Friday night the 57 Chevy down Gratiot avenue how much fun those days were

Rain, round one, I’d say the garden did good. I never cover them. Hopefully the next round of rain coming will be easy on them. View attachment 2284857
Hey Eternal, hope you can keep your gals vertical with all that weight. I have a tip for supporting tall plants. I take an 8 ft plastic coated steel stake ($2.99 at Lowe’s) and drive it into the ground about 1.5 ft. I then slide a 10 ft x 1.5” PVC over the stake and I have a pole tall enough and strong enough to support the main branch on my 11 footer. You could tie all your branches to one support post and if you need added support, you run one of your long strings from your barn to the post. Just a thought for your tall plants.

That’s brilliant!!! I’ve been seeking a better (taller) way.

You’re not wrong, just exciting finishing a five pound plant.
For us, over here, that isn't happening. Not saying it isn't possible, I'm not seeing it though. How much of that 5# plant is salvageable? A lot of energy and money going on between those good years or the one monster that makes it through unscathed.

I'm sounding a tad bitter today, huh?

Carry on. I'm not trying to piss on your parade.

You are not sounding bitter at all. That actually sounds really good. And you’re putting up a convincing argument that maybe someday I will for sure tent grow. But I just love being outside.

Oh, I do too. And I will continue to be outside with my veggies and my flowers. I'd be lost without all of that outdoor stuff. Nails dirty. Just don't think I can with this plant again. Don't struggle in my gardens at all. Maybe another reason this has bothered me like it has.

It also depresses me that 25-30 years ago, stuck a clone on the edge of a hill at the top of a runoff. Someone else's land my dumb ass snuck on. Went back once. Went to pull before gun season started and I had a harvestable crop. A good bit too. That couldn't be done with today genetics and that is just the reality. Sad, but true.

Love what all of you guys do outdoors, I'm just not built like that. Give me the genes from 30 years ago and I'll go all day long.

We got NO RAIN out of that last threat. But, they say our summer is finally coming to an end, Monday.
