I go by something I found online that's pretty accurate. 20% of pot volume. So if dry that'd be 3 gals for a 15 gal pot.
Its also determined on how much aeration you use etc. My 7 gal pots took 1.5 gals of water till the bottoms got wet

Ya I do same for 7 gal... I was thinking 3 to 4 gals... makes sense...doubling 7gal would be 3 gallons....

Math seems right I hit my 5 gals with 1 gallon of water each, if watered slow it’ll soak it all up and give about 1/4 cup of runoff within about 1/2 hour of watering, so yeah about 1/5th of pot volume (I like to see that bit just to know I hit got all the way to the bottom

And morning folks! Fresh unstack of the broccoli and spicy micro mix microgreens, here what the look like after being seeded, moistened, then stacked on top of eachother, then I use 2x full cans of paint that sit on top of the stack for 3x days, when the seedlings start to separate the treys and you see them popping out the sides (yes they’ll easily lift the 16ish pounds of weight) then remove and spread under lights

They’ll start to green up pretty quick under the lights, up to this point they’ve been stacked on top of eachother with the weights and on a blackout shelf with no light whatsoever

I’ll see your broccoli and raise you an arugula :))

I’m glad I saw this post. Reminded me that I had some trays to take out of blackout before I left the house for the day!

Last time I used 3 gals... I found bottom of pot had no roots... great yields for the plant but feel like I shorted myself not getting the full root zone potential....caused by not enough volume of water and dry bottoms

I've been using 5 gallons with longer days for dry backs... especially when 1st transplanted... been thinking of finally using less volume of water... for more feeding days

Is there any way to keep the top of the soil from drying out so fast? Thinking I need to slow down with the perlite so all the water doesn’t drain down to the bottom and sit. My biggest problem is I overthink.

I'm surprised the VA doesn't just hand you a sack as you walk in.
They ought to.

😆 good morning folks. Hope all is well with everyone and a good day is had by all. That's it. I'm not growing ATM so nothing to show
😔 😟 🐉 😆 🤣
I read some saying that you should not tell ppl what you're doing in private. Like build that shit then go boom! I'm really bad about keeping secrets tho so I'm just like telling the world everything. 🌎 planet earth. Oh yea. Marijuana! 😆 ok that's it. Have a good one guys and gals if there are any on here anymore. I always feel like it's a sausage fest up in this joint. Roflmfao!!!!!! Dead!

Ok fine… people wanna see a root ball it’s dried but let’s see what the GP x okie roots look like…

Ok so the screen is the bottom, when looking at these pictures the roots are actually growing up from the bottom of the bucket back twords the top dressing

Regular 5 gallon bucket, this is normally how I have them sitting in the drip treys I keep these racks under the pot so they need sit in the minimal runoff but I know I hit the bottom

Few folks top their pots with a mulch for that very reason, so that the feeder roots can climb to the top a little higher. (organics)

Yep I run only promix BX, perlite, gaia green 2-8-4 / 4-4-4, azomite, epsom, gypsum, EWC, and mycos I let the tops dry as they like, I only top dress once in mid flower but they seem to love it, mid flower 2 day dryback, late flower 1-1.5 day dryback 1 gallon of water per 5 gallon bucket per watering

I got lost in the temu rabbit hole. I love/hate temu. Surprisingly their clothes are durable you just gotta get like 2 sizes larger than you would normally get cuz it's in China sizes and they run small af. 😆 🐉

Here’s the jack skellington I made for my wife office door…..
