Thanks @GNick55, this year I'm using Sunshine mix #4 potting soil and I amended it with worm castings, bone meal, and crappy cow manure before transplant. I got a moisture meter and check it when the leaves start drooping, usually the second day after I water or it rains.
I'm using well water (un-softened, just sticks and twigs filter) so they probably have enough minerals. I need to keep them as healthy as possible with the diseases around here.

I've been using Megacrop and Recharge every 2 weeks or so.

I watched the videos you posted about top dressing with Gia Green and then adding 'other stuff'. That's where I need direction, the 'other stuff'. Thanks much.
ok,. worm castings bone meal and cow manure, well that’s pretty well amended,. than feeding mega crop every 2 weeks,. i’d say your fine with that,. though eventually you may see the plants start to show signs of deficiency than start feeding more often if not every watering,,

If I feed more often, then it should be a lighter dose, correct?
Should I add flower food?

Started a flower pot with rosemary, basil, and stuck a few mini zinnias in there.
Ya, the poor rosemary has been overtaken. LOL

A question for GNick55 and cpurola.

Are you in ground or pots, or both.

I'm assuming pots, because of all the loss of nutrients thru watering, or rains.

Don't understand the benefits of using pots, unless your natural soil isn't worthy for growing in, or all ya have is the back deck on the house/small yard.

Just curious. Just smoked one, and my mind is ....u know 😂

Me too, both.
I grow my autos in 7 gallon fabric pots, photos in 20 gallon pots and in ground.

Last year my beds were infested with verticillium wilt, so this year, in order to use the space and trellis setup I set my 20 gallon pots on top of the dirt to avoid that particular malady. I also sprayed every bio-fungicide I had on that dirt. So far, so good.
I have not grown photos in potting soil outdoors successfully and needed some advice from an experienced grower.

And you're just fine, I had my Afghan cookie a little while ago and I have to keep backing up to correct typos. LOL

I just smoked one so I could read your question, without prejudice. 🙃

I just did a read on that nasty stuff. The only way to really kill it is to heat the soil. I tried to download a link, but it didn't work.

Guy from Ohio State University says to till the area, wet it, and cover in one or two pieces of clear plastic, and let the sun do the work. Takes about 6 months. (Id go all year ) But you'll have your grow area back.

It sterilizes the soil of all pathogens and such. Other than that, it takes years for it to go away. Treating the soil won't kill it....."they say"

I would think lime or something would kill it. But I don't know, never had to deal with it.

I guess it comes from other soil that's contaminated, by wind typically, and if u keep growing the same thing in.the same place each year, brings on problems, too. "They say"

So the question is, why pots.
To control size, type of medium used, ( build a soil ) . 🚬🤔 What's the benefit.

Nice to know, from those that do, and do it well 👍
I can answer these questions let's start with pots definitely to control size and yes medium soil holds water retention longer and best part about pots keeps price down on veg and flowering fertilizers

Now let's talk about the ground dirt goes to China if you grow sativas plants will grow to the Moon LOL

Here's a downfall of growing in the ground fertilizers will cost you a ton of money because you use four times as much as growing in pots

There's no competition between growing in the ground and pots

Yep, did all the research last year when I lost my whole crop. And you're correct, the dirt came from an unknown source and the weather, very wet spring, probably had a factor in the 'bloom' of fungus' last year.

And I'm one of those people who put their tomato plants in the same place every year. And they get the wilt diseases. It got so bad the leaves were black before the first ripe tomato. So I sprayed an arsenal of bio-fungicides from Arbico Organics and the next year they looked great right up until the first frost. I'm a believer.
So, I "put that shit on everything". LOL

I disagree, at least in my case, the 'extras' I'm not fertilizing at all and they seem to be doing fine. The pots I'm feeding every 2 weeks and they look about the same.

I'm not sure I can agree on the fertilizer needed for in ground plants.

Once amended with what I put in it, I really don't need anything more. Though I did top dress with the last of the bag of composted manure I used to amend with, and a couple splashes of miracle grow. I haven't done squat most of the past month, but water.
There's a 5 gallon bucket of fish buried around the outer base of the root system, as well as amended with manure and peat moss w/perlite. A battery to plug into, so to say. The fish should feed the bloom. It offers everything a growing cannabis needs. 😉

I hope. Worked for years on my veggies.

Pots,my main worry is overheating the soil. Other than that, I may try it for a auto or two.

I see what ya mean about heading for the moon. I'm dealing with a 6&8 footer right now, and haven't gone to stretch, yet. 😆

Never have a problem with stink. Gotta bury things deep. All the way to the hard pan. For me...that's 10-12" deep. Then I mound my soil up to the plant. So now it's even deeper.
