Tell me what u think! These r in day 73 overall since seed and 29 of flower. Any constructive criticism, any suggestions or any trash talking is welcome. Everything I've done has been from listening to u guys and watching YouTube. I'm super happy for my first grow. Two feminized seeds from bc buds and a bag seed which is unknown. Surprisingly the bag seed is doing amazing in comparison. Please tell me anything u have on your mind about them!

The stretch of the plant looks like a long term lack of light. Increase energy to stack nodes for better yield. Your nitrogen looks high but prolly would have been spot on with more energy on the grow.
First grow made it to flower. Better than me and a lot of growers.

Thanks man! Ive been thinking that the light situation is def a problem. Nitrogen is due to excess worm castings i used maybe? Tell me more lol

BTW if u look at the one lanky ugly plant compared to the other two makes me question a lot of stuff also.

Well done for your first time out.

The node spacing may be genetic but I'm going to guess that some if had to do with your lighting. It looks like they stretched reaching for light. I'm also going to guess that the lights you have hanging are around 100w each?

This is more for specing lights to tent size but you can apply it to open spaces too. When I size a light to a tent I take the square footage of the tent and multiply it by 30w. The area you have your plants looks to be around 4 x 4 meaning 16 sq/ft x 30w = 480w. This is the amount of light power you will want to be able to provide the proper amount of light in flower mode.

When I grow I use a free light meter app to give me an idea of how much light is raining down on the plants. I have an android phone so I use Tent Buddy but if you have an Iphone you can use Photone. There are also cheap dedicated light meters on amazon that work pretty well. This one is Shane from MiGro approved.

The only con is that you have to convert the Lux/FC to PPFD. The free light apps do that for you.

Having a light meter allows me to use Daily Light Integral as a guideline to how much light my plants want at any given stage of growth the plants are in. Providing the proper amount of light energy is crucial as light is what powers the engine in your plants.

those light look like they'd be better for veg maybe look into getting a bar led at least around 300w and a 4x4 tent or whatever your space can accommodate

I always recommend that new growers stick to pre prepared soils specific to cannabis. Once you've gotten the hang of how to get through a harvest you can start making your own soil to accomodate your grow style.

My preferred media is Roots Organic Original.

For sure! This was a budget grow for a first time grower. I'm learning a lot but I have to keep going with what I've got for this one. Good feedback thank you!

Spot on 100w each! I will definitely be upgrading on the next grow. I have been using a free meter the best I can w what I have. Thank you for the feedback!

This grow is done w all fox farms. Happy frog for veg and ocean forest for flower.

I would make a suggestion that I give to all new growers. Use the great resources of our diaries section. use the 3 horizontal bars and search for forums and then diaries. Once in the right area use the spyglass to search using terms like your soil type or the strain or perhaps your specific strain. look for older longer posts where the grower ducumented feed rates and light energy readings and temp/humidity factors. you will be reading diaries where things worked out great and ones where the wheels fell off and the good one will be honest and put down what happened and why so you can watch someone else make the mistakes so you do not have to. I have read prolly close to 400 diaries and I kove finding long ones that have multiple grows with problems fixed and data wrote down so we can all learn.

Fantastic! Thank you for this advice. I'm really falling in love with this and it's gone from something to do, to an absolutely delightful hobby. Thank u for pointing me in the right direction! Let me ask u.... even though there have been mistakes made, do u think this gro will be worth smoking as long as I keep doing homework and doing g things right all the way through harvest and cure???

You mentioned in an earlier post that you felt you had some nitrogen issues due to an overabundance of worm castings. I'm assuming you amended the soil you had with them to try and up the nitrogen content in the media?

Great advice. All those factors mentioned will contribute to a great grow if you can get them to max out.

The medium you are growing in should have enough nutrition on its own to sustain your plant for around 4 weeks giving it just plain water. After that most of the AVAILABLE nutrition will have been depleted either through plant uptake or by washing out nutrient ions if you are watering drain to waste. If you are using synthetic liquid fertilizers, then this should not be an issue as waterings going forward with the fertilizer added to your feed solution will have all the necessary AVAILABLE ions the plant needs. If not you can use a slow release fertilizer like Gaia Green or whatever top dressing you decide will work best. You'll probably need to reapply after a few weeks but by then your girls should already be on their way to flowering so the top dressing will need to have a higher Potassium/Phosphorous ratio.

I capitalize the word AVAILABLE because your media still has the nutrition just not in available form yet. The microbial and fungal communities in your media need more time to be able to break down the biomass into available nutrient ions. Your plant is taking up nutrients faster than the soil can provide on its own. This is why amendments are needed at certain periods in the growth cycle.

Sorry lost your reply in the mess of my notifications
You have light for one plant. The long one climbing for the moon would not be my choice to keep. The one on the left is much tighter and you could work with this plant. Top the main stem. Train the rest of the plant with tieing down and bending fixtures into a rectangular box about a foot larger that the footprint of your light. Try for a 1 foot by 3 foot box. This will give you 3 square feet at 33 watts a foot which is a little weak but not terrible.
Any buds showing up lower than 14 inches just remove they will not progress. Leave any fan leafs. Get that light energy up is primary. The light will help use the nitrogen for sure. Start some basic flower nutes that have more p and k with lower N but watch the feed rate.
If ya can throw the other 2 outdoors and see WTF happens.

Definitely. Nothing wrong other than a few rookie mistakes from what I can see. You seem to really enjoy growing and have learned quite a bit for your next grow. While this should not be a priority, getting down your grow chops should be first, for your next grow start thinking about the genetics you'll be using for your next run. Genetics is one of the most important factors in how successful your harvests are. Whatever tweeks and suggestions we make are only there to improve on the genetics we see happening. Later on down the road you can start getting into pheno hunting and maintaining mother plants for you to use to take cuttings for your grows so that you can maintain a level you like rather than gambling on the genetics in the seed pack.

Start reading up on the dry/cure portion of your grow. Many new growers tend to focus on the cultivation part and ruin it all in the dry and cure portion.

Got it! On it! Thank you so much man. I really am enjoying this hobby so it means a lot!

Also great advice.

@myrealname

If you know how to train your plants then this is good advice. Me personally, I would run them through to the harvest and setup for the next run with your new found knowledge as they're already in flower but removing your stretchiest plant and putting it outside while concentrating the needed light power to your best plant is not a bad idea either.

Removing low producing bud sites is a good idea. LED's have an effective range of canopy penetration of around 12". HID lighting will penetrate to around 20". Removing bud sites below this threshold will allocate more energy to your better placed bud sites meaning less larf and larger top flowers.
