A+ on the setup dude! I’m running the duke blend & 3.0 in a 50/50 ratio in 10 galllon pots and my gals seem to like it.
Awesome! I’m 2:1 / duke / light recipe, glad they like it! Really goin deep quick but that’s what I normally do haha

Hope ya stick around the topic!

Do you have a journal going?

When you transplanting in to the pots?
There doing good, little beat up, just really cold, staying around 71 in the cloner tent and RH is low as hell but they got roots showing so they’ll be good

I lm lucky to even have those temps sitting in the basement floor and temps have been down in the low teens to single digits for awhile now, running the light 24/7 in the cloner tent

hey are you running any h2o2 in your cloner unit?

I’m hoping your thread will help more people understand living soil.
Feel free to post pics and stuff you have going on! The more informative the topic the better! I like seeing different stuff, the ways others use etc. it is also fun, reading and seeing what different feeds you can use, the gnarly barely will go on in awhile the soil being fresh should be plenty to go untouched, already hve the worms and cover crop in and have the bag of build a flower ready for when I’m close to flip, I don’t expect vegging long wanna be close to finishing flower before it becomes too hot in summer, then I plan to cycle them if I can and just run lower wattage lights and maybe run some lettuce or spinach while the outdoor plants run then have then ramp back up in fall.

The outdoor no tills I think will be the summer focus as I build those beds, they’ve had cover crop going since fall, and I’ll add in some of the white clover as soon as the snow melts I’ll put in some gnarly barley and might pick up some kashi,

What are your favorite feeds / top dresses to use? I’m looking for all opinions to look into, was gunna look into grains like oats and barley etc and what types increase what nutrient value when brown down

Really want it to evolve into full on near forest floor type conditions

These were actually taken a few weeks back

Come spring, are you going to cover the planters to warm them up a bit? Is it worth it?

I was thinking of using plastic around the 2x4’s to make a mini greenhouse but I think they’ll heat up quick, especially being in the garden that’s fully lined with the black tarps, we’ve had cold cold temps but not for extended periods of time, much less than usual , im expecting a much quicker thaw in spring I don’t think the freeze was as deep as it normally is this year.

But I mean the winter rye and clover was growin right through the snow haha

I like where I have them located gunna put some sort of roof over them like the clear corrugated and they’ll be netted there’s a fence behind them which is the direction the wind normally comes from and I think I’m gunna do shade netting around them sides kinda free airflow greenhousing to help knock down any wind since we can occasionally get 78-80mph gusts they’ll be protected I don’t plan to have large plants honestly I wan 2 nice manageable plants just healthy fun summer grow, something I can mess around with while I’m in the veggie garden , so I don’t have to deal with the heat and humidity indoors and I’ll just grow some herbs etc in the 30gals while I top dress them etc for the next cycle

Hell yeah I’m right there with ya! A wise man once said “anything worth doing is worth doing right”.
I’m still a total beginner, first timer but the living soil way made the most sense to me. Here’s my living soil grow, about to harvest any day now :)

Decided to start up a new topic for this new setup. I have decided to go to full living organic soil, while I was running organics in 12 gallon pots we are increasing everything.

The setup continues to build but the game plan is simple, 3x 30 gallon Grassroots Living Soil Pots, soil will be a mix of 2 bags of Diamond Duke Dominion blend, and 1 bag of Build a Soil Light Recipe per 30 gallon pot, plan will be to keep the soil level somewhat low, with 3 cubic feet of soil totaling about 22.5 gallons of soil per bag to start them off

They will be getting Landrino white clover cover crop as well as a 13 seed cover crop mix. Also plan to top with straw, will have red wigglers coming when the bags are put together

Bases for each bag are a 24” hot water tank heater drain pan, 5 cinder brick stood on their side, and on top is 2 pieces of coated clothes racks 30”x18” each overlapping 6” in the middle resting on the center brick there will be the 2 in the 4x8 and 1 in the 4x4 soil and base and bag here and ready to go in as soon as the 4x4 empties, no rush she smells like Hawaiian Punch in there 😜👊👊

Once the current run finishes in the 4x4 and I can move in the bag I’ll fill all 3 up and start the cover crop, the cuts going in will be done 1x of the revegged Frostette #6, 1x kahuna #2, and 1x Kahuna #3

figured I’d start the topic ahead of time as I gather materials and get stuff set up!
You won't want to go back once you get dialed in after a bunch of runs, easy mode ✌️

Here is the status of my current grows. The stretch on my 2x4 with the city picker pots and 3.0 recipe went way out of control. I’m going to have to add another scrog and bend them away from the light. I just stuffed a couple clones in my other 2x4 with 15 gallon grass roots pots and my own mix. Last the 5x5 tent is just going ape shit. It has 5 plants that are just stacking like crazy.

So true! I don't even top dress amendments anymore. For many runs I was unknowingly underwatering and seeing deficiencies, after getting the moisture dialed in I think I was seeing more burn from the initial top dressing after every cycle mindset. now I just make sure the worms and detritivores have enough food.

Those ecowitts are great, would have saved me from a lot of guess work.

Nownn no I gotta figure out good ranges, looks like I can keep the bottom around 40% and top half around 25-27% pretty consistantly across the tents looks like the top half of the 4x4 tent’s pot is a bit higher at 35%, guess I can test out best moisture ranges top and bottom in the 3 pots to test the best moisture at each level or balance them…. Hmm

I try and keep mine between 35-45%.

Just in general I’m guessing, top / bottom the same?

Was seeing a lot of people said They liked to keep the bottom wetter and top bit drier kinda like outdoors the deeper you did the wetter it gets, to a limit though

I would love it if I could get it even throughout. The problem I face in a big ass 100 gallon is watering in excess of 6 gallons every time and if I rush it takes the path of least resistance straight to the floor. One of these days I really want to set up some sort of automatic system.

That’s actually something I’m looking at! I may run 2 seperate zones and really test some stuff out! These 30 gals seem pretty nice I was just eyeballing it and sitting near the 40% sweet spot on the bottom, I’ve been using literally 1.5 gallons so just about a half gallon a day since I set up and the initial watering with 1.5 gallons each slowly. Haven’t had a drip out the bottom of any of them so until I get the plants in i think I’m in the zone, the cover crop is all coming up nice so I’m letting that come in nice

Add in the GW2000 and smart watering timer and I believe I can set limits for each pot I gotta see how it was set up, but can water each pot individually with valves.
