Week 6 Veg:
Removed bottom three sets of leaves last week to enable better airflow and watering. She smells real nice but not quite the usual OG smell I'm used to. This may change in time. Will be vegging until Nov 1 when I will SCROG her out and turn her to 12/12 stay tuned to see if EGS have done the great breeding job I suspect they have.

As a beginner I've been having good luck with OG Kush from HGC. Right now I have one inside that has gone crazy in a 5 gal bag on a vivosun self-watering base. It stretched and got thick and tall way faster than I could have anticipated and then outgrew my light. I did a radical chop on it but it still went crazy and it's over 7 ft tall! I'll be careful to keep indoor plants in better check next time with topping, trimming and training.

Outdoors I had one that struggled in a dark 5 gallon bucket until I got some good advice here to wrap something around the bucket. I went a step further and used a towel which I could then spray with water and a mister out here in the hot, dry, desert climate. It responded well and has reached for the sky much like the indoor one.

Hi Greg,
OG Kush is renowned for tripling and sometimes even more (depending on Genetics) on the stretch (after the light flip). Topping is crucial to maintaining a semblance of control over them when they do this. In fact, I will often top on the same day as I turn them to 12/12 to semistunt them and keep them in control. As you can see even with lots of light up close this fast version is STILL very leggy. Topping and ScroG is where i intend to take this. Although i might just put her out in November because as she is fast genetics the change of light to 13.5hrs will trigger her to flower and sungrown OG is always best hehe. I guess what dictates that decision is how much room i have in my tent come Nov 1 after i put a bunch of my plants outside. Nice to touch base Greg!

Yeah I'm new here and pretty much new to growing so it's been a lot of fun and there's so much to learn!

I'm growing a couple of OG kush photos myself and I did not know this, sounds wild man! But will surely keep that in mind, don't want them to get too big for the tent.

Good luck on your grow man! 🤠

I'm new here too; this is my third day. You're welcome to stop by any time you have questions. I may have only been here a few days, but I've 30+years of experience indoors and outdoors growing. So I've come across most things at one stage or another. However, I do struggle with some insect identification and damage from different countries.

Howzit Randyy! Nice to meet you. Yea i blew out my room the first time i grow OG Kush from Blimburn, which i have to say absolutely NAILS the true Ocean Grown Kush flavour with a perfect blend of the dawg, Pakistani kush and Lemon Thai...its got the Pinene high notes AND limonene, which is different as limonene usually wins the high note position, but with this its nestled just under the Pinene. It's then wrapped in the muskiest, earthiest Myrcene afterblast that will have you smacking your lips moreishly after every puff, right to the dust at the bottom of the jar. I thought I'd try EGS OG Kush Fast Version because why not? And 55 days (though I'll probably still run it to 60) is crazy good for OG, which is known for really bulking in the last week. As a grower, I just want to watch that vigour unfold before my eyes....although this pheno presents close to what I expect from a kush, the terps aren't quite there. That may be a maturity thing, and it might come through as it flowers. But its missing the high Pine note others like Blimburn have nailed perfectly! We shall see how she goes. Im defoliating those ridiculously large leaves off in the next update. That should let the light through better. See you then and thanks for stopping by.

My OGK, which is outdoor, stretched 2.5 times the original height. She’s 10-12’ tall. Great genetics! One of them specifically I have cut a few clones off of for a mother plant.
Best of luck! Keep us updated. Btw when they were in veg they seemed awfully smallish, then Boom!!!💥
Another 2 weeks and she’s coming down!

2.5x is standard OGK business. It looks great man, if it was me id give it another 21 days approx, around the new moon. Lunar gardening traditions suggest harvesting during the waning phase or close to the New Moon, when the pull is lower. The general idea is that the essential oils, nutrients, and water content might be more concentrated in the roots or lower parts of the plant, potentially giving you a smoother, more flavorful final product. OG really pumps up the volumn in the last ten days so yea my advice would be wait til the New Moon bro. Hope it helps. This kush looks real nice man..

I appreciate it. It’s been a staple strain for us for about 10 years now. I love it!!

Yeah, smell and taste is awesome, it's the primary reason I chose to grow OG kush! I'm growing seeds from a Danish breeding company, never used them before, but so far I am not disappointed. Will have to wait till harvest to really know, obviously. 🙂

This is what they look like. They are almost two months from seed. Soaked them on 7th July so they are a bit older than yours and I don't intent to veg them for as long as you. You will get a monster if you veg all the way to November man!!

But yeah, keep on posting man, I'll keep on lurking hehe 🤠

These are looking great, Randy! If they are from the Dutch Passion seed company, you are onto a winner! They look consistent and should produce really well.

