Hot soil to me refers to any soil that has additives, regarless of concentration but I agree that OF is a lot hotter than HF, neither are ideal for starting a seed though. OF can get me through veg without very much extra feeding until the last few weeks.

Also yes to the cotyledons, was just explaining that from seed it already has the nutes it needs to start off and go a couple of weeks without any feeding

it it’s just dried out, I’d get it damp, add a little blood meal or worm castings and some mycos, that should jump start it. All the soil organisms/bacteria/fungi are still there, they’re just dormant. Water will reactivate them.

Growing container for seedling too large, you want it to grow into its container spreading its roots and then repot up until your final flowering container. I start with a solo cup, move up to a half gal, then a 1 gal, then a 3 gal, then a 5 gal.

Ferts aren’t needed as others have mentioned for at least the first few weeks, seeds have all the nutes they need for the first few weeks of life already stored in them. Also Happy Frog is what’s known as a hot soil which has nutes packed in already and will lead to nutrient toxicity in your seedling.

I HATE fabric pots. I know this is preference, but mine don’t get the same drainage or dry out as when I use a plastic pot/bucket with drilled out holes.

Best practice for now, would be to transplant very gently taking extreme care of the taproot into a regular soil without additives and let it ride for a few weeks, then pot up into happy frog.

Also, for seedlings you will want a relatively wet RH (I like around 75%)

Also since you are new to this, I would recommend looking up how to water your plants. It sounds like a simple task, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. You have likely heard of over and under watering, and thought oh I won’t drown my soil it’s okay. This actually refers to the frequency (how often) you water. The best practice is to water until you see runoff (water running out of holes in bottom of container) and then to allow your soil to dry out before watering again.

You can gauge this in different ways.
Some will stick their finger an inch down in the soil to see if it’s moist or not, dry for an inch you’re usually good.
Others will get to know how heavy their plant and container is, and then use that to know if it’s heavy it doesn’t need watered yet. Personally, I just wait for the plant to tell me with her leaves. You will notice they droop slightly when the plant gets thirsty. All methods work and none really work better than the others.

Realistically, being new you will make mistakes and you will have to fight problems, but learning how to do that and pushing through is what will make you a great grower and you will have more pride in your work.

Just agreeing on pots. I am growing outdoors. I prefer a big (well I use pot that's 15 gal. ) plastic pot over fabric bags. I set my pot up on a pallet so it drains freely, and if there was a space on the bottom of the pot, I drilled another hole. Lol. Outdoors, I find the black pots can get hot, I drape shade cloth around the edge of pot on those days.
