I am not sure if I can recommend mars hydro due to poor customer service, but I do do like the lights. I had a TS1000 stop working and it was a bit more effort just to contact them never mind resolve the issue. Ultimately I just took the loss and bought another light. All in all I run an ES1500 in my 2x2, an FCE3000 and SP 150 in the 3x3 and a TS1000 in the 1x3 . I also have a spare TS 600 and TS1000.
As far as Pineapple Express goes it’s a bag seed from 2019 from a couple of ounces that my brother and I picked through. It was one of my first successful grows and I’ve grown it out three times to harvest and I’m currently on number four and five, all have had wildly varying phenotypes. This current one in flower is very odd and I’m not sure if it’s going to produce any thing decent at all, she’s a few weeks behind her roommates in the 3x3 and barely has thrown any pistols.
I'll take some of those beans if you have them to give, one of my favorite. My Mars have been going strong since I got them three years ago, no problems. When I grew out the Pineapple I didn't harvest until they stopped drinking, some dank bud with loud terpenes.

Anyone interested in stocking up on some old school strains should check out the sale they’re having right now at NASC, I do a lot of business with these folks and I have never been disappointed with anything that I got from them. They are a somewhat local business out of Waterville Maine and always throw a freebie or two your way with each purchase.
I question old school strains with "Auto" in the description.

Ol boy @Deadstill has had some good luck with netting, as have I here. T plant will look sad at first being in a shroud but it will still do fine. Had to use some for out eggplants in veg, tomatos and peppers. Maybe gig it a shot? I tie it off at the main stalk down low
Yup the net bags I got were a little big for the plants at first, so I encapsulated the entire pot and all until the plants were bigger, then I move the bags up and tie them nice and tight around the stalk, ensuring no plant destroying grasshoppers can get in.

Now I will say the high winds we have out here combined with the mesh netting bags will do a little damage to leaves here and there, but that is trivial compared to what the damn bugs will do without a net. Also no need to really worry about the netting "holding the plant back" it will continue to grow just as well if not better with a mesh net. The branches and leaves might get a little bunched up here and there, but I just jiggle the net bags around a little, once each day when I go out to check on them, just to loosen it up a little.

I'd suggest buying multiple size bags, or at least some large ones. You can always use a bigger net bag than needed, but too small is just too small.

Overall for the price of mesh net bags, if growing outside in harsh environments like I am, you can't go wrong with these. Pretty much required equipment here. Growing on the high plains of Colorado is about as challenging as growing a plant on the moon 🤣 *if the moon had giant fuckin grasshoppers and hurricane force winds, all the time 🤣

Man you are way too smart to be a groundskeeper, but you probably enjoy the work more than you would working in a laboratory or office setting right? I’m complimenting you by the way, not trying to insult you. College educated or autodidact?
Mostly just self accumulated information. I did have some college education though. And im not planning on staying a groundskeeper at the club. This one has a board of directors that handles stuff for the owner. Most are making into 6 figure salaries, and honestly, are less busy then any of us. Several of them are getting toward retirement. They've already dropped me onto salary nearly 6 months before it was planned, at higher pay then originally planned. I took this job as a way to heave steady income, but things seem to be going my way there. And if i make it to the board ill be sitting pretty with a pretty good amount of free time too.

Really im eyeing one of those board positions where all im doing is making decisions, voting, and choosing new hires at the management levels and stuff.

I was working at NOAA/Natl Weather service in KC before i moved back here. Did other things in KC too obviously though lol.

There’s also multiple posts over the years about mars starting fires.
Yeah it’s the push connectors on the lights, I believe most of it is caused by people putting pressure or stress on the connectors and them partially disconnecting or never benign correctly put together and checked and shorting out , I check my connectors almost daily or semi daily make sure all are cold and secure never had an issue, i preform continuous maintenace on all wiring every minute I have a chance, we run a lot of extension cords and surge protectors and timers, it’s our responsibility to inspect this stuff not just once when we put it up but through the whole time we use them especially over time when you adjust lights etc check that’s shit again!

