Considering HPS. Am I being crazy?

There's a comercial still using High powered bulbs (MH and HPS), I used to find a 600w perfect for a 1.5 x 1.5 x 2m tent with an 8 pot Wilma to be perfect, but to deal with the heat I would use a 10 inch extractor, a 6 inch would do the job but that's at full power all the time where with a 10 inch you can run it slower and plus you have a bigger filter.View attachment 2552319

No that's what I used to use in one of my tents, I had 4 setup each one at different stages so I got an income every month

Because of the heat in such a small space get at least a controllable 8 inch fan and a short carbon filter, what height have you got as you will need to stick it high as the 1 plant will be huge

Hps is only one design a small lamp.your box is wide you can buy led bars and get same ppfd across whole box

It's cool. That warehouse grow is impressive.
The 4x2 would be SOG, so maybe 10 small plants.
The tent would be 6ft tall.

You will only fit 2 plants in a 4x2ft footprint my man

That is just over 1ft apart in a 1 Gallon pot, so maybe 4 in 4.4L/1 Gallon pots would be cool but personally I would do two plants in bigger pots and use a 200w rectangle panel. I'm just thinking an HPS will just cook your plants, chat was being weird I couldn't press reply

Something like that, the high price is because it a premium brand, you could pic up a decent one for £100 or even cheaper on eBay if you get a 2nd hand or ex display model.

The HPS is dimmable from 250w to 600w. Would that not be enough?
How long have those plants vegged for? What height are they?

They ate Auto my man, that one started to pre flower at around 3 weeks of proper Vedge so 5 weeks from popping the seed, I've got an unknown one one the Sativa side still stretching and it's a few inches shorter than the flowering one and I've got a Titan F1 around a week into proper Vedge.

Just pointing out that they have got that big under 100w (and a couple of low power 18w bulbs for seedlings on the edge)

That AC Infinity 225w rectangle board il be buying on Monday.

Thats how small and cowboy my setup is so I probably should get a 50cm x 100cm x 180cm tent also and I will have to get a bigger extractor. I know the wardrobe looks empty but I've not hung my washing up yet lol......worse than a bird for clothes, I had to buy that rack as I had no room to put them anywhere........told you I go off topic a lot

On average when you flip or autos turn to flower they will grow by 2 thirds, so if it's flipped at 30cm expect it to reach around 90cm, that's just an average and not a rule and depends on genetics, Sativas can go much much much taller lol

i have run a 400 with a cool tube for years , in a 2x4 tent
i dont run in summer months though because of heat , the cool tube works great hooked to a fllter and fan , i have heard the arguments over led and hid lighting , dont be fooled about led being cooler , i fell for it and 2 400 led lights was hotter than my cool tube.
with my hid 400 it works out perfect growing bush in the small tent
ive run 6 plants and 4 plants in the small space ,yet i get more yield with two bush
led beam straight down and hid reflectes off inside of tent better in my opinion ive never had to side light the hid
honestly friend ,buy what your budget can give you this medicine grows in a crack behind the local bar
so you will get what you put into it
good luck though ,lesson here is start out small learn all the quirks of growing , then expand when you fell your talent can
if mars hydro wants to send me a light for a 2x4 footprint tent i would be glad to accept the challenge of proving me wrong
i just put a train wreck and a white blaze in paper towels this morning also put a quick one auto from royal seeds in soil two days ago

Yeah those cool tube reflectors are something he can look at, plus there only around 40 quid, I've never used them but heard good things.

Im with the guy who found LEDs just as hot as HPS, what I found to despite people saying they were a lot cooler and same light output same heat almost.

i love it, if i wasnt a hard head locked in the 60's i would upgrade to a 600 , folks do take out the glass on the cool tube , i dont because in my state we have no spring and winter is two weeks of 30 degree weather , the rest is either triple digit or 90's so the cool tube comes in very handy for expelling the heat

i hook a filter on one end and my exhaust fan on the other end bring the temp down sucking heat a smell across the bulb and out of tent
