I have no idea about corn 😕 I planted some in a 4x4 bed in the corner of my backyard. And the corn has to be 10' tall wtf🤣🤣

Well, I;m still not comfortable with loading images, but I got one! Anyway here is one of them, they are dying on the top. I've never had this problem before. There are 10 to 15 plants like this in this crop, but have any of you seen anything like this? I haven't.

So, the continuing saga of my plants...
One of the extras (LAX) seems to have become a victim of a four legged critter. The bark is all gnawed off, all the way around and I don't know if she'll be able to survive it. 🙁 Her color is off, she looks ashen. I don't know if I should leave it or cover it with something.

Looks like mice possibly?

Very good guess. I'm not sure, but we have an old wood floor from the previous storage shed right next to the garden and have seen ground hogs and chipmunks around it. Probably has mice too. And I made the mistake of letting the chamomile grow right next to it. Gotta check the others now.

Do you think I should do anything with the stalk?

I don’t know of any way of saving them once they eat all the way around it! Now you have to figure out how to keep it from happening to other plants! Like, maybe slitting some PVC or something similar and putting it around. I’ve heard of people wadding a bunch of aluminum foil around the bottom but I don’t know for sure how well it works. Maybe something like chicken wire with real small holes! Back in the day, we use victor rat traps a couple under every plant! But I don’t know if that’s feasible for you.

If you are going to try and save her, you could try the aluminum foil Oldchucky mentioned or steel wool. Mice, chipmunks, etc hate peppermint and a few other strong odors. Maybe get you some essential oils and place around the base of these plants. Sorry this happened.

I've shaved Irish spring soap to keep the chipmunks out of my raised beds. Cat and dog odors and hair seem to bother them too.

Fn critters damn it raccoons are eating my corn and I have a trap out there but no luck catching them shot gun next move! You could try putting some duct tape around it for a last ditch effort to keep them away?

Dog poop around it? Or moth balls I’ve seen some folks have done that as well

I always forget about mothballs because I despise the order. Those would work too.

I have placed cat and dog hair around the perimeter of my raised beds and had success keeping chipmunks and squirrels out. One could try poop, may work.

Tanglefoot on cardboard around the base of the plant will catch mice and maybe rats! But it catches a lot of other things too! But it’s always better to eliminate than to deter when it comes to Mice and rats! Don’t smear anything directly on the stalks!
