Finished - Cut/cleaned both plants, got them hanging in the dark tent. Had 1 fully finished seed fall out while trimming (and several others look very promising)
Decent harvest - Im guessing 6 or 8 full jars? Plus the basket of smalls and a 5 gallon bucket of trim scrap leaves/tiny buds for cooking.

Hard to get a good pic of the finished buds - need a better setup/background for photos. But Ill add some shots of the best dried buds in a few more days.

Pretty happy with the results, good sized buds, strong flavors (somewhat different from all the ancestors involved) And at 13-14 weeks, a bit faster as well. All the predecessors took around 16-18 weeks outdoors. (stupid sativas)
I have many many seeds left from this f2(?) generation that produced these 2 (slippery and bummer Dan) so Ill definitly try a bunch outdoors this summer and see what else pops out.
And also now the seeds that these 2 produced (Bx1) - so lots of projects in the spring.
And some more chances to stabilize a strain from them if I want - although didnt have much luck with the silver thiosulfate last time, and now its expired. Oh well.

Thanks man. Good yeild for 2 plants, pretty happy with the setup - even with the pests showing up every time.

Ive done 3 plants per tent before but then they produce ALOT less. And the buds are much thinner - although still potent. I think I can do 2 per tent if I bend them right (thats my goal for the next round)

Ive seen others discussing the staggered "perpetual grow" harvesting 1 plant every month or two.

Ive given it some thought -
Because (i dont have alot of room) and the flowering is like 3 times longer than veg, it means leaving 1 of my 2 tents empty for like 4 weeks (waiting for the other to finish before starting next 4+ weeks veg)

Doing my way - I harvest 2 at a time, with a 15 week wait for the next set to finish.

I dont think I can smoke it all that fast, so I guess this system works fine. And my outdoors usually produce so much that start giving away the older stuff anyways.

Pulled the easiest seeds today, didnt want to risk having them dry out and drop off on the tent floor (get all mixed up)

Ended up with 45 from Bummer Dan and 15 from Slippery. Im sure theres more in there but these were ready to drop.
Also, one of the 2 new Strawberry Cough seeds failed early for some reason, so I couldnt resist trying one of these new seeds in its place.

Ill probably start 1 more as well, try for 2 in each tent.

Thanks, its been fun - and its keeping me in seeds. I dont have a ton of extra money to throw around right now.

Some of these new seeds will be autos - ive just read that the first signs could show at 14 days? I guess I should order my STS sooner rather than later. I thought Id have more time - But thats the next goal.

Thats the way to go!

I always count 1 week germination and than count 2 weeks then the sex should show :) keep in mind this is apart for each genetic

Ran into some trouble, right off the bat...But, i think its actually for the best.

I had started 3 feminized seeds for the next batch - 2 Strawberry cough and 1 Green Crack. (And the 1 seed from my most recent batch, but Ill get to that in a minute.)

The 2 S.C. sprouted but 1 wilted and died within 2 days, The G.C. cracked open but molded before it could break the surface.

Never had so much trouble with seeds before - although I dont always use feminized. The ones Ive grown seem to always be very small, have alot of trouble getting out of the shell.
Anyway - One S.C. still kickin (although small for her age) Just a sprout after 7 days in soil, but a survivor.

And - As I probably knew but obviously forgot...Those new seeds from the latest batch will not sprout until theyve had a chance to dry out first.
So, few more days before I can germinate but...The last "Fresh" seeds I started cracked open in a day and were like a foot tall at 1 week - so I think theyll be fine with a small delay.
And now I can do a proper start with 4 - 5 seeds from each strain, see what comes out (probably what I shouldve done from the start)

Also, forgot to post..

After drying, trimming and rendering a few colas for the seeds - ended up with 6 jars. Not quite as dense as I hoped but good flavor and plenty strong.

Update -

So, after giving them some time to dry, I started germinating a couple seeds from each new set on the 16th.
But very few actually sprouted, and the ones that did were slow to crack (7 days or more) - and all but 1 needed help getting out of the seed hull.

But, I ended up with 2 workable seedlings from Bummer Dan, 1 from Slippery Dan, and 1 strawberry cough (started on the 5th - still tiny for its age)

Between these and the strawberry cough and the Green Crack seeds that died - Ive never had this much trouble with weak slow seeds and seedlings. Maybe the store bought seeds were kinda old? Always feels like feminized seeds are weak, anyway....

So the question is (for my strains) - Is this a strain(gene) thing? Weak genetics? Should I not have crossed them back to their own fathers?

Or were the seeds just not formed enough to be vigorous the way the last generation was? (Last gen sprouted in hours and were beyond ready for a repot at 7 days)

Lots of questions, we'll see this week

You might have harvested them too early. Going by looks alone sometimes gives a false impression. You basically have to let the plant almost die on its own to make sure all the seeds are fully mature. They should be falling out on their own and raining down with a little shake. I'm not sure the drying time has much to do with it because I have seeds fall out of a plant and germinate in the coco below without any drying.

What you're probably seeing is the earliest pollinated flowers with the most light will be viable and the rest may be duds.

Ok, few weeks later and...

Lost a few seedlings from the first set and only 2 of the 2nd set of 4th gen seeds survived (confusing i know) but...I still have -

1 from the 2nd try of Bummer Dans seeds that looks good, had a quick hatch and strong start. Planted on the 21st its already in its final pot.

And 1 strange little seedling out of 10 seeds from Slippery Dan (mostly duds)
This one opened strong but has looked "off" from the begining.
Little down syndrome sprout i guess, maybe itll produce something interesting?

Final mix is used organic soil/coconut/peat/perlite - revitalized with chicken manure pellets/guano/fish emulsion mix.

And after a long slow start the Strawberry Cough is finally looking strong, still small at 1 month. But shes got a 3 gallon pot and tent to herself.

Last round I started 8 seedlings - whittled it down to 4 and still ended up with 2 males at flower. So Im a little nervous to be starting with only 2 - hopefully I can get at least 1 female out of it. But, i suppose ill be able to toss plants outside soon enough so maybe Ill crack some more just to be safe.

Ok. Lots going on - getting ready for outdoors.
Expanding my genetics this season, I have 1 more pouch of last seasons pollen leftover and Im not sure how much longer itll last. So ill try it outside on...
- 4 clones cut from the Strawberry.
- 3 seeds started of Green Crack.

But my main focus is still the "Dan" family lineage of plants indoors -
i Have 2 Bummer Dan Jr.s going, inside, almost ready to flip (2 weeks maybe)
Looks/smells great so far (but ive been fooled before, sneaky males)

Ill be spraying 1 with some STS, if it works - itll seed itself and the strawberry cough (clone mother) in the next tent.

So thatll be a bunch of new seeds and genetics if everything goes to plan.
2 (technically) seperate Strawberry Cough lines.
A final, feminized "Big Dan" strain.
And a new Green crack/Dan Sr. Line or 2 if I want.

Still early days, plenty of time for things to change or go wrong, nervous about the STS spraying...fingers crossed.

And another disappointment on the feminized seed front. This time - Instead of STS I tried a 30ppm crystaline silver spray. Daily spray instead of weekly - and it may have worked - if the plant hadnt been a full male, again.

So, thats a waste of time, but I do have one more shot at it - my lone successful seed from "Slippery Dan"
Started off a little wonky, still growing asymetrically - but most of the leaves look normal at this point. And Slippery had the tastier buds too - so it may have actually been for the best.

Ive got some spray left, so when i can flip the lights Ill try again.
