cannafarmer420... thanks bud!

Well it's beginning to look like Chop Time...

In about 2 weeks... but who knows for sure?

As mentioned 3rd grow.. 1st in bathtub.. 2nd in tent.. and now outside... So far really enjoyed outside grow.. it's like not having to baby sit.. put in the ground and forget it..... well up until now anyway...
.
Their are a few things about outside grows you can't turn a blind eye to... you just have to be aware about.. one of them is the dreaded fungus / mold crap.. so about this time of the grow I'm starting to get a little apprehensive and wanted to be pro active.

Been applying BT weekly... plenty of white moths flying around in my neck of the woods.... but this fungus thing I'm not sure I have the right artillery to fight it...did the research... ordered potassium bicarbonate. in the meanwhile have made some concoction I found on the web and hosed her down... one of them anyway.

Research as mentioned... plenty of info.... very little given with high confidence.. for instance milk.. pasteurized of not?

Here's where recommendations are appreciated!

Theyre looking healthy and big!
Pasteurized milk is safer and still kills the mold. I would use whatever works except anything oily like neem oil because thats gonna stick to the buds even if you wash them with water before or after harvest. Ive heard a lot of good things about citric acid based pesticides. Maybe someone from the US can recommend you one. I used milk once and it worked but you have to wash it well the next day, milk contains a lot of stuff that you dont want around otherwise you will get fungus again. I guess thats why not so many people use milk despite having it available at home.

As for the harvest time, I have no clue hahaha the buds look nice but I cant see the pistils much less the trichomes. I usually wait until all or almost all the pistils are orange and curled into the bud, sometimes slightly sooner when still have some whites pointing upwards, depends on what I see in the trichomes. "Full potency" is believed to be achieved when most of them are milky which is usually when you have 10% amber more or less but it always depends on the strain thats just a guideline. Also the cannabinoid changes but it doesnt lose it. In the case of CBD plants if theyre overriped a lot of the CBD will be converted into THC (but not only) so it can feel more like a 1:1 strain even if not quite the same feeling, an overriped CBD plant can have so THC but not enough to make you high, it will just get you more sleepy/relaxed. As for THC, overriped leads to more CBN which also makes it feel more like a 1:1 but not quite (still more THC than CBN so you still get high but is more couch lock)

BUT even if you like the idea you have to consider 2 things:
1. When theyre mature, if you dont harvest them theyre more likely to get pests.
2. Will affect the flavor, lack of it mostly but also changed.

Plants look amazing btw! And that 8oz bottle will make 2 gallons of spray I believe.

AZreefer,,, Eledin... Thank you buds... helpful info always appreciated!

With that being said... I believe I've Fucked up..
between my last post and today...see below

Luckily... yesterday.. I only sprayed one of two... unluckily in was the largest and prettiness of the two... with the "concocktion"... well they were "old hairs" anyways...who cares?
Need clarification one thing though... is white powder fungus the same fungus that develops in side the bud?

Just to clarify... haven't seen any white powder patches on these two girls since beginning but it is around and wanted to be proactive.. but instead I went off half cocked.

Not to far away..... and not in a distant land.. come to think of it... not to long ago....

Have to get; GrowSafe Bio-Pesticide

Next... coming up... trichomes

Starting to find critters on my girls... see thread:

Critters

We let it go this summer! Too damn hot for how much I was prepared and we had some extra stressors of fire in our parts so the mental health took over and I abandoned that project. Kept some of the stuff watered so the kids could get cherry tomatoes. Nothing else though really even took off. Im going to give it another try next year with some big changes to watering and feeding. Lots of prep planned too!

Damg Snappy I have know idea what is on your plant! It looks kinda like a fungus that would grow on the forest floor? Do you think the “residue” looking spots are apart of the white fluff?

Sorry if I missed it but are you treating or going to treat? I think you had mentioned some milk? Could be another thread though.

Is this natural?

