Hey farmers,

I’m just planning on my next phase which will be harvesting around Mid November and just formulating a plan of action. Haven’t dealt with PM this year thank goodness but have been battling with little caterpillars. Been using holistic sprays but feel like the bud will need a good wash. Has anyone tried this before. What are something’s to look out for? I was thinking about two buckets: both with ph balanced water but any type of solution I should use? Thanks all!

There are many recipes for bud washing, just do a google search. Most involve H2O2. I personally hate bud washing, in my experience it kills the terps and gives the buds a weird texture, I can tell when it has been done, but sometimes it is necessary.

Get yourself 2 tall plastic kitchen garbage cans cheap ones. 1 for solution 1 for rinse and hang in dry well ventalated area with a fan.

Yep not a fan of it either whenever I've tried.

I have been washing my outdoor grows for years and have never noticed any difference in the final product. It's no different than the plant getting rained on shortly before harvest. 1st 5 gall. bucket with 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, 2nd bucket with 1 cup lemon juice and 1 cup baking soda ( the acid and the base combine to make a natural astringent) , and all sites I've read agree you need 2 rinse buckets for a total of 4 buckets. Cut the branches the right length to swish around in the buckets easily. Afterwards hang the branches in front of a fan on low for an hour or so until dry. Then dry as you normally would. I have even started washing my indoor grows without the h2o2 bucket just to get most of the cat hair off. Like I said, no difference in the final product.

Rain does not have H2O2, baking soda, or lemon juice in it. Like I said, my experience has been it kills the terpenes and gives the buds a weird texture. Unless it is needed for bugs debris or spray residue I won't do it. If it works for you that's cool!

only had a couple outdoor grows and washed. i used lemon juice and baking soda only, wash, rinse, rinse and dry with a fan on them but keep a close eye on them until not wet.
then dry as usual. shaking the buds to remove water also helps.
trichomes are not water soluble so washing does NOT affect thc or terps

    When bud washing, baking soda is used with lemon juice to clean dried cannabis flowers. While proponents claim it doesn't harm potency or flavor, the potential damage to fragile trichomes containing cannabinoids and terpenes is a significant risk, especially with improper washing technique.
  • Maybe I have been doing it wrong ,but I don't think so

I wouldn't try it on dried flower, only freshly harvested plants

actually rain does have peroxide in it,.

I have had success against flying bugs by putting venus fly traps and pitcher plants in my room.
