Outdoor grow in Southeast Michigan 2024

Cut off the wilted branch and nothing. REALLY don't want to dig it up. But the plant is slowly dieing.
Branch showed no reason it wilted.

Observations: The plants that bloomed first got the bud rot and leaf wilt the worst. After they started blooming we had 3 days of rain. 2 days dry then another day of rain 2 days dry another day of rain, etc.
The Afghan Outdoor and Snow Angel started blooming later and have no bud rot.

Also, the short Okanagan Grape early flowering in the extras are on the East side of much taller plants, thereby shielding them.
But the extras don't have the rot like the 12.
What did I do differently?

Heya C we will survive. I’m not sure what this is but my best guess is that it is a borer that has come in from the base of your roots and come straight up your mainstem I’ve had it happen years ago

Were they all planted at the same time? Everyone was feed the same? If yes, I'd say location and/or genetics.

Extras in pots?

I planted them in the ground two weeks later than the 12. They got Septoria, but not the bud rot.

Heya C the plant I spoke of was in the ground and not in a pot. That’s why I changed it up to grow in pots on pallets

Have a problem (another one), this time with the Peanut Butter Herijuana.
One branch suddenly wilted yesterday. I looked everywhere on the branch thinking it might have gotten chewed on but nothing.
Tried giving it water on that side of the plant, but it looked worse a couple hours later.
Next guess is that there is something going on with the roots. ?

when the you made the flower beads qpurola. did you dig up the ground soil underneath the beads. the plant could of used up all the root space and nutrients there in the flower bead. and is struggling to get hold of the soil underneath the bead. could be wrong. but its worth checking when the plants are finished if they made it through the ground soil underneath the flower bead.

I experience that back in the day, Cheeser! Pounded out holes in hard ground! Kept it so comfortable in the holes the roots didn’t want to work hard enough to migrate into the other hard surrounding! Come, late fall In wind and rain, they uprooted easily! An 8 foot plant Would just kind of, fall over! L O L!

Thanks for the thought. I did indeed remove the sod and dig up the subsoil before hubby installed the raised beds.
I learned in my vegetable garden days to double dig and break up the subsoil for good drainage.

Our soil is rock and clay, so the plants in the extra bed for sure hit it before the 12.
I'm beginning to think it's just bad timing with our weather the way it was earlier this summer.

The 12 were farther along growing than the extras. And I've been giving them ferts and Recharge every couple weeks.
I even used those Mosquito bits in water once to get rid of any fugus gnats.

yeah ive had the same chucky. plants blown by the wind the roots snap underneath the soil. and the plant looks underwatered. the roots tend to branch out wide to chucky. so they dont really grow deep roots. you want a big surface area for thee roots to grow out for more support. if that makes sense

Yes, it makes sense! Weed is considered a shallow, rooting plant! Likes to spread out shallow!

I requested bigger beds, 4' by 4', but got vetoed by the engineer when he calculated how much soil it would take to fill all 12. LOL
So I got 3 by 3. Oh, and a 2 by 12 by 12 makes a great 3 by 3 box. LOL

yeh im with you cpurola weathers been crap here to this year. if the soil underneath is ok i cant see why the roots wouldnt have space to grow out the flower beads. dno maybe chuckys right with the pythium. theres is some decent products you can get to treat it. if its that.

From what I’ve read, it’s incurable! And you don’t wanna grow in the same place again! It loves wet environment! I think another name, for it is water, mold! L O L! That’s why I don’t use my pond water to water with!

I think that’s why cpurrrr Was praying it is not Pythium! She would’ve had to break it to the engineer that the soil is no good, and needs to be changed out! I would love to see the look on his face!

Okay, so I alread decided that NEXT YEAR, I'm planting --2-- plants in the extras bed.
One will be an Afghan something, maybe one of those that GNick likes, Afghanica, and a CBD heavy plant.

The 12 will be.......?

I think you need to get away from the FuFu strains. Maybe check out HSC! Humboldt. Dream, old growth OG, Don Carlos, Stuff with a solid outdoor background! Now I’ll shut up! Good luck! And don’t overlook the triploid! I’m impressed! Leave the fu fu to the plastic sun growers!

I agree. All them double back flip names with no linage freak me out. I’ve only grown Dutch passion for years, always good.