Last topping / trim was in April... why multiple lead colas on a single stem that's on top..
I guess it's my 1st outsider... but most of what I've seen on the web has been single colas
here each lead branch appears to me like a separate plant... and their is like 10 of them....?

Other stuff I'm working on:

My clones outside are multibranched also and i never top them lots of branches not huge but lighter size budding so far. Still have a month or so to go here. There's 1 that is from seed also i've got and never topped her cause i wanted to see a 12" or bigger cola but it's not gonna happen LOL she's a small photoperiod. All of mine are under 6ft.

Its completely normal yes! As long as youre taking good care of them of course! Toping makes the secondary branches much more taller and thick. A non toped plant will have a cola then the secondary branches fairly below, a toped plant will have some branches reach or almost reach the 2 tallest ones. I love your plants man! Shame about the fungus but it happens, it just takes 1 or 2 days of not seeing it and it spreads like a wild fire.

So since the beginning of this month I've been preoccupied with fungus.. boytris / bud rot... Don't have it... haven't seen it... don't want it... wasn't really concerned about it until month ago the buds weren't getting any bigger... since I stuck them in the ground in May... when they seem to go immediately to flower... and were stuck their through June... and most of July... the girls over all were putting on mass... leaves and getting taller... but once they knew for sure it was time to kick ass and start making flower they went into overdrive..

Then so did I... with thoughts of the worst that could happen... bud rot..
then I started spraying them with BT (for catapillars) ... with soap.. wee bit.

Each time I prepare the spray I add enough soap to the water to hit a pH of 8 which is a few drops. it seems to have kept the tiny insects away.. except for the munchers.. and may be the reason I haven't found any fungus signs ... as of yet...

Gray mold, or bud rot, is a fungal disease that lives best in cool, humid, temperate climates. It is not location-specific and it attacks marijuana plants in all stages of life. Bud rot comes from a fungus called Botrytis cinerea. This fungus can rot your buds from the inside out - thus gray mold's

Great job so far! She looks beatiful.

Defentely applying preemptives helps to avoid mold. I was using water and hydrogen peroxide to make the polen sacks from an hermy sterile. As soon as I stoped doing it because the hermy was harvested the biggest bud of the harvest got bud rot and mold eating the bud rot. It started from the side facing the wall so I didnt see it. This, however, was in an indoors with high temperature and humidity due to lack of equipment to fight the heat. I think outdoors even though they are more exposed is not as dangerous as when you have your tent too hot and humid, spreads like wildfire.

That said, in some areas you have no other choice but to use preemptives because if you dont they will catch something for sure. In your case it will be a matter of knowing your enviroment and if needed swap to strains more fit to it.

Another day comes to an end.... it was a good sunny day..

Hey I grow outdoors also..and I'm in VA..we are in a drought also. And I swear it has been a blessing. My plants are the most potent , frostiest I've ever grown. Also they were up to 15ft tall. Before I trimmed em down..Old school Acapulco gold..I spotted some botrytis today and immediately started chopping one...there 2 weeks out yet. But fuck me that mold is impossible..I use trifecta..also I ordered some Seranade...but I also wash ALL my buds when I chop...I should see the scum left in the water after washing..makes for a better cure and better appearance. Absolutely will not hurt your trichomes or anything else taste wise or smell

I'm a little north of you... looks like we've been having the same weather pattern... LUCKY US....

Well... I'll have to say you have some very impressive grow / grows happening... like to see more of the canopy you've made their.

If the greenery pictures are current.. seem like you just a few weeks behind me... If not them buds are the end product..

Like to know more about your wash procedure... I check the girls every day and night... no signs of any mold...

Blue text date 9/7/24 is an awesome looking plant Snappy!!😍

Great job on the BT also! I remember spraying that stuff before we even saw moths flying around. Sure enough the caterpillars were around but not bad because of preemptive care! Hoping that weather holds out for you! Thanks for sharing your forest with us!
