So, any updates? You're about a month ahead of me, but I'm beginning to think two of my Northern Lights may take longer than advertised.
Update.
2 plants very poor condition and have stopped using water. Broad based nutrient deficiency from wet feet. Buds are small but well formed just very tiny. Another 2 weeks would finish them but I am not sure they have that much time.
2 plants very good condition. Still has many fan leafs present and very a few fading. These plants look 4 weeks out.
I have 2 plants doing good. Almost no fan leafs left but no fading on sugars and long buds runs filling in. These 2 plants look 3-4 weeks out.
I have 2 plants that are in ok condition. They are very squat and will not yield much but they both had the nitrogen fade caught early and are still very green and have just now started to fade. Both have flower runs much fatter that the rest of the plants. Yellow tips but green new growth.
And I have one ruderalis plant that is putting along looking like a ruderalis plant all swelled bracts and stringy.
Over the last 2 days I have gone over methodologies and plans and I have found where my problem lies.
2 major nutrition related situations.
The nutrition change I made going to Dr Earth Organic was a good plan poorly researched and implemented. It appears that Dr Earth has a cannabis feed schedule and I am following the schedule on the bags.
I used the 4 4 4 until preflower and then mixed in a sliding scale of flower girl at 3 9 4
At the same time I was amending like crazy with the EWC and the soil conditioner. As the fading started I increased the EWC and conditioners to the point where the soil composition was now way off and I am pretty sure this is what caused the root issues on the 2 bad plants.
If you pick up the plant and rock it left or right you can feel the difference in the soil from a well presenting plant. It feels like the center of gravity on the plant is much lower due to the weight being retained at the bottom of the pot.
In addition the EWC bag has a much lower nitrogen spec than my last bags of EWC. The gold from Ace was .065 and this stuff is .05 and I had no clue that EWC was made different.
This is the feed chart for cannabis. It starts with the homegrown and uses the 4 4 4 as an anytime amendment. It also uses another source of nitrogen support as well as a biome support addition.
I have followed a few guys on RIU but no longer use the site. I am convinced this nutrition is a good choice but like the foop I got schooled in running a feed chart and what happens when you deviate from the chart.
The OMG worse part?
The homegrown in the cannabis feed chart is readily available to me. It is in the same tote as all my nutrients. It has been my go to tomato food for years.
The organic parts of the grow they stipulate amending before you need them prolly will work better is used at feed rate. The feed rate for the cannabis chart and food/flowers chart is prolly double the nutrition than using the bag schedule. The only thing that saved me was the EWC and for the best 2 plants the success was due to almost all ocean forest and an early EWC load.
The second nutrition problem was the way my spread sheet utterly failed in tracking weight. I am so angry about this. My first setup had me with a preprinted sheet with each feeding getting the additions weighed and then tabulated by hand. I actually took the time to bring 2 glass 5 oz graduated classes to the same tare weight by bringing glass until they were .01 grams close. This would have had me doing the math adds for my pot tare weight every feeding. This was slow and I decided to uses Excel to help the process and it did not go as planned.
And now to my health. This was to much work. To many plants. I now am once again at a critical condition with my right side lower back spazzing out and cramping. This pain is back to 2001 levels where I had to drop technical work and went to teaching for 5 years. I'm sure it is the exact same spasms and soreness that started me with pain clinics. This pain has actually been better for 2 reasons. Number one is the lower muscles in my back are nothing but scar tissue. They would spasm but the pain did not last long because the muscles were just scar tissue. The other reason is that one of the procedures I had done was called a nerve ablation where they literally use DC current to burn the nerve out. This was a good 2 year break in the chain until the pain receptors rewired and now the pain is back but in a different level of my spine. I always know this was possible and my guess is I will be looking at another nerve ablation unless it is to close to the ciatica nerve.
Plan right now is to do what I can when I can. Soon as possible I am going to move the banned plants into the main tent and move the very poor plants into the 31x31 as these are now a possible disease vector.
I have bought some Alaska
Fish Shit and have used that for nitrogen support instead of the weak EWC as there is to much in the pots messing up the weight.
Will get the other 2 components of the Dr Earth Cannabis schedule for use with my photo grow of 4 plants.
Just 4. 5 gallon pots. No autos in the 31x31
