I just haven't really taken the time to learn it, I LOVE rosin but ive never stuck with it. Ill probably press some when my indoor finishes. Best press ever was ice cream cake so far. I never do enough to get a gram of rosin or just do hash rosin. I have an unlimited kief supply basically. Need to motivate, but new job is stupid physical rebuilding disel fuel pumps from rear down to rest and ship, so my body has been a mess. Haven't really gotten back into my groove yet

yeah thats hard for me to get over still! around 7-10g will yield you a around a gram of oil. so the physical plant matter is always looking more desirable quantity wise more than the rosin.

ill bet that kief presses nice! there are some different parameters and bag sizes for that i think. just make sure you get the correct micron for that material 👍 : )

Afternoon folks.

Dont actually do anything i.e. smoke/vape myself, but the other half has medical from a UK Pharmacy.

She currently vapes from a Mighty Plus and a Ruby Ball Twist pro kit. Both of which are excellent.

But she does see alot of videos of folks from across the pond using concentrate, and was interested.

My plan is to use some of her Prescription to make a gram or 2 of Concentrate, but I have a few questions.

Are there any recommendations on Presses in the UK?
20% is what I have been told that could be achieved from say 7G of Buds, which would be 1.4g, is the math correct on this?

The 20% depends on the strain and how you do it.
When you say concentrate, i suppose you mean clean weed oil Or do you mean weed oil infused in other oil?

Edit: is it for smoking or for eating?

Yeah man that 20% can vary : ) like TGU stated it can vary from strain to strain. Ive got over that with one strain, and then got under the 20% with others. But thats a ballpark figure.

As far as the presses go? I only know the Duly Tek brand, there are more economical setups! But you are going to be looking at around a couple hundred bucks (eagle dollars) 😆 (American dollar) sorry couldnt help myslef! hahaha! ✌️ theres gotta be something you can get brand wise over there right? : )

there is a member here who takes their rossin and mixes it with food grade glycerin to make what we know as vapes from the weed store! Super cool!

I’m high I admit but a couple questions
-why decarb when it’s going into a cart, to be burned?
-the rosin I produce is more in the form of taffy, I burn it in a rosin pin as is but can’t seem to follow the “straight for carts” part. Rosin and Terps has been my cart combo.

Trying to learn here so help us if you’ve got a second

decarbing the rosin makes it more liquid/oil consistency and allows it to stay in that state permanently.

you can do quick decarb at those higher temps but lose quality. i bought a sous vide to heat a tub of water to 180f. then place the jar in for roughly 48hrs or until it stops bubbling. this is very basic instructions. google something like decarb rosin sous vide and youll get the details.

i kinda misread your question. the pressing process doesnt decarb but you can use the press to heat a jar to decarb the rosin inside.

Scored this brand new 10t dual independent heating press 6x6 plate I have no clue came with couple micron bags and parchment paper guess I’ll start reading up but I want to try this shit asap lol 😂

No idea about the brand but if it works then you got a good deal. 10t is plenty, 6x6 plate plenty of room, and a guage this guy will do everything you need.

Pressing starter bundle: my preferences.

120 micron bags 2x4 for 7-10g flower. 3x6 for 20g flower. Press club, nug smasher, dulytek, and gutenberg(amazon) are good brands.
Parchment paper NOT wax paper. Slick paper is pretty good. Its a silicone paper.

How I press rosin.

Step 1 Prep the bag. Make sure your seams are on the inside and push the corners into the bag. This corner tucking method is called bottle tech. You can fill the bag by hand or use a pre press. The pre press is a form to compact the flower before pressing. The more compact and evenly distributed the flower is before press the better.

Step 2 Preheat the press. 180-190f is my sweet spot.

Step 3 Preheat the puck. 60 seconds. Place the filled bag standing up between the plates and close the plates down on the bag. You arent pressing yet just a firm hug to allow the heat to start melting the trichomes.

Step 4 The press. Start to squeeze the puck should be about 1/8-1/4 inch with good pressure. 25-40%. Hold for 30 seconds. Increase pressure over 30s with slow steady pumps to 60-75%. Hold for another 30s. Again slow and steady increase to 100% over 30s. Hold final squeeze for 30s. Warm up and full press should take 3-4 minutes. 100% isnt the full power of your jack. What 100% pressure is varies on size of puck and plates. This is where your situation will determine how heavy to press. I guesstimate 3-4t is the max needed for a 7-10g puck. There is exact math out there for correct pressure if you want to search for it.

Step 5 Releasing the jack. Very straight forward but be sure to secure the paper and the puck as you release pressure and the plates drop. You dont want that puck sliding into the rosin.

Step 6 Collection. This stuff cam be both sticky and brittle. Take one of your tools and scrape the rosin into a ball. If its too sticky put it in the fridge for a minute. You can also use a chilled cold plate under the paper when collecting to assist in removal. Once you have some collected on the tool you can use a dabbing motion to stick the tool/ball to the rosin on the paper giving it a quick jerk to pull it off.

Step 7 Put into jar/jars and store in fridge.

DUUUUUDE! score!🤩 get that parchment paper and a 5g nug and smash that shit!🤣

one thing i found extremely helpful after pressing is a “cold plate” of sorts, for scraping the rosin off the parchment, once that shit is really sticky and is way easier to work with when cold (think how your hash acts).

i use a frozen Pyrex 9x9 or close. the same one i use for qwiso and BHO extractions : )
