I manage my tolerance, im not a heavy smoker at all. But i do have plants that are probably 18% thc tops that still hit harder then anything blue dream ive ever had. Ive smoked lots of anxiety free, clear minded, and potent sativas too, and milder ones that ive thoroughly enjoyed.,
I tend to think we have developed expectations of the effects of cannabis and when a strain doesn't meet those expectations we write it off as a dud. I justify my weed use with the medical benefits I enjoy but it's also about the recreational value too. I found strains like Blue Dream and Durban Poison are better for productivity and creativity and best enjoyed early in the day. I'll still toke a Sativa at night or smoke a couch locker first thing in the morning but before I even reach for a jar I have a general idea which direction I want to go and I'll pick something out that's suitable and capable of taking me there. If I just want to get stoned I'll pull nugs from different jars and ride the entourage train, lol.
I'm a daily toker, wouldn't say I'm a heavy user. Daily uptake total is probably about 150mg and my own weed still occasionally gives me green outs.
And everyone's different too. When it comes to blue dream, even with a very intentionally managed tolerance, id just rather stay sober or eat a blueberry muffin or something lol. But thats just me.
I am FAR from the only non heavy smoker that has this opinion too lol. Its actually pretty common these days. I manage my own tolerance very intentionally, because most of the strains i enjoy the most arent as potent as the modern sativas. In my own personal opinion, the bloue dream genotypes arent even worth growing. But thats just my opinion.
And yea, almost nobody breeds based on how much they enjoy the smoke anymore, they breed based on thc readouts and terpene centrifuge readouts, or just straight up yield. I have sativas that are prob close to 30% thc, that jhave clear minded, productive, energetic highs, and are also predictable if you dont have a tolerance. I have milder plants too, with several different kinfds of high, and i intentionally manage my tolerance so that i can enjoy their unique qualities.
i still have buds from blue dream genotypes that are close to a year old now, and im not smoking it, i cant even give it away for free, and i also didnt take care of it very well because no one wanted it, so it doesnt even taste good if i blast it now.
These opinions may not be yours. But im not just writing blue dream off as a dud, as far as im concerned, to me and anyone in my personal circles, blue dream, just IS a dud to most that are not just an occasional weekend kind of smoker.
i spent years growing and selling for a living. If you grow a ton of blue dream everyone buys it up like its the best thing ever... for one bag. And then you sit on the rest til its no bueno anymore.
im not the only grower with a bunch of old blue dream they ignore even when theyre out of fresher stuff. Including myself theres at least 3 in this forum active online right now lmao. I pull a cola early or go buy some stuff from the store before i smoke on that stuff. I blow through a full doob or a couple bowl, or multiple dabs, and 30 mins later i cant even tell that i smoked at all. Ive never seen a private grower keep a blue dream genotype clone mother more then 2-3 cycles before they let it go either. Just commercial facilities that run extracts lol. You lose money growing blue dream commercial unless you are an outdoor grower, or your facility runs their own concentrates. Same applies to a private grower, in my own personal experience anyway.
(just opinions, experiences and observations, everybody's got em, and im also an asshole, so dont mind me too much. But smoking anything is bad for you, so i want it to actually do something besides taste like breakfast, and maybe have a buzz that doesnt leave you wanting to smoke again in 15 minutes. And tbh, at least imho, anyone who says they consume entirely for medical purposes, but prefers the ROA of smoking, is lying to themselves too and likely has a psychological dependency they are in denial about. Im dependent on coffee, but i dont tell myself i consume it medically to feel ok about that. I just consume it anyway because i like it)
