Out duck hunting and the weather was sketchy. When we left the Zoo parking lot before sunrise it was windy but that's it.

By shooting time it had gotten bad. Sharp wind and temp drop.
Then the wind shifted and the Mighty muddy Maumee backed up bigly.
We picked up what we could and headed in. 14 foot myers deep V and a 15 horse Evenrude. 3 big guys and a big dog.
I'm in a float coat so IDGAF but I told everyone to strip waders and empty pockets.
When we got back to the zoo parking lot after doing 3 foot rollers in the middle of the Maumee River we found those same rollers in the parking lot. All the vehicles are 1/2 way up the wheels.
Pretty sure we could have driven the boat to the truck.
Could not back the trailer up to the ramp so emptied boat took motor off and heaved it up with 3 big guys and a big dog.

So next day state boys and ODNR at ramp. ODNR asked who owned the boat and then started busting our chops about leaving a distressed boater in the water without rendering assistance. Seems another group of hunters dumped a 17 foot center console that we had seen showing up when we left. From engine sounds we thought they had gone to the floater rafts but we had not seen them. They stated we putted right by us close enough to get our first 3 letters on the hull. I have no clue where we were supposed to have seen them but based wtf the water was doing it may have been when my bro brought the boat back from the lee of the island and honestly that Evenrude is well named cause at full throttle it is rude alright. You can not here shit. We actually have a sign like twisting a throttle for talking.

Turns out was a couple of new guys we had met at a DU dinner. Never hunted and bought boats decoys and guns for duck hunting. We had kicked these guys out of our plaqued marked blind that had been on the same island for 3 generations and explained that yes it's on the river but the owners allow people to hunt here and it is expected behavior to allow the owners of the blind to get opening day. After that no one will complain even the floater blinds were fair game after day 2.

That looks like a GREAT trip to me !!! We have a place 4 miles down the beach from the harbor of refuge. I gotta get up there n cut some trees that fell n took out the beach step railings and a kayak

Just wanted to wish you a happy Starlink install day tomorrow. Words of advice if you bought or even lease the equipment do yourself two favors. 1. Get a UPS, even a small one like 500va to back up the modem/router and 2. Get a cover for the dish if you are prone to summer storms with hail. I just ordered mine from Amazon for less than $125 for both. Just remember to remove the cover on the dish so snow melt will work in the winter.

Good luck and hopefully your weather up there doesn't change the install date or completion.
Peace!

Thank you! I’m sure it’s got to be better than what we currently have.

Actually I have another week to wait. It’s next Saturday. Actually was excited for today. Oops.

We've got a Frontier landline and Xfinity (comcast) internet. Our phone goes out every other month, static mostly, so we call, service guy comes out, fixes it, then the spam calls start up again. 🫤 One of these days, hubby will give up and cancel, just not yet. LOL

It's gotten so citified around here with all the new houses, they're bringing fiber down our road. We'll have to see if they offer to bring it to the house, (200'), and what it would cost.

Spectrum finally is running fiber optic in the area. Nothing else has been available out here. Star link looks like a good fit. No contract, no obligation.

Practicing my cloning skills….rather than trim/top and throw away, nothing fancy, just some rooting hormone. These are 7 days old. Seems to be working.
Cut at an angle,
snip the (fan) leaves in half,
scrape up the cut end about an inch up, and slice longways about 1/2 inch,
Place in a cup of water (while preparing a pot of dirt),
stick in cloning powder and put into dirt, cover with a plastic bag (not sure if the bag part is necessary, but I do it now, just because …
Mist the leaves few times a day as this is their water source until they develop roots. (I basically only have to mist once a day since using plastic bag covers).
