Well, checking over my plants today and i found these little dudes. Eating at the stems - only 3 small parts so far but im sure theyre all over. Harvesting soon anyway.I've found like 3 Carerpillar's so far.
Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear about those little pests. It’s good that you caught them early. Keep an eye on the plants, and hopefully, they won’t cause much more damage before harvest.Well, checking over my plants today and i found these little dudes. It's good that folks look out for the newbee's here, me being one of them! Having a first grow of 12 plants has certainly taught me a thing or two this season. As for the Mold, I would say that I've tossed a good couple of pounds of fresh weed. The way I've been doing it is this, and please let me know if you all agree:I am sure I've smoked some awful shit in my day just don't want a newb to burn a nug covered in rot you know. No worries man

Great info thanks for sharing. I pulled a plant this year for bud rot that turned out to be bug poop. Wish I'd joined earlier.Could be bud end rot from a calcium deficiency if you arent seeing any mold on the affected buds? Another possibility is worms/caterpillars. We have a lot of cabbage moths here and they like to lay eggs in buds. The eggs become caterpillars and feed on the plant. Pop the end off one of the buds. If you see black stuff that's poop. Very small worms can take up residence in buds or even in stems/branches. Back in the late 80s/early 90s IIRC there was this killer bud going around. My buddies and I discovered that there were these tiny dead worms in the stems. The flower was untouched. Dealers thought we were nuts going around asking for the weed with the worms.![]()
I'm definately not an expert, but I have been inspecting my early cut under a microscope to monitor what happens with the trichomes after the cut. I had no amber when cut. Many did transition to a light orange / amber during the drying process. The buds are curing with no further changes to the trichomes. Here's a picture of a bud at 1, 2, 5, and 10X magnify on my iPhone. I'm thinking a couple more weeks, but do you think I'm close enough that if I had to chop sooner I might get half way decent results?

The dark orange an dred hairs give me anxiety lol they do look like rot sometimes. Personally you can save buds but I don't risk it. Rot or a lot of pm and the whole branch goes. Pm is different if it's not on the buds I let it try to recover but any heavy spot gets removed. It's a part of life just don't end up with rot innyourndry room or it's all screwed. A good tip is see s dead sugar leaf, pull on it, if it comes out easy it's rot. Remember sunlight and air flow prevent the disease BUT a silent killer are those stupid dead leaves that blow and get stuck to buds. I remove those daily just to be safe. That is what I have off the top of my head, hang in there. We have 4 days of rain do I might lost my last plant. If you grow pounds then tossing weed doesn't matter. Play it safeIt's good that folks look out for the newbee's here, me being one of them! Having a first grow of 12 plants has certainly taught me a thing or two this season. As for the Mold, I would say that I've tossed a good couple of pounds of fresh weed. The way I've been doing it is this, and please let me know if you all agree:
When I find obvious mold, I inspect the rest of the bud. If the mold seems isolated, I remove the mold and salvage the rest of the Bud. If the Rot seems to have effected other parts, I toss the whole bud. If the Rot seems dispersed to more then two or three place on a Cola, I toss the whole Cola. In one case, I tossed an entire plant because the mold was on every stem, every Cola and in more than one place. I just didn't seem reasonable to continue. When I do keep a bud/cola, I bend the bud to see the stem to make sure it's not brown/grey/black. I found that bud rot is confusing when the plant is wet from rain. Those red hairs can look like mush and resemble rot. I think I probably tossed some good week before I figured this out. Hopefully keeping the parts that look good and just tossing the rotted pieces is legit. It does freak me out a bit thinking about Rot that might be lurking in these buds undetected.
There were still some hippies around when I was born, but they were fading fast!Looks like rot to me, but it’s hard to tell from pictures! Sometimes I wonder if a UV flashlight might help you sort through all of this stuff. They don’t cost much. What a tedious process! Maybe you’ve got an old black light laying around from your hippie days!
Sorry to hear. Sucks to go through such a process only to get screwed in the end. There were still some hippies around when I was born, but they were fading fast!
I might just toss this whole plant. I hope I didn't put moldy weed in my hanging baskets. Now I'm freaking out about mold.
Watch it! You young squirt! L O L! Might be able to buy a UV light bulb at a local store, and give it a whirl! There were still some hippies around when I was born, but they were fading fast!

At this point, I'm just tossing anything that even looks like bud rot. Fuck it.Watch it! You young squirt! L O L! Might be able to buy a UV light bulb at a local store, and give it a whirl!
