Going to make some changes today. Fuck this ocean forest shit. I am not to feed synthetics and it seems they are out of juice already. Going to put the big left rear of biker lemon one in 10 gallon with the duke blend build a soil. I am going pull the middle one in front of the world’s slowest growing seedling and stick it in the bikers 5 gallon pot. I think the Cinderella x okie is a boy so I am on the fence about using the expensive bas.I am going to nab that right rear and put it in a ten gallon. Depending on how much soil I have left will move from there. I certainly don’t have space for more than 4 ten gallon pots. I ordered two more bags. I also grabbed 10 gallons of r.o water. I brought a sample of my tap water a few days apart and they tested at 8 and 8.3. They have had excessive chlorine twice within the last year and then ecoli. Last year it was 7. I am going to put that seedling that won’t grow in a pot. Thinking about putting it my disaster soil remeamend. It’s not going into expensive dirt and I don’t think the good dirt would be good anyway because it says grown plants.

Today is Cider day. The past couple years I've been making cider once the weather cools. No special tools or equipment are needed and within 2 weeks you'll have some fine tasting cider.

During the summer months I buy apple juice when it's on sale and no need to buy the expensive brands. $2-3 a gallon is my price point. Now the grape and pear are gonna run $7+ a gallon but well worth the cost and are my favorites. I saw Aldi is selling pear juice at $3.50 half gallon.

When the average price of cider is $12 a 6 pack I'm making my own for pennies on the dollar and I know what's in it

I use a wine/champagne yeast, Lalvin EC1118

It only takes a pinch per gallon and one package lasts me a season as once the yeast is actively growing an ounce of finished or even starting cider is plenty to start the next batch.

Sugar. Plain 'ol cane sugar at 2/3 cup per gallon, melted in 16 ounces of water. I do use bottled water as tap has chemicals to kill bacteria and yeasts.

2 weeks aging produces a cider in the 6-7% ABV range and still has some fruit flavor. 4+ weeks produces a nice table wine at about 12 ABV.

I make what I've dubbed a Solera style of cider making as I never remove all the cider and then replace it with new juice and sugar to keep the process going, like the way Sherry is made.

Solera is a process for aging liquids such as wine, beer, vinegar, and brandy, by fractional blending in such a way that the finished product is a mixture of ages, with the average age gradually increasing as the process continues.

I'll do a step by step later today for anyone interested

I haven't, but there's a reason. I like the flavor and like to back sweeten which lowers the AVB. I like it, I like to drink it. I can't drink hard liquor like that or I'll pass out and I understand the hangovers are brutal. Too old for that these days I use to drink beer, loved it but when it hit $2 a bottle in a 12 pk or even a case I said fk that

And they add shit that may not be very good for us and yeah, other than the alcohol preservatives and shit that I would never add. Hell, a gallon lasts a weekend but a gallon of the apple costs me like $4 and minimum $20 store bought.
