@BearWater, another tip is to use a putty or drywall knife between the solo cup and baking tray to remove cup.

Depending on the strength of the magnets, you can mangle cup trying to remove from cookie sheet.
Thank you for that tip!!!

Yo @Graham.Bagg got my mags for the next set of solos! Hope you know I wasn’t being a smart ass : ) ✌️ I love simple great ideas! They get me all excited!πŸ˜† View attachment 2248955
I was thinking of getting neodymium magnets with a hole in the center so I could put it right around the trunk of the plant from seed to harvest.

This is wild. I start my seeds in solo cups in a space underneath my early veg plants. I have a wire shelf that the early veg plants sit on, and underneath it is where the seedlings go, so they don’t get blasted with full light. I put the solo cups on a metal baking sheet, and put rare earth magnets in the bottom of the cups. This allows me to pull the entire baking sheet in and out without having to worry about dumping the solo cups, as they are β€œstuck” to baking sheet. Who knew I was serving dual purposes.

Another magnet on bottom of cup at transplanting keeps magnet in the cup.
I have metal wire shelves in my greenhouse. I grow in coco and it dries out FAST. If I could find a way to keep solos and even 1 gal cloth pots upright that'd be a game changer. Holy ShitπŸ₯°

Maybe some magnets might help the seeds:

I just recently saw again a short video on grounding the garden and garden boxes running copper wire to an aluminum/zinc post. No bugs, better growth. Worth a tryπŸ˜‰

Would you mind elaborating? Are you talking about building the risers with pressure treated wood or just using some as a buffer between the pots and the raw timber rounds?
Hope @Galgrows doesn’t mind me using her photo as it’s exactly what I do I just don’t have a pic of it.

I see what you’re saying about rounds or logs. But like you said maybe an issue with pests

You can bake or boil wood to rid it of bacteria and pests.
We find cool branches and such on our property and sterilize them for our reptile enclosures.

Thank you for that picture! I’ll be able to design a system with these new ideas. I love this place..

I would try this! I wonder if one could achieve some of this magnification from placing the solo in the inside diameter of the magnet? Would have to find them the size to fit that base of a solo, do they even make that size?

They definitely make them
This one might be overkill

πŸ˜‚ now thats a magnet!!! I dont know if my shed is big enough to keep those things far enough away from each other!!!πŸ˜‚ could you imagine the domino effect with those going off?!😳 maybe I can bolt them to the floor of the shed? Would probably just rip that shit up!πŸ˜‚

If your neighbors put out big old speakers on garbage night you will have some big free magnets 🀣

This is the one I'm going to test. A small neodymium magnet

It wasn’t dated in the stars.

You lucky bastards…..

I must humbly exit the 1gallon challenge, my dog roscoe came into the bunker and ran her over.
The 1 out 4 that actually popped., just wanted to bitch about it. And exit stage left via the vaudeville hook
It sucks, but on the bright side being a spectator for this will be a lot of fun.
Y’all are all badasses in you mr chosen methods, can’t wait to see.
Until next time,

…………….yall know I alllllllmost had ya πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ€‘

1/8” thick x 1/2” round neodymium (rare earth) is what I use for solo cups. Larger ones, or multiples may be required for fabric pots.

I sure hope we have a start date of August 1?

At this point most outside growers are getting left behind and won't be able to participate. I'm still good to go but another month will put a bit of a crimp in itπŸ˜‰
I have 2 plants, original glue, both in one gallon pots. What is this one gallon pot challenge did it start ? Mine suck a bit, ALot , are there points for damaged and nemesis one galloners?😁 I could win then. Week 21 day 57 or so flower...

Roscoe musta recieved that porterhouse I sent when you weren't looking... I mean... you got a very loyal dog, sir. Definitely not the type to take a steak in return for some sabotage.