Week 7 veg:
Isn't she nice looking? Can not wait to put this specimen in the ground in eight weeks' time. Smelling kushy so far, so that's promising. Setting her up to be a real big girl, what do you think I should do to maintain this awesome growth? I'll be transplanting her in approx 3 wks into a 12L pot, and then I have to decide if I keep her inside and flip her, or put her outside and let her flip herself, as she is fast. The 13 hours I'll be planting her out into will trigger flowering. Great and all, but if I do put her outside, I think that means the buds will be a bit fluffy as opposed to the lumps I'll get by keeping on strict 12/12. I've definitely got some thinking to do.

Looking very good man! Awesome green growth and some nice fat leaves is always a good sign of a healthy plant.

What should you do to maintain that growth?! I would say just keep doing what you are doing, it is obviously working great! And as you mention yourself, make sure to transplant it into a bigger pot so it won't be limited by the size of the roots. I used to grow in 11L pots and now I am using 25L because I am going for 4 plants in a 4x4 tent instead of 9. Maybe this is just a matter of genetics, the sample size is too small to say anything definitively, but the growth I had after I switched to 25L is insane, so maybe pot size is more important than I used to think or maybe not?! Either way, that would be my advice if you wanna go for a really big plant, then go for a really big pot too.

I have never grown anything outside, so can't really give any comments on that.

The seeds I grow myself is from a company called SubSeed, so it is not from Dutch Passion. However, I do have some White widow in the flowering tent right now from Dutch passion going on week 10. Can't say I had much luck with them in terms of germination rate, but the ones that did germinate sure is doing good. 🤠

woohoo that's triggering old timey memories. So frosty..i can taste the first draw already..yum. Love White Widow. Shame about the hit rate on the beans though.
So if I keep her inside, I'll be putting her in a 50L fabric pot with the same soil, but I'm thinking that's going to take up so much room, I may yet be forced to put her outside. Seems you have the indoor game pretty much on lock, their brother Randyy (hot, hot, hot hawt hawwt !)

Yeah exactly man, the good old strains brings me back, it was a different time back then.

50L thats is one hell of a big ass pot! That will surely do the trick. How big is the tent you grow in if you decide to stay indoors? And what kind of light are you using?

I've been looking at those fabric pots and wondering if I should maybe try them out at some point. Have you noticed any difference between fabric pots and plastic pots? People say that the roots can more easily absorb oxygen, but you know people talk and I'm wondering if there is actually any noticeable difference between the two kinds of pots?!

Yeah I think I finally got the indoor growing style nailed down. It did take a lot of trial and error. I will say that switching from HPS light to LED really was a gamechanger. I used to have so many problems with heat and the LED's fixed that for me.

I miss Silver Pearl a lot and it seems even Sensi seeds dont have it anymore..treachery it is! Im using two 450w Quantum PAR LED boards set up in the second largest AC Infinity tent (would have been the largest but im limited to where i can fit it on my property without it being suspicious.) I may yet move up to two Spider Farmer or Mars Hydro 600w LEDs..see how we go on that as im super happy with what i have currently, though i could get away with adding about 250w more overall. I use 50l for my autos too, they work well and very rarely get root bound at that size. Thye work awesome because they "air prune" the roots meaning you get really tight rootballs withn hairroots that fill every space, instead of say whats happeniing with my girls in plastic pots, where the roots hit the plastic and head down the outside of the soil and straight down trying to get out at the bottom. With fabric pots the root reaches the air and dies working like topping does with the plant itself. So you get better root growth overall, therefore better growth in fabric pots. Ill update photos of the rootballs on the autofowers in a week or two and you can see what i mean. Ive only chosen plastic currently for my young plants to ease the transplanting later on. Plastic pots are super easy to transplant from but fabric can be a nightmare to transplant from. Hope that helps man.

I never hear of Silver Pearl?! Please don't shoot me lol 😁

Sounds like you got a pretty solid setup! It would be very cool to see a comparison - in terms of overall quality and yield - between the lights you got right now and the 600w lights in case you get em. I got 420w LED in my flower tent and I'm not sure how much better it would be to upgrade, especially since there is a considerable price gap from what I got to an upgrade.

About them fabric pots, it sounds very interesting what you say about them. A big and healthy root system equals awesome buds and a heavy harvest, so I think I will just have to try them out at some point. Thank you it sure did help! 🤠

Ahh, the Silver Pearl! Skunk #1 (the real one) x Early Pearl x Northern lights! Weird spindly thing with very few leaves when flowering and oddly dispersed silvery nugs. They shine like a silverfern leaf in the moonlight..shimmery thing and so so strong. May have been the original couch lock for me, which i need to medicate effectively. Couple hits of that id be enabled for half a day, now im sitiing around smoking all day just to keep the keel straight.
