update #2

near as i can tell it seems to taste maybe like ................. chili pepper..................... not sure if that's even possible.........................................................
delivers a mild burning sensation to the throat and nose. also has a dense lunge effect i imagine due to the heavy layer of trichomes. cough inducing lung saturation when inhaled........

can't say it's what i would look for in a bud.......................................... i think i mentioned last time it is a creeper buzz...................... starting to feel it build. hmmmmmmmmmm

Very Confusing............

finally, update #1

a very subdued buzz. smoked a whole pin joint. i would say it's a mood enhancer. gave me a feeling of well being, calming. still has a very notable fruity smell but the taste has diminished a bit. while smoking the taste is not as pronounced as it was at this point it leaves a lingering taste in the mouth very reminiscent of fruit punch after being smoked.

while i have always considered the overpowering dumbing down aspect of a cannabis buzz as my reference of means i have to admit i'm starting to appreciate the lesser overpowering affects of these different qualities with this grow. i really like this bud, more so than the #2 because it is has more flavor/smell, but given the heavier effect of #3's buzz i would consider #3 my favorite.
Most definetely! I certainly dont want to be smoking a 30% thc strain every day all day. I still remember when I went nuts and I planted 8 Amnesia Haze, very good genetics, cant remember shit of those months. I never thought I would think that but yes, I needed a chill strain and since then I never plant only 1 strain unless its Runtz. Im glad youre satisfied with the results, thats all that matters in the end! Seems like its getting better and better since your second grow too!

Leaves can be spicy, specially if theyre brownish. That could also be the reason of the smoke being a bit harsh but it shouldnt mess with the potency as long as the yellow/brown doesnt make it to the bud! You can also take extra time to get rid of the inside leaves of the bud before smoking that one if you dont like the spicyness and the cough. If you still cough after removing the leaves, watch out when you crack a nug and see if its brown inside, then its botrytis. Many times cant be seen from the outside because most of the times it goes from the inside of the bud to the outside and if its only a little bit it might not make it to the outside of the bud before harvest.

Also getting an herb vaporizer helps a ton with harsh weed as youre not burning the vegetal matter but rather vaporizing the THC and terpenes. I personally vaporize at 165ºC which is when the THCa is converted into THC (160ºC). You can also vape it at 180ºC-200ºC for more cannabinoids. Usually 160ºC gives a head buzz and 180ºC+ gives a more relaxing sensation unless its really high in THC. Another good gadget you could get is a hash shaker, theyre small, fit in your palm, you put the weed inside with 2 washed coins (I wash them with alcohol, they become odorless and harmless) and then to the freezer for a few hours. After that you can shake shake for a few minutes and smoke the kief which will give you the taste of the strain without the leaves messing with the flavor. You can smoke the kief or if youre feeling fancy do some hash, its really easy.
Whenever I have a plant that doesnt taste how I want I just smoke the kief or if I dont like it either I make it hash and the flavor of the strain dissapears and tastes like blonde hash. An easy way to get a joint of hash if youre kief is very dry and refuses to stick together is licking your fingers and then grabbing the kief, that will give you a darker hash with a taste more similar to charas than blonde hash. If you wanna make it in a bigger scale you only need oven paper and something to flatten it, theres plenty of guides online if you want one let me know.

i usually remove any prominent leaves when i smoke. i have decided to leave the larger leaves on the bud to help protect the inner bud. those i won't smoke but the smaller leaves i will leave on unless i feel they degrade the smoke when i'm burnin. good to know about the botrytis, i try to be observant of any negative attributes when i roll a joint. i always break the bud by hand and study it as i go. i like to play with my food 🙃🥹🤔🤗🤗.

i would agree as to the vape but when i had a vape pen it always killed the taste of the bud. i would say the plant leaves more of a burning sensation as opposed to harshness. not really that harsh so it's ok. the hash thing to me is a nice idea as i love the taste of blonde or red hash but i find hash really is hard on my lungs. near as i can tell it's likely a higher degree of oils coating my lungs, weed that has a high density of trichomes tends to affect me the same way.

i have to admit i prefer a strong buzz but given the haphazard way i am going about things i can't complain. #3 is my favorite as it has the strongest buzz and taste. i would consider #2 my least favorite as the most important thing to me is taste and it isn't as strong in that department as the others but it has a decent buzz. #1 would be a failure if the taste wasn't as pronounced, even if the taste is after i smoke it but i gotta say i love the taste. i can accept the buzz as it is unique.

given the way grow 2 & 3 went i would agree that things are going better but i would say that the high points of the previous grows were more pronounced in some of the plants that did well. at least all of the plants were good this time aside from the oregon grape that turned out male. i would consider the trouble i had with this grow likely contributed to the high points in this grow being less substantive. i'm not sure if the cali sally plant will end up being female at this point. the first one i transplanted that had initial flower that looked female ended up being male. the initial flowers looked more like female but after a week or two they fattened up showing a more rounded as opposed to a tapered profile and they started to develop the traditional stem extending them from their placement. i did replace it with another that didn't have a definitive flower structure as one of the 2 left was showing what i could only consider male. it is very likely the one i did end up replacing may very well end up being male which woud mean that all 3 of them were male and a waste of time. i should have used the oregon grape seeds. i think i would have at least had 1 female out of 3 plants.

given i am confined to 4 plants i hate messing with seeds that may end up male. on the positive side every grow with the seeds i developed have indeed all been female which is outstanding. the one critical issue is the lack of having a few male flowers to produce more female seeds. the earlier grows had shown a few but i didn't do anything with them.

not sure if this works but i plan to try it

Ph test

Nice to see you back at it again! Theyre looking good, if anything I can see some burnt edges on some leaves, maybe the compost was too acidic or you used too much? Im not sure but Im happy to see that theyre overall healthy.

well, it ain't all over until the fat lady has a heart attack. got my fingers crossed. 🙏🙃

just came across this source for ph. not sure how accurate it is.

Probably fairly accurate but I dont think it will turn the water too acidic with the dosage you need, I never had to ph up when I added molasses but it never hurts to check.
Also love that bud pic! Looks very appealing.

wasn't planning on using the molasses for ph correction. was looking up what the ph of various veg matter was in case it was helpful as a info resource when i came across the web site.

i am adding mild amounts of brewed coffee and vinegar. hopefully enough to slowly drop the ph to at least 7. with the water ph being high here and the compost being a third of the growing medium i figured it would be a good idea.

ps... did another couple ph tests on different batches of the compost............. the water soil mix turned to a cloudy mess. no way to determine what the ph was. back to considering the test kit as a pool water tester for the most part.

What did you use? The droplets? If so you need to drain the water from the substrate after its been there for a bit. I have a similar problem because since I use organic nutes the water turns brown so you cant really see the color unless you put the tube against white light and because Im already used to it but I wanna get a good ph pen when I can. The droplets are accurate and cheap but sometimes its hard to tell.

yeah i used the drops.
i tried holding the vial against a light but was too cloudy.

i tried letting it sit for a bit but it didn't help. likely i'll have to let it sit for quite a while then try to seperate the liquid to test it.
