So I've decarbed my weed prior to converting it to an edible. But my question is, why am I possibly decarbing up to 3 times when making a batch of simple brownies. Isn't to much heat bad, for the process?

So can someone tell me why its important to (#1) decarb, at say 250 degrees f for 45 min, then (#2) infuse oil/butter at around the same temp, for another 3 to 4 hours, then (#3) bake in a brownie batter at 350 degrees for, for another 50 min or so. At what point has the heat, and longevity of heat ruined all THC levels.

I've also been told to be careful when decarbing, as to not over decarb, and degrade the THC.

Yes I do know that the only way to convert THCA into THC is by heat and time. But at what point is it too much.

If you bake a brownie at 350 the internal temp is only around 180-200. So yes decarb and then infuse.

Ardentcannabis has a bunch of good info on their site about decarb vs infusion. Then buy a machine and make your life sooooo much easier.👍

I don’t infuse at 250°! More like 200! I don’t want this shit boiling! But it’s still probably contribute some decarbing effect!

That’s why back in the day, sometimes you were comatose and other times didn’t get high at all. No one (I knew) really understood the science. Throw a bunch of weed in a brownie mix and nothing. Infuse into butter on the stove, it would decarb, and they’d find you in a ditch 3 days later.

So if the brownie mix is bubbly, its well over 210. I'd have to say that the batter has to reach a certain degree (295) to initiate bread to bake. And then the time (40min) it takes to have it change from a semi liquid state, to a solid state. But sure I guess some brownies don't get that hot.

Does anyone know anything about the alpha 420

I just stick with the oven decarb, a long infusion at 190 or 200, and then the brownie mix baking! It works! I’m not gonna risk 6 ounces of bud and 3 pounds of butter to find out otherwise without the oven! I suppose there’s more scientific ways you can do it!

Well search AI just makes up shit these days, so take what you will;

“Brownies are typically baked at 350°F (175°C), but the internal temperature when they are done varies depending on the desired texture. Fudgy brownies are typically done when they reach an internal temperature of 165-170°F (74-77°C), while cakey brownies should reach 200-210°F (93-99°C).”

I am partial to the cakey ones! Next time I make some, I’ll break out the meat thermometer and try and get a reading! Lol!

I use an Ardent FX for decarb
Easy and my edibles are always activated

I use syrup and oil kind of like a condiment
Half teaspoon of syrup and 3-5 drops of infused mct oil

I've never understood why if your infusing you need to decarb first. I'm assuming the thc needs to be activated before infusion. I decarb because that's what I read to do.

When you smoke it, the heat activates it! When you eat it, you need to activate it! Or you won’t get a buzz! In my simple world, the oven takes care of that! Then I can get on with making a hell of a mess!😂🍻 you read right!

I have a Ninja Foodi combo pressure cooker and slow cooker that I use for making my edibles. The Ninja pressure cooks at 240 degrees for the decarb and then I do the infusion with coconut oil with thee slow cook function. When you are doing brownies you can check with a thermometer but internal temp of the brownie mix shouldn't typically go high enough to trigger more decarbing. But if you do happen to get your brownies too hot, expect a more relaxed slightly sleepy buzz off them. BTW when I make brownies I pretty much do it to make use of the leftover pulp after I do an infusion. Yup, my brownies are really just the byproduct but they will kick your ass.

Just explained it. The internal temperature of most foods don’t get hot enough to decarb the weed. Use a cooking thermometer and check the temperature. I make gummies. The temp of the gelatin mix is ~130F, much too low to decarb the weed (or to degrade your infused oil).

Ive made budder countless times, always super potent, like cant get off the floor potent!ive never oven decarbed, just in a slow cooker on high for 12 hours, filling with water every hour until the last 2 hours..perfect every time.i put 2 ozs of popcorn and trim in 1 pound of coconut oil

I keep my edibles much more simple. Decarb at 105C (220F) in a fan oven for 15 minutes. I spice grind it into a fine powder and stir it into dark chocolate in a Bain Marie at a ratio of around 50:50 by volume. Pour into a silicon chocolate bar mould and let it set. It is seriously strong, so a tiny blim is all you need. Best bit is the lack of calories... until the munchies set in at least! One decarb at 105C for 15 minutes is plenty, and any more will be loosing the more lively volatiles in Sativa strains.

Ya,but how is the taste and texture?

The trick with brownies is, you’ll make your butter as strong as you can, then if the recipe calls for half a cup of oil you put in a cup of butter! Or a cup and a half if it calls for 3/4 of a cup! Beat it up cook it and take a little bite! Don’t be afraid to put in a lot more butter than the recipe calls for!
