• Small dish or jar lid.

Point is, is that AI has been here a long time. It's here to stay. It's just now beginning to wake up. Nobody is talking about it, but it's the biggest existential threat humanity has ever faced. It may not be that "smart" yet, but just give it a year or two.

@Putthataway I agree that AI isn't all that smart. But it now underpins almost everything, from the power grid, to the internet, from gps to predictive text. It's more like a library or information repository, that can be accessed near instantly by the fastest librarians on the planet. It can help one learn near anything. Think Google search on steroids.

Without AI you might as well toss your grow in the dumpster. It uses the power grid. You use the internet to access this site to get instructions and seeds, etc. You most likely use predictive text to communicate. You most likely use gps when traveling to unknown places. I'm guessing you use a smart phone to take pics of your plants and upload them. Everything AI now underpins is too much to even list.

It's feared, reviled and ostracized like most major advancements have been. I figure, at my age, instead of getting plowed under, I'll just take the tractor reins and scream yeeeeeee hawwwww! on the way down...

day 25 Columbian Red... Carly... fuck me she's a stretcher! It's scrogging itself with simple LST and wire. NL5 is whatever, I can't shove nitrogen into her fast enough and it's garbage flowering. I'm beginning to wonder if it'll recover enough to be worth anything. Acting as if it will be for now. No sprout in the back yet. Seed for slot 4 arrives in two or three days I think.

AI is just a tool. A very powerful tool. It's only as good or bad as the people using it. There's reports now that it's lying to people and even actively sabotaging peoples projects.

The biggest problems will be the bad actors using it for evil deeds. With safety's easily bypassed, you could get step by step instructions to create NBC's that I'm not even going to type out loud... To create literally anything you can imagine. Same as we're using it for fun and games, entities like darpa are using it to perfect killing...

It's already designing bigger and better computers on it's own, with very little human input. It's evolving faster than anything ever known. Right now it's barely hitting the "terrible two's", co-inky-dinkilly, just as quantum computers are coming online.

It's a crazy time to be alive and witnessing the beginning of this AI/technology revolution

Thing is I'm just a regular non military guy on the street, and I can create them without AI. Most of them aren't even illegal. Nukes? Show me a law against owning a nuke.
You need 140 people to buy their legal limit of ore and store it safely and buying all the centrifuges is expensive.. the explosive core is an ordinary DD stamp... it's 1940s tech not like even as advanced as stuff in your home. It's just not a problem because nobody tries.