But I bought that light for the exact reason the wires were external and had this type of push connector so I could cut the side rails in half when I got it to make it into that 2x8 shape to cover the 4x8

I think ultimately the general consensus on this site would be a spider farmer light. I wish they would get their heads out of their asses at mars hydro because I really like the lights they make.
I do have the SF600 and would love to test out some of @SpiderFarmerLED larger equipment, all quality looks excellent and the grows I’ve seen on here from guys, especially @Captspaulding , and the SF600 they sent me is kicking ass over my small clone shelf, plants love the light spectrum and are kickin ass, I love my SF heat mats and use them every time I germinate,

I also have my @PhlizonGrowLight FD6500 that I purchased and love as well as the PL4500 from the giveaway 6-7 months back, awesome coverage in a 4x4 and at 60% I was only pulling on average 300w over the whole grow and had solid buds wall to wall (in my journal) , I’ve had great experience talking to both reps 👊👊

And I'm NOT paying more than a few bucks each for fems. I'll happily pay $10 each for regs and make a ton of seeds but fems? Great for trying different strains but I've been smoking since the 70's, I've tried most of them😉
I like to make my own fems it’s nice knowing roughly what I got when I pop a seed and cuts out a lot of the male percentage (but increases the herm percentage) , I like to run fems and clone then backcross or clone the ones I like the most, or cross them together which is what I’m doing now with 2 crosses I like

Making fems is great, paying for fems is a waste of my time😉

I can't get a male to save my life. My Mexi red x Afghani seed showed female the other day. That little white dot on the tear drop is now pistils.

I started another Haymeadow Purps in case my Maui 86 and Haymeadow purp seedling are both female too, which I'm kind of expecting at this point. 🙄 when you don't want males they're everywhere, when you want em... Crickets

I'll be making a batch of fem seeds with peaceblaster #1 and Cali blues almost guaranteed

Little garden tour, smokin some cali dream after the remnants of beryl came barreling through we got a fuck ton of rain, about 10 of my in ground pepper plants are so over watered I’m not sure if they’ll recover. They look a little better than yesterday surprisingly but they are straight down drooped lol, hopefully they recover as it dries back, I get a river right through this section of the garden and it was like a whitewater river, poor things got water boarded 🤣 yeah I’ll be happy when I do all the peppers in 10 gallon pots next year lol

It’s just this spot in the garden, always super wet, might switch it up and put either zucchini or melons in these exact spots next year to benefit storm the consistent super high soil moisture
beautiful tomatoes. what different kinds do you grow?

I'll have to look at mine next time I use them, seems like a straightforward connection, large black cord right?.. Now I have to get up and check right now,,lol

If one wanted to breed, or attempt to breed, what would be your best advise? I can imagine you would need a gang of patience and lots of growing room.

I’m pretty low on stock, and due to an unexpected double order of factor frozen dinners last summer all of my seeds, trim and butter were evicted from the freezer and relocated into a hot closet. I have had some serious issues with germination since then. I don’t think they’re even viable anymore, look at this misfit Pineapple Express, #5 for me it’s a stunted lil window licker 🤣🤣🤣

it stopped growing at the second node and then two weeks later developed growth from the cotyledon leaves, then a few months later started growing again from that area. It has been in a solo cup since April under a desk lamp and is only watered once a week. I might transplant it into another pot and put it back into the grow tent when I’ve got more space, but until then it’s just going to stay right where it’s at.

I got a couple slow mutant weirdos myself lol. I'm letting em grow just to see what they'll do.

It's hot 🥵 got morning watering done right as the sun came over the tree line lol.

Yeah but you have a lot more space than the average home grower, some of us are restricted to a 2x2 or a 3x3 and it’s a lot of time and energy going into growing plants that you can’t smoke. I’ve personally wasted months growing a plant from regular seeds that turn out to be males, one of them was my only attempt at breeding ever, and it was accidentally.
I grew a bushman kush from bagseed and it turned out to be a male, so rather than killing it, I relocated it to a different part of the house. Well it got neglected and died, but not before dropping pollen all over the place. Well one day I came home and my girlfriend had dragged it out of the closet and put it on our porch. In the process she dragged it right past my grow tent which had a flowering mother of berries in it, I had been dealing with heat issues and had a box fan blowing into the mesh screen door on the tent and that fucker got my MOB pregnant. Thus was born JAMSBERRY KUSH, JAMS was an acronym for Judy and Marty’s Special berry kush. Just like Bob Ross said a happy little accident was born 🤣🤣🤣.
I wish I had more space to grow I’d definitely experiment with more breeding projects, but until then I’ll stick with my feminized seeds and autoflowers. To each is own though, I definitely appreciate that breeders still create regular seeds. It’s important to say the least.

I can’t say where Mike is speaking of but one that wasn’t a total burned down house someone had pictures of the area/wire leading to the led diode that was burnt up.

You store butter in a hot closet?
