I would say once you're 40% Amber, I would cut and hang. Then you will get your 80%
Sounds about right. Usually wait till the plant is tucking/retracting it's stigma back into bracts, the plant is milky all over with about 30-40% amber.

i reckon retracting stigma is usually a good sign. If the plant has decided it's no longer viable far pollination it's not far off.
 
Once you cut an hang, Keep the in 12/12 fer 48 hours, because they are still burning nutrients that need to be used up

When peeps cut an dry they make the mistake of direct dark. The cells of the stalk are still converting.

Have never tried that tbh but it makes sense. I usually do the old "let her dry out in the pot for a few days" and then hang.

Sometimes the plant still looks alive after hang and lights off for a good day or two and it spins me out.
