” away

What are you trying to say you don’t want them as small then try not topping next time or let them veg longer

Btw the top pic all them dead leaf’s you should pick them up it’s not a good idea to leave them like you did 🙂

Are they autoflowers? You may be flipping 12/12 a bit too soon.

Just curious as to why? Not complaining for sure. I would say raise your light and give them an extra week of veg. I just had a friend go straight from seed right into 12/12. Low yield but looked awesome. Years ago we used to argue that you needed so much veg time before the flip for you plants to reach their full genetic potential. Pretty sure that isn't quite true. Sativas tend to stretch more.

So for the amount of plants your doing in that tent your on par for size.... I have a 5x5 tent and only have 4 plants in 7 gallon pots... I'll veg for about 2.5 months mainlining.... on average my 4 plants yields 1.5 to 2 lbs

The first grow is autos and the last is photos.
i dont want to veg more than a month.
thanks.
well you don’t want to veg longer than a month.. that’s your problem,
during the stretch phase what spectrum of light were you using?
blue or red?
what’s your ambient temps?
and by the looks of it there’s still a lot of basic learning needed here..

trying to get a idea what you wanted earlier as I think you misunderstand what stretching ; you want to fill out the tent but don’t want to spend more than 4 weeks vegging
Your top pic the tent is pretty full but it was your first grow so you had a learning curve and didn’t get as much back as you wanted would that be about right
You won’t starve a plant of light by having the light a min of 18” away it’s helping the plant by moving your light up

Them leds kick out a lotta light.

If you really want a plant to stretch so you can see for yourself raise the light as far away as you can the plants will grow lanky putting its energy into reaching the light tbh you might not be able to move it away high enough try dimming it as well then you’ll see for yourself.

Hi, the first thing I see is your pots are far too big for the plant size. Those don't need more than 3 gallon pots. 1 month of veg before you flip? There is not enough built up mass in the plant at 1 month to produce what you want. I'll only go to a 5 gal pot after 2 months of vegging, Those small plants could have finished in 2 gal pots.

Stop the fking Cal/mag, its not needed in your soil until 3 weeks of flower unless you're watering with RO or distilled there is likely enough in your house water to provide you with the Cal / mag you need in veg.

Do you want your plants to stretch more? Add a red light to both veg and flower it will aid in stretching them out. Add blue if you if you want short and stocky plants.

so a blue light in addition to cropping and SOG will produce a wide short plant in general? Will that aid in adding smaller colas as well? Very new here and trying to learn as much as possible!

I'm not sure about the blue giving smaller cola's, all I know for sure is what I've done and read about. In veg I had to turn off my reds led's because my plants outstretch my space too quickly. It also makes them stretch more in early flower, again growing me out of space so off they went as well in flower.

Blue is said to keep them short, I've not done that myself but read about it.

I'm using Far Red lights in flower to put them to sleep faster which allows me to keep my lights on for 12.5 hrs per day in flower rather than just 12. Getting my plants to finish 1 - 2 weeks earlier. I've only done that once as well with 1 far red in my 3x3 but I just ordered 2 more to put in my 5x5 for this next run. They go on 5 min before lights out to 15 min after lights out so the canopy is covered in a deep red glow for 15 min.

that might be a bit deep for these growers.. i know about far red etc..
but your plants are finishing 2 weeks early??
you sure about that?
just asking if you can prove it?.

Dont u also run it 15m before light cycle? I ve heard these supportive lights like this one are supposed to work this way.

All I can go by is the Mother plant of my last harvest without using far red she went 11 weeks and the clone from her took 9 weeks under he far red and at 9 she was well done. I'm going to use them again on this next grow but I don't have any experience with these next strains so It'll be an observation of when they are done. Most if not all are going at least 10 weeks some 11 plus if I can cut that back by a week well what the heck. Its all a game if nothing else the reds are pretty over my canopy after lights out.

They ll stretch, stem will be thinner and buds smaller eventually. I think :)
Give them a chiropractic treatment it strengthens the stalk. Youtube Kyle kushman Chiropractics....I like the pop, its a therapeutic sound. lol

Not the far Reds as I know from them they are only on at dusk to put plants to sleep. you don't need the mounting brackets
