Hello all! Im a totally new grower from clinton county ny. We have extremely short outdoor season up here and my plan is to only grow outdoor. I have a family of 4(myself included) so our home is totally utilized. Good thing im not a heavy user.

I havent been in the weed game in over 10 years(before the state legalized it). In that time I held jobs that required drug screening(one of which was a state agency that gave me ptsd). Which is why I use now is to help with my symptoms of ptsd.

My family leads a busy life without 2 young kids that love the game of soccer so much they play it year around(and oldest is in 2 programs year around)

I've never grown before(but have veggies) so I have a ton to learn. Ive tried looking up information online. But when reading articles it doesn't dumb it down for completely green growers so I get lost trying to understand things.


If there is a local to me person that is willing to in person coach me...someone I can trust preferably it'd be much appreciated.

I also am trying to do this and continue to do it in a sense where it's cheap to free. Already have ideas to make it as cost effective as possible.

I am not local to you, but I would be willing to help with your grow knowledge and get you up and running. Some questions; are you planning on doing an outdoor grow in a greenhouse? Or are you going to be starting in the spring? What type of strains are you going to grow? Sativa or Indica? Have you thought about nutrients? Do have neighbors that are close to you? (Smells from weed) I look forward to helping you with your garden.

I plan on doing total outdoor grow with no greenhouse. And only nutrients i thought of what the stuff in my compost pile as it has rabbit and chicken poo and i can mix in my neighbors compost as well which has duck, cow and horse poo in it. I live out in the country so smell isn't much of an issue. I cant remember if the seeds i have are sativa or indica dominant or if they're a hybrid. I also cant seem to find that strain anywhere online now. Its a humbolt seeds brand. And I still have to contact NASC to see if they have any info on the photo house seed freebie as I didnt get any info on it. My idea was to sprout/germinate then plant them directly into the pot they will be harvested out of.

Sounds like you have a base. What I would recommend is to get some nutes that are specific to weed as you are going to want to be able to monitor them as they go in and the run off as they come out of your pots. Not to sure if the poo you are planning to use will contain all of the essential ingredients for weed. As far as not using a greenhouse. You are going to in sort of limbo period right now being the fact that we are headed into the winter. I would suggest getting your pots and your soil picked out. I would recommend Fox Farm soil. Plan on starting your seeds around March or April depending upon what spring thaw looks like in your neck of the woods. Sprout your seeds in a damp paper towel until they sprout. I usually put them in Root Riot cubes to germinate. Then take them right into their forever home. I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you have any questions as you go through this process.

Our last frost in our area is in early may on average(usually about 15th). I forgot to mention that also in the compost is grass clippings and some like pumpkin and veggie plants and veggies that weren't harvested in time or ravaged by animals.

Chicken poo is rich in nitrogen, Phosphorous and potassium.



All the other animals are basically the same. With little side benefits not exactly related to nutrition value to the plants themselves but along the lines of say natural herbicide.

I can absolutely supplement with a bag of say fox farm but can't justify going solely with that as my soil medium when i have nutrient rich compost in my own back yard. Unfortunately because of my kids active lifestyles i dont have too much of an ability to babysit with a greenhouse all that much nor do i have good natural lightning locations in my house(along with the fact of keeping it away from my kids, dogs and cats)

I've use to grow in soil with composeted chicken and horse manure. Unfortunately it lacks a lot of nutrients and needs to amended.

Get a good grow light to start seedlings beginning May indoors. They're not that expensive these days. After last frost plant outside.

With a quick growing season autos may work better for you as most are done in 90ish days but regulars will usually produce a lot more.

You've got a lot of time until grow season so dig in. Utilize the search bar and read everything you can. Ton of knowledge on these pages that will help you to be successful and there's always many here who have been there & done that ready and willing to helpšŸ˜‰

Thank you ill have to read up more tonight. Right now running my oldest to a 4h outing then indoor soccer practice immediately after. I also am still learning how to use this platform as it's formatted differently than forums ive used for other things in the past.

If you grow veggies you shouldn't have any problem growing weed. They have some specific needs, but are pretty similar to growing tomatoes. Get yourself a pest management plan if you haven't already. Outdoor weed growing is usually a battle against critters and, later in flower, critters and humidity. Autos might

When you say pest management are you talking animals or bugs or both lol

Neem oil, Jack's Dead Bug and Bt are my go to. Neem in vegg every week and even into the first couple weeks of flower. Jack's and Bt mid flower. I rotate every 5 days as we get bud worms (moth larvae) real bad.

All 3 have are organic, have a half life of 1-2 days and are easy to wash off. I sprayed a plant with neem 3 days before harvest, sprayed the plant morning of harvest with water, allowed to dry and no smell or taste of neemšŸ˜‰

Seriously? Do you grow outside? Moths lay their eggs ON THE FLOWERS. How are you going to defeat the bud worms??? They will destroy almost ALL the flowers on a plant. Yes, you spray the FLOWERS!

Have heard of netting this is a natural way to prevent moths from getting on your bud. Trust me you donā€™t want to smoke neem oil dude!
