I have 4 plants in their 9th week of flower. The trichomes are still clear so I have a decent amount of time before harvest.
My grow area is inside of a large room "envelope" and there is a lot of places air is circulating through the envelope so any smell is very diluted. This room is 600 SW ft with an eighteen foot ceiling. The grow area is in the upper rear/side corner FWIW. Still I feel like I should get smacked the face when I walk into the envelope. Is the aroma being that diluted?

What strains? There are strains that just don’t smell super crazyMy NL last run were caked up and thick with trichomes but had barely a hint of smell on her. I do believe NL has a low smell genetically. But it did trip me out too a bit. Then I smoked a joint of it after it cured…The Smokability was primo.. fuckin took me off my head too

Ok, I think I'll bag that idea :).
See what I did there?
I'll be here all week. 😁
Three are Maui wowie and one is a mystery from a seedling I was given.
Thanks

Depends on the strain. Do a stem rub. Thumb and finger gently rub the main stem a little and see if that produces a stronger smell. Smells can change as the plant matures. Some will reek some not so much. Depends on genetics and health of the plant. I like the fruity ones like Blueberry and the grape of GDP but any dank bud will turn my crank.

Grapes and berries🥰

Some plants just don't stink a whole lot. Some folks want that in a plant if they need to stay incognito. If you want a plant to produce stronger smells within its capability to do so, then feed your microbes and mycos and keep your temperatures down in the grow environment. Toward the last few weeks I'm only adding molasses and kelp. It's fertilizer for the symbiotic things that help your plant produce terpenes.

The cold, same happens in my winter grows. Right now I cant smell my weed but if I put my nose close they stink. With the cold the terpenes dont evaporate as much. Also might be strain related like ninja said but every winter I fall for the same "oh man this is not smelling as strong" then I remember its winter and Im fine again. (Its autumn still but we are under winter temperatures).

This is Maui Wowie and I chopped it yesterday. Very little smell/aroma.
Thanks

Give it some time. Can we see the buds? If there's nothing wrong with them a couple of weeks to 1 month of cure will do the job. At what temp are they drying? Because like I said, with the cold the terpenes dont evaporate so you cant smell it.

Just curious, what are the temps and humidity in there right now at week 9?

I can take a picture of the flowers today.
I have the flowers in brown paper leaf bags. The room is 60°F and the humidity is sitting around 60%. The bags are open at the top and I check them daily to move the flowers around the inside of the bag. I didn't break down the flowers into buds yet. I used paper bags on my first grow and the results was satisfactory. After drying I will cure for several weeks using humid packs.
Thanks

I chopped the plants.
Week 9 they were at 75 degrees and <45% humidity.
Thanks

They look nice to me, stems look healthy aswell. Some strains benefit a lot more from curing than others or maybe it had a problem during the last days in which she couldnt recover as many terpenes but I would go with the first one, give it some time it will smell again.

Not true, you just didn’t cure them long enough it messed up the drying. If done correctly the smell will be overwhelming with goodness.

Here is a typical bag with flowers. Hopefully drying. View attachment 2567109
Are you drying? If so why are you doing it in a bag with a humidity pack? That defeats the purpose. Also I read you were at 9 weeks of flower with temps of 75? That is why you have no smell, you are burning all the terps off. That temp should be MUCH lower!

Here is what my custom cannabis grow dice say (with preset interpretation readout):
Maui Wowie plant that should smell like a fruity tiki bar on a volcano
instead smells like “air”
roll grow dice
Nitrogen: too little
Other die: CHAOS MODE
friend.gif
Plant: “bro I didn’t have enough nitrogen to build the engine for those terpenes”
Also Plant: “and then something random happened to my soul”
Possible chaos hits:
– light cycle got janky for a few nights
– temps dropped into the 60s a little too often
– soil microbe party never started
– harvested a shade early because you weren’t impressed and wanted to be done
– phenotype was just “dude… I don’t do smells”
Nitrogen deficiency + chaos gremlin = aroma budget reduced to zero

Encouraging old-school take:
Low nitrogen late in flower is normal, but too little for too long plus environmental wobble can mute terps real fast. Maui Wowie wants warmth, steady feeding early, and consistent vibes — she’s a boomer strain who likes things “the way they used to be.”

Yes I am drying. I will remove the humidity packs. Thanks - I got confused as to if I use them for curing or drying and curing. I suppose drying may take longer with the packs? If that's the case I'm hoping it didn't make much difference.
I was at week 12 when I cut although I originally miscalculated and stated week 9.

I air dry for 10-12 days and then cure in a jar and that's where the packs should come in, I don't think they dry.

Do people believe glass jars are better than plastic? I used plastic 1 gallon last grow and the cured weed was amazing. Many I donated to want more and more. It's amazing how many friends you make when weed is what you have to offer.

Plastic degrades overtime soo there is a possibility your smoking microplastic. Other than that i would say no difference

Overtime you learn friends that have only smoking that holds you together are not a high quality
