Growing outdoors from seed in high desert Southern New Mexico

It's been wonky the whole time. This Kush OG has reactions everytime I feed it. It did not like worm casting tea. We've gotten up to 107 but it only looks like this on one side. Hoping the temps are going down now..100 yesterday. I have to water daily...

I didn't think my dairy was getting seen lol
Mine look similar, it's the heat.. and you have yours out in the open, mine are semi shaded. They should bounce back in a few months.

Looking good! And I hope so! I will try moving it to a corner & see if that helps. It's only on 1 side that gets the morning sun. The side that gets the hottest sun isn't bad. Today I wanted to give it a hair cut haha, jk. But, I was tempted. Thanks for your help💚

If they are fertilizer, grow dots. They are supposed to last all year pretty much with one application! Just two cents! Might be kind of overdoing it on the recharge also! But that shouldn’t hurt anything! But grow dots are one and done!

It's my first grow outside (buddy popped a few of my seeds and gave a couple ladies back to me , but he topped them .. wish he hadn't) , but my brother n law grew 15-20 of them outside a few years back, did pretty good,he made it to the harvest with no problems. And we're out here in the Coachella Valley with crazy temps above 100-110 during the summer. He covered his with a shade and had this large water cooler on them during the day. Dude would bring them inside his house if it ever rained..

I have no advice for an outdoor grow other chiming in with a comment on folks saying the pot is too small. I had an indoor plant I should have transplanted before flip and didn’t. It got root bound in flower. I borrowed an idea from some other user on this site and filled a bigger pot with soil about halfway and placed the plant/ pot on top of the bigger pot. When I harvested the plant completely filled the larger pots stretched through the drainage holes. So I had a 5 and 10 gallon root system.

Trial and error... Right? Hey at least we ain't giving up!!👊 Your on the way to being the Mojave Pro 👊💚
The help on this forum IS exceptional!

Speaking of which I just appropriated some right from this thread!

Don't know if this can still help but I figure it can't hurt.

I started smoking in 1968... Wow I'm old lol. Last year finally decided to grow some myself. I bought 2 plants & it all went pretty well. I couldn't find much info on anyone growing in the extreme temps we have in our area. 1 was a Haze of some sort, and I've loved it so much that I have not been back to a dispensary since. The other plant wasn't as good... To my liking, so I've given most of it away.
This year I was given seeds & planted about 12. Kush OG, African & God Father.
I've got 5 plants going. I started the seeds in solo cups outdoors, on 4/20/25.
The 1 Kush has been kinda finicky. Doesn't seem to like much nutrients & seems to have a bad reaction when I've given it worm casting tea. Strange.
We hit 107 one day last week, the plants are very thirsty!! Our temps are steady at nothing less than 100-105 degrees now. LoL. I'm doing the best I can to grow my medicine where I live. :-)
1st pic is of all plants in a row. Front 1 is one of the "African".
I’m in the same boat. Right here in southeast NM. I’m on my third year growing after retiring and resuming consuming. I started my first grow with a bag seed I found. I netted almost four pounds of awesome buds from it. Probably threw away 2-3 pounds of clippings. I have a picture of it somewhere. I still have some of it haha! Near as I could figure it was sour diesel. This year we’ve been traveling but I still am nursing four plants. All in different stages of flower.

I just did that, yesterday!
4-6 inches of potting soil, half a bag of worm castings.
The old pots were 5 gallons, new are 10. I stripped off the 5s along with some roots. (my bad)
Didn't have enough potting soil to bury the roots, so I just set them on top.
We'll see if it helps.

I think that was a great move and those plants will love you for it

Wow man that's great! Nice to meet you! 👋
I don't know how you can travel with all those needy girls! Lol!
I plan on growing 1 or 2 in raised beds next year and also setting aside larger pots.. Per advice ;-)
I bet they were awesome!! 4 lbs .. sheesh that's alot👀 and that's a bunch of "clippings".. lol. I do fresh herb tinctures so I'd be breaking the bank buying enough vodka to make liniment out of that much trim! Haha. Are you in high altitude? Do you get snow in your area?
Someone in town grew a plant last year next to their jalapeno plants & wow that was some spicy skunk! LMBO!
BTW: There's cops in my area who can't wait to retire & grow, LoL.

Heck ya!!! I tried to talk to hubby about my honey do's .. He was like wth 👀 haha. He don't wanna be trying to drill holes in the bottoms of my pots hahaha While the pots have pot in them. ;-)

I can't wait to see what happens in 2 wks for ya!
I bet this will make a big difference! Whoot!!!

Oh my gosh!! That's some stamina... All that moving👀 Haha air-conditioning for the outside grow..WTH. That guy wins an award! Have you grown indoors in the past? We got up to 110 last summer. I was watering 2x a day. I'm rootin & rawin for your outdoor grow!! !! It's so exciting especially ...trying to be prepared ahead of time for this crazy weather Haha!
One year I put ice in our swamp cooler!! But running a water cooler for Mary Jane takes the cake!! Love it!💚

You are so right!!! I read up on Kush strains and ..I guess they only need 25% of nutrients. So I cut that down today. I might cut down even more if this Kush doesn't get it together! LOL
Ditto on the grow dots, I understood to only use that 1x at potting up.
(You know how grannies are.. We think everyone needs to eat more!) Lol

We’re at 3900 and some feet. We do get snow but seldom a lot. Here is the 4 pounder. This was a few weeks before I began cutting and hanging. It was so big the Google Earth car came by and captured it on street view. Hahahaha! Glad it’s legal. Ok
