The old Humboldt skunk was a sativa/indica cross, there weren’t many strains then. I don’t think anyone knows what strains it came from. I remember when Indica first showed up, it was a game changer, it adapted well to the climate. At the time in Ca only sativa was illegal, not indica. There was a case in which one of my professors going to be an expert witness. Guy got caught with a lot of ready to sell weed, his defense was that it was Indica, not Sativa, my professor was going to testify that it was impossible to tell the difference between Indica /Sativa once it was dried and trimmed. Looked like the “species defense” was going to work so the prosecutor dropped the charges. The next week the legislature added Indica to the cannabis law.No such 'skunk' strain.......original smelly 'skunk' was a combo of 2 or 3 landrace strains.....created the 'skunk' smell and flavour
Who knows when and how many people crossed those with whatever and created which of the commercialized 'skunk' strains.
