First time grow in zone 9b, lets learn from my mistakes

I’m not just an amateur weed grower, I’m an amateur everything grower.

Planted some dahlias and sunflowers the other week that haven’t popped yet (please someone give me patience)

cucumbers are cranking along, I’m late to the game but I have like 20 serpent cucumbers coming along

Three watermelon plants I brought out from the windowsill that didn’t grow for a week have doubled in size

Too many corn.

Romanesco is bolting cuz it’s so hot, wonder if it will survive thru summer.

It’s all learning tho! I’m stubborn, if you tell
me something isn’t gonna work I still gotta try it. Mistakes are necessary.

Well this is all about learning the ropes of growing outdoors. Them old geezers ( me included) did'nt never say it would be easy, cause it wasn't. Imagine hiking in a mile carrying water buckets. Losing 3/4 of your crop to animals or hikers. It's just a matter of learning your areas enviornment, temps and prepping for the worst. Horse poop is OK if it's well rotted, cured like yr. old. It's taken me years of gathering info. to be able to be self relient on growing weed both indoors an outdoors. You can do it, stay the course treat them as if you were the plant and what would make you happy LOL

I’m definitely learning, or at least pretending to lmao It’s been pretty exciting, I just wanna spend the winter prepping for next year and grow EVERYTHING.

I brought home a jack fruit cuz I wanna plant it. Wife found out it was like 30 bucks. NO REGRETS

Alright about halfway thru our heatstroke, already almost 80 and it’s not even 8am. Girls are loving it though! Water every morning and kept in partial shade, they haven’t even wilted when it got up to 105. Make me proud

They probably appreciate the shade cloth. Mine def appreciate the 4-6 tree shade. I only have one that starts to whine a bit when it nears 100 so far anyway.

their sensor is picking up re-radiated heat from surrounding materials in direct sunlight. Kinda like how until you get moving some car thermometers will read well above what the actual temp is.

Those will only read correctly in the shade usually.

Yeah they’re hanging on metal frames so it’s probably not accurate, but helps me get pity

I think the shade cloth is helping, I haven’t tracked it too too closely though

Bubble hash. I’ve always wanted to make it. Seems easy ish. I just watched a whole hour something frenchy video. My question is how hard is it to do without a machine?

Also. Flowering. When do we count the weeks, as soon as pistils show? And when do we decide to harvest? I watched a leafly video series with some tips but I’m curious what you guys go by.

oh third part! what are the benefits of bubble hash versus dry sifting. I’m trying to get all the use out of plant material I can, without too much investment. If I can do bubble has without a machine it wins, if I gotta buy a little washer then the micron screens are probably more cost effective
