My friend is a farmer, they use that method in the fields. They never used to, I guess it works.
I implemented it into our front yard garden with the tomatoes. Made a triangle type deal with the posts then just strung the crap out of the outside of the plants. Works really well! Until your plants grow above how tall your post are!😆 next season im using taller posts! : )

First two are the cages, it comes in a roll , so it ain’t hard to make them. Cut the horizontal pieces on bottom, it gives plenty of support when you push it in the ground

@Oldchucky let me ask you this. Does this look like reveg to you and if so wouldn't that preclude it from being an auto? I am assuming auto's wouldn't have a need for that survival trait but F if I know. Thoughts please? Anyone else too...I am here to learn...teach me.😉
Sure looks like it is re-vegging. I just had one do it. Thankfully she’s had enough time to re-establish herself. Quit throwing nitrogen into the nutes and hype up the P & K. That seemed to help. Also, do not use super thrive!

Yep! If it’s been going since March is definitely not an auto! Reveg it is! Sometimes they stay in reveg limbo for a couple of months! I have put some out in early May that started to flower! I immediately popped some more beans because I knew I screwed up royally! But I let the others go and in the next two months they look pretty much like yours! Going nowhere fast! I got tired of looking at them! So I executed them with some number four turkey shot! Just to make myself feel better! In my opinion, premature flowering early on is about the worst thing that can happen! Putting them out too early really doesn’t gain you anything in the fall! But it can really screw your grow up if you’re dealing with a reveg! And it is totally avoidable by just waiting until it is safe to put them out full-time or using supplemental lighting to extend the hours of daylight until it is safe to remove it! People don’t give the hours of light and dark the respect it deserves! And wind up getting torched!

And people have been using welded wire caging to support plants for decades without ill effect! I’ve used it! The only problem I found was accessing all of the plant if necessary! You’re gonna have a hell of a lot worse things to worry about than whether your plant is contacting metal!

Update: there is younger pics of these plants on page 34 of this thread, post 679 I think. These pics were taken yesterday & the indica Permanent Marker photo started flowering last week (shortest of the 4 photos). The 3 Skywalkers are still vegging it seems & I expect they will start flowering in less than a week.

The 3 autos budding out were germinated May 27th. Giving them light Jacks feeding every 4 days & then they also get Athena, Aphrodite, Kraken & Megamorpheus from Nectar for the God's the other days (light amounts). Giving Permanent Marker all that stuff also. Skywalkers just get Jacks, Athena & Aphrodite for now.

Basil & marigolds have done well keeping pests away. I bring the auto pot into garage & keep them awake under red spectrum desk light after sun goes down til 2AM. Same light I start seeds (white spectrum) with but has 3 different spectrums you can switch around.

I went and looked at my posts and it looks like I had them out full time late April. Looking at sun time hours here that would have been just about 12.5 hours day here where I am and then I had them in full sun because no one could tell what they where when they were that young. So that was too early. Good to know.

I also see where she showed me her sex right at the end of May.

I also wonder since I moved after I repotted her again to the back porch at night and we turn on the back lights when we let the dogs out at night and early in the morning (5am ish) when we start feeding animals. I wonder if that threw her off. Who knows.

Well I'm not gonna shoot her 😂 , I'll let it ride chalking it up to live and learn and see where it leads.

Thanks!

I think the damage was done long before any porch light affect!😁 that porch light might have been beneficial if you had used it right from the get-go! But you don’t want to use porch lights once they go into flower! You want it as pitch black as possible in your grow area! If you are askeert of the dark, then you’re gonna have problems!😂🍻

It’s all good, might get a little spot of rub, that’s it. Engineer? Cool. One of my clients is an engineer and head of a firm that builds stadiums and big stuff all over the world. Great profession!
It’s just that it tends to rust. That’s the only thing I know. I own a company building roads and highways. Sucks a$$ in the summer, but rewarding!

First time I’ve ever seen someone use 6x6 concrete wire for Scrog. Only noticed bc I’m an engineer. I just wouldn’t want my bud against metal, at all.
Keep us updated!

Oh thats a good idea! Yeah i was planning on getting something similar to that for the final support netting.

I never even considered the rust! It wasn’t a thing when i used it up in the hills for the big time operations. Hope it doesnt f anything up this time around.

Used it for years as a cage (not Scrooge). I’ll spray paint it to keep the rust down but even if you don’t it’s not a big deal.

And the welds tend to pop. I’ve used it a lot as guards for my fruit trees but it doesn’t last long. I switched to using some of our left over goat fence.

Just to throw in my experience, I've had good germination from RQS, Seed Supreme and Homegrown. Plants have been healthy growers, but interestingly, the Homegrown Fat Mazzy was advertised not to grow much past 2 feet, and the RQS Royal Moby was supposed to get nearly 10 feet tall.
Both are neck and neck at 4 feet right now. Not complaining, just amused!
(outdoor grower here) I got free seeds from Seedsman 4 years ago. Read the descriptions, 6-8 feet, okay. They topped out at 12-13 feet. Totally unprepared for that! Had them in 10 gallon bags, and had to cable them to the greenhouse to stop them from falling over. Oh, and I DID top them once. LOL

My newbie days, beginner's luck. LOL
(there's a greenhouse behind the plants)

lol ya superthrive is b vitamins, that is vegging horomones basically. You gotta stop using that shit before preflower.
