Thanks, appreciate that. Yeah, staying alive has been the goal here too.Yeah those look way better. My first 2 seasons the only goal was to keep them alive. I didn't care about much else until I figured that part out. Since you said its hot and humid, the only thing you should think about is defoliating them a little to get as much airflow as possible to the middle. Keep it dry and stay away from the diseases. Other than that, bravo man. They look good and healthy.
I did take the previous advice of defoliating, but I suspect either I didn't do enough, or not in the right places. The plants have gotten bushier since. I think I'm just afraid I'm trimming wrong. I've seen people doing it with snips, and others just grabbing and pulling by hand. I think maybe I need a bit more studying on proper pruning technique.
